  1. You can use the Wahoo mobile app too. Pair all your devices, and it will give you speed, distance, cadence and power from the trainer. Extras like heart rate would require having a HRM capable of pairing with your phone. I’ve used this to add resistance to the trainer (levels/resistance) and on the odd occasion I’ve used ERG (recovery intervals between the hard stuff). Here’s an easy tempo ride, from June.
  2. They discount the life policy premiums, as well as give cash back, based on your Vitality status. So it's not only the PayBack benefit you need to look at. For me, the PayBack value is more than my Vitality premiums over 5 years.
  3. Not sure if it's the test protocol on the watch, or the daily estimate, when they refer to 5 estimate values. This is what Garmin shows, as well as the integration into Intervals.icu (a daily value). My cycling VO2 would get me max points, but the running would be less. I hope they take the Cycling one, as it shows. Can clearly see the progression in training, as the VO2 value climbs through the year. Either way, it's part of the 30k annual fitness score, so workouts or this, it will still max at 30k, so not much of problem whether they get it or not.
  4. Not much different from other loyalty programs do, eg. eBucks. In this case, getting a bank account is not something that costs a lot. Perhaps learn from others on the original Discovery thread.

Here are the links to the seeding information: https://ridejoburg.co.za/seeding-men-road-2023/ https://ridejoburg.co.za/seeding-women-road-2023/ https://ridejoburg.co.za/charities-and-companies/ Use the search bar to find your seeding, if you don't have it already. Note that men and woman are separate.
  6. Thanks, haven’t received any mail (yet).
  7. is this public knowledge, or for brokers at this stage? Please post a link to where you got the screenshot.
  8. Headed north for some coffee, and shelter from the breezy conditions.
  9. If you’ve done the 947 RideJHB, then it’s the same number board.

  11. Wonder what the logic is for Disney+ to release 1 episode a week vs. 2 a week?

Treat it as a fun day out on roads we don't get to ride every day, with no traffic to be concerned about. As one former WT rider would say...
  13. With or without them, I’d still be doing the same thing, except driving at/under the speed limit. Oh, and probably paying another company a big chunk of my monthly pittance, instead of them.
  14. You and me both… 410 goals and no burnout.

It has nothing to do with Peak Timing. They were the service provider on the day to do the physical timing, i.e. setup the equipment, time everyone, and upload the data to the database. I'm note sure whether FinishTime or the Organiser would be doing the seeding. It's not mentioned who does the seeding. The organiser does other events, like the Nissan MTB series, some gravel events, etc., so they aren't new to the system of seeding. It's just odd that someone like @Spinnekop finished inside the top positions on this screenshot below, which is the overall for all 97Km open category riders. The top 11 all rode faster than the winning Elite time, which might be possible with an eBike, but unlikely to be less than 2 hours. Some of these peeps would most likely have entered the 97Km event, and only did the 35Km route. It's not difficult to clear these results, or DQ them. No way a 57yo lady is capable of doing 2:14, and if she is, then she should be riding Elite and qualifying for the R100k prize purse. I'm leaving the names in the open, as the results are available at this link, so I'm not violating any privacy issues when it's available publicly anyway... https://live.ultimate.dk/desktop/front/index.php?eventid=5880 A tip for the time/position conscious, don't start at the front of your group. The results are listed by nett time (mat to mat) and not gross time (gun to mat). I was in the top 10 for my start group, finishing ahead of a few people I know, yet the results shows I'm half a minute behind them (net time) yet ahead on gross time. Doesn't bother me, but I know some people bragging with their results showing a top 10, but they were closer to top 30 (still a good ride to be there at the finish).

Agreed on the poor service, or false promises/marketing (think of some other organisers closer to your 'hood). For me, the appeal of closed roads trumps a poor seeding, so I'll enter this event as long as it remains much the same it has been over the years. If I do get a poor seeding one day, it's sign I need to make the most of the day and take it chilled.

If they work alphabetically, then 117 comes before Spinnekop 🤪
  22. Took me a while to figure out you were referring to this (I have zero interest in the Proteas):
  23. Strava said I did an evening ride. Maybe a 17:05 start time is considered evening. I prefer late afternoon.
