  1. Usually under your bottom bracket (turn your bicycle onto it's handle bar and seat and look on the frame where the pedals come together).
  2. LMAO Cheers to common sense, cycling safety awareness, and people caring less about looking like euro-douches and more about practical things...like staying alive on our roads.
  3. Let's hope justice takes its course! For the family's sake and as a warning to people to not drink and drive on our roads RIP, fellow cyclist.
  4. So what was wrong with your knee?
  5. CWC are running a promotion for Father's Day. Selling an IceToolz "Pro Shop" Toolbox for 1k. Supposedly RRP is double that. Anyone have experience with one of these? http://www.cwcycles.co.za/product/icetoolz-pro-shop-toolbox
  6. Just in case any else was wondering. Turns out one can't fit a 7-speed on the new 10-speed specific freehubs. Bummer.
  7. Sweet! Thanks! Definitely want to be able to service my BB and hubs. Chain-whip, I'm sure I can DIY with an old chain and a pipe. Only problem I see lies in torquing everything correctly when I put my bike back together.
  8. I edited the link now! Was wondering about that, too. lmao I googled the product and that's the link I found. I searched again for a more legit-looking link. Changed link in original post.
  9. I don't have any experience with other tools, but I guess it's a stretch to expect a lot of people to have tried this kit and give me feedback. Nonetheless, this is the hub, someone, somewhere must know something about this kit or how it compares to other options
  10. Hey everyone Been off the bike for too long. Got my MTB back from service @ Road Cycles in Silverton (great service!), so finally pedaling again I saw the following 20-piece mechanic set at Makro and was thinking the following: "It's a deal, it's a steal, it's the bargain of the @#!*$& century!" http://www.makro.co.za/p/16322/fluid-home-mechanic-20-piece-kit/ Does anyone else have this kit? Is it any good for low-level maintenance? Looking forward to some input. Think a lot of cyclists out there would benefit from having a access to a complete home mechanic set on the cheap and get to know their bikes better.
  11. Hey guys I'm looking for a MTB. I like the Axis range, particularly looking at something like this: http://www.citycycle...dary-brand.html I'd like to just walk into a store and buy it. Where in Pretoria is this possible?
  12. +1 HAHAHAHA Alectwowheels, how frenziedly did you rub your two braincells together to cook up that TOP TJOP rant! Prices change all the time. That's life. Get on your bike and enjoy your wheelset! Price decreases are the way forward. Viva progress! Viva lower cycling costs!
  13. Pro version of the application is selling for R0.89 today. Grab it while you still can.
  14. Puppy in my pocket. "Come here! Come here, my boy" What is up with all the reflexive hate-filled responses to people with a complaint about CWCycles? Did I miss how this company turned into a religion with its own following that can't stand criticism? It's only a company that can also make mistakes. Seems as though CWCycles still has teething problems and made a mistake. I'm sure it happens a lot that there are discrepancies in actual stock on hand and the theoretical stock on hand. Happens everywhere. What I wounldn't accept, though, is the discourtesy of being made to look the fool after CWCycles were in the wrong, instead of them admitting that they made a mistake. Common decency not to play the prick, especially with a customer. That being said, I have received mostly outstanding service from CWCycles Online. My only gripe so far has been that they don't read the addendum to an order, eg. "if x unavailable in size y then please send me one in size z". In the end it was only two extra pieces of correspondence, but still annoyed that they put the section on the online order form, but don't use it.
  15. Tautology. Don't mention it
  16. Thks for quick replies! Will come back to post how it worked. Wish me luck.
  17. Hey Hubbers Got me a pair of Shimano WHR-601 super cheap and want to put them on my bro's bicycle before I give it back to him after many years of abuse. The current setup is 7spd and I would like to hear from someone who has tried modding a 10spd wheel for a 7spd drivetrain whether putting in a 4.5mm spacer as suggested in the link below will work. http://forums.roadbi...hub-215471.html
  18. +1 "It's not about the bike"
  19. KISS it is. Being a roadie I liked Volcan_KZN's suggestion of a double blade crankset, but I'll keep the old triple blade crankset and not waste money. Ordering a Shimano HG61 11-32 cassette and Sram PC 971 Chain (9sp) as soon as CWCycles have stock. Robrider, what did you buy to convert those MT15s into tubeless? Did you use UST-specific tyre with something like one of the following? http://www.cwcycles.co.za/product/bbt-tubeless-rimstrip-and-valve http://www.cwcycles.co.za/product/stans-rim-strip-standard And then just add sludge? Having a look at http://www.gotubeless.com/ Thank you for your advice, patches, Volcan & Robrider!
  20. You mean just get a double road bike crankset such as a 53/39? I like low cadence, but I'm not anywhere near strong enough to push 39/34 ratio up jeep track by Klapperkop etc. Saw this on CWCycles last night. R199 for a Compagnolo Veloce 53/39 crankset - http://www.cwcycles.co.za/product/campagnolo-veloce-crankset
  21. Patches, thank you for your reply! Unfortunately, no stock on HG50. The HG61 is only available in 11/34 configuration. Insane granny gear Any idea where to get 11/28?
  22. Hi Fellow Hubbers I don't yet know enough about MTBing to be confident that I am buying the correct parts, but I desperately want to fix up my bro's MTB on a budget so I can hit some singletrack at Groenkloef/Klapperkop, so please help me choose some parts from CWCycles.co.za: Wheels -http://www.cwcycles.co.za/catalog/78 Shimano MT15 Wheelset for R750 - http://www.cwcycles....o-mt15-wheelset Tubes - http://www.cwcycles.co.za/catalog/72 Do I go for 2.125" or 2.5"? ?:| Prob go for 2.5" if the Conti X-King is 2.2/2.4. Tyres - http://www.cwcycles.co.za/catalog/74 Not going tubeless, as I'm not worried about weight and am more comfortable with the idea of tubes and some cladding for heavy, but spikeproof wheels. Plus, tubeless costs more? Tubeless kit + Special tyres + Maintenance more expensive than Normal tyres + tubes? Continental X-King was the heaviest, and thus assuming strongest, tyre I could find R499 marked down from R700- http://www.cwcycles....-22-ust-tyre-26 Cassette - http://www.cwcycles....ette-mtb?page=1 Shimano? SRAM? Cheapest is a Shimano HG50 for R250 HG61 is R320 and has a spider system for extra stiffness and durability. Anybody know what this spider system is? lol Chain - http://www.cwcycles....og/parts/chains Don't even know if there are different types for MTBing vs Road Just know I need a 9spd. Crankset - http://www.cwcycles....ts/crankset-mtb LBS only mentioned cassette and chain needed to be replaced, so I should be okay. Thank you in advance. Itching to hit some trails A great site, but a lot to digest still: http://www.sheldonbrown.com
  23. Future Life tastes like flavoured whey powder, but it does the trick for me.
  24. Big up on the idea, though. I'd buy two cycling-themed t-shiorts. One for ride, the other for after. Can you source the t-shirts with a v-neck?
  25. Please post higher res pics of the first graphic. Struggling to read the descriptions. How about V-necks?
