  1. That happened to me once too - I added some more air as I was well under the recommended pressure and so far so good...
  2. Myles just go buy a 650b Enduro and save some cash. Available now!
  3. Where are those lovely Chinese carbon rims available?
  4. I think its okay - looks strong and seems to work well - Polygon riders win enduro's on the thing. Myles, just had a thought - it'd be a good bike for you instead off the Reign?
  5. I have 26" flows on my original giant hubs and Chinese spokes. Its a good rim that can handle a beating compared to the very soft DTs I had before. Maybe wait until you have trashed the Giant rims and then just lace on some Flows. Giant hubs work fine - no reliability issues for me.
  6. Here is mine again! So enjoying this thing - up and down the hills -
  7. Myles, give that bike back and get your own man!
  8. You really stuffed up there hey, but you know that, right!
  9. Ya, the Orbea is one of my favourites and you can get custom paint jobs done at the factory in Spain!
  10. Perhaps, but its quite light and manages to pedal well despite its 165mm travel so it can do it all and then some.
  11. R37k gets an ali framed Spaz Enduro 650 with a Pike and 1 x11. Its a no brainer in my book... Checked specs again - its a 1x10 drive train. Still a good deal.
  12. Ya 100% - I am on a Spaz because its an XL, was cheapish and fitted my used 26er build kit. I'd be happy on any of those bikes and probably a few others too... If the Reign fitted 26" wheels I'd have bought the latest frame instead.
  13. Some would say yes - like a 62 deg head angle and 300mm BB height:-)
  14. Okay lets agree to disagree. The 2015 Reign is a very different bike to the 2013 version I have just turned into an Enduro. Its longer and much slacker. Giant were late to the party. The S Enduro on the other hand has hardly changed over the years probably because it didnt need to...So I think it depends on the bike model and manufacturer ie we should not generalize. I read the reviews of the Enduro since 2010 and found them to highlight the same strengths with little in the way major changes and/or improvements, bar the 29er version. I think the Enduro was ahead of its time back then...
  15. Actually no, I think you can - by all accounts the 650 and 26er get similar reviews and comments. The linkage change improved pedaling from 2013, but they remain the same mini dh bike at heart. The 29er is a different kettle of fish as all 29ers are.
  16. Not really, they are very similar. The 650 has the same front triangle as the 26er which was made until last year. They just slapped a longer rear triangle on. 1 degree slacker head angle than the 26er. Same basic frame design, linkage and such like. All have ali swingarms and external cable routing and quite high bb's at 350 mm. They also look damn near identical... You can get an ali Enduro 650 for R37k with a Pike at the Spaz store in town. Thats pretty good when compared to a Giant Reign 2.
  17. Based on an email newsletter from Table Mountain Bikers I received today, Rob requested a meeting with SANP re the Cecelia trail 2 weeks ago but has had no response so far.
  18. That is a steep and very fast track - should be quite a spectacle with great TV because its short and largely in the open.
  19. Great coverage guys - including the SA athletes names is a bonus.
  20. Dig the chunky lines of the carbon front triangle. This colour scheme shows it off better than the blue/black of the "0" .
  21. Ha Ha, and drink his beers while you doing it!!
  22. The "trial basis" in Cecelia as handled by Table Mountain Bikers independent of the TMMTB forum, is dependent on the completion of the revised EMP for which the TMMTB forum has a set goal of no-later than the the end of this year - 2015. It requires public participation and various joint document revisions which takes time due to the level of detail. The question is why it is dependent on the EMP completion? The bigger picture involves finding additional areas where bikes can go due to the closure of Tokai. TMNP have themselves encouraged this but render the Cecelia concession a non-event because at this rate, by the time it does get full legality Tokai will be open again... And of course, "trial basis" implies that it could be implemented then and there, pending final approval after the trial period. It makes no sense to have it approved ito an EMP in months time but only on a trial basis. The mind boggles at the collective idiocy...
  23. I have done some research, if you can call google research of course. Read this link re the relevant sections of the Criminal Procedure Act and take note of the fact that an admission of guilt payment in terms of Section 57 of the CPA has the effect of a conviction in court. That is not to say that the record will be recorded, but it is a criminal conviction. http://www.jp-sa.org/Sec57CPA.asp Secondly, the ticket is allegedly issued in terms of the following regulations https://www.environment.gov.za/sites/default/files/gazetted_notices/nempaa_naturereserves_g32472gen1029.pdf Regulation 62 is relevant. However, the ticket Toby has refers to a non existent sub section of the Regulations. There is also the question of the amount of the fine which appears to be completely excessive. Note that the Regulations speak of criminal offences and possible jail time. Very draconian response to someone getting some exercise in a plantation, not even what could be termed a sensitive nature reserve area. I think that the ticket is invalid and there is a chance that these regulations are unconstitutional. My opinion - don't pay, go to court and contest the ticket on the basis of the non-existent section it quotes and the amount Chances are that it will get thrown out by the control or senior prosecutor.
  24. I am hence my advice above. Someone please send me a copy of the tickets they have been issuing to ijajino1@gmail.com. Ta.
