  1. I fink yous should all get shooted out together and have a massive free for all to the finish - kind of like death race on bikes.
  2. Vuurberg wine's have anuthing to do with it?
  3. http://www.pinkbike.com/news/WPDH-round1--Vuurberg.html Where is this track - the mountains look so familiar...
  4. Totally barking mad. Leave it as is just raise the seat so you can sit on it and ride it dammit. And stop asking silly questions on the Hub .
  5. Nice, you/your buddy have some good skills, but jumping and whipping in lycra just looks soooo wrooooong Still trying to recover from those rolling camera shots
  6. I have to agree with the Hairy one on this. Was Johno simply bluntly honest about his thoughts on the trails at Tokai, or being malicious. I believe the former. Some feelings got hurt along the way, but that's life, isn't it and we are all adults? As a similarly concerned Tokai mtbe'r I also don't doubt that the intentions of Deon, Myles and all the hard working volunteers have been good, but that does not mean what has been built thus far is up to scratch. When jumps start appearing at the top of rises or virtually in corners and massive berms are built where smaller could be better, we have to start asking why. And why also, as Mayhem stated earlier, if the new Snake trails were meant to be temporary until the burn happens, has so much effort gone into building berms and features, where perhaps money and time could have been better spent maintaining existing trails and leaving the snakes for a serious professional build after the fire? We all ride all over the grater Cape Town area and know what is going down at Tygerberg, Jonkers and Welvanpas. Sure, there are differences from terrain to gradient to owner management requirements, but the differences are still very noticeable. The new xc/dh route at Hoogekraal is amazing - an xc route that will allow for skills development and can be ridden fast or slow, on the ground or in the air. There is nothing that compares at Tokai yet, but there should be, IMO. I believe we have a chance to make Tokai a premium bike destination for all kinds of riders but for that we have to be united and work together. I think we are well on our way to get that right now. 7. How about this - should mountain bikers (plural - many) be screwed over by a single mountain biker? That's not necessarily the case here of course, but if it is the case, which is worse, your example or mine? How many years has there not been an AGM? Fact, there has never been an AGM. Questions: Have the current incumbents been managing the process properly from the money, to trail design to building to public participation? We don't know. The AGM and process after that will tell us. All the naysayers point to dirty tactics, but no examples bar nasty FB comments are provided as evidence. There is however much evidence of paranoia and large chips on shoulders from the current incumbents This is how things work in a democracy - we have a meeting and we vote - we don't waste our time bickering on the Hub throwing ludicrous conspiracy theories around. Its all pretty simple really.
  8. Dirty tactics? Please tell us exactly how where and when these CIA black ops okes got busy?
  9. Oh my word - okay, we need more women DH racers for sure. :-)
  10. I see Rika actually won the Elite women in just over 3 mins. Claudio, your results seem to be wrong in that category?

Hey Omega - that you in the silver bakkie with the Dakine tailgate mat on Edinburgh drive this am?
  12. The one up ring will also wear fast its 7 series aluminium like the XX1 and General Lee. For 29ers surely a 30 tooth up front will provide reasonable gearing with an 11-36 up hill. Probably too little for high speed stuff though?
  13. http://enduro-mtb.com/en/bike-test-a-post-season-ride-on-the-mde-carve-7/ Lol, indeed, my weekend is full of kids parties and other ride killing activities too. How about the above bike - Italian and very rare and I think available in 26"
  14. You okes are worse than a klomp flats car tjooners man. Stop masturbating over paint schemes and go ride
  15. That's true - another good reason to ride a sixer :-)
  16. You'll have to remove the crank to get the smaller rings off. Your new ring replaces the large chainring. AFAIK the Sram crank will work with the wolf, RF and other 104BCD 1x rings now available, as will SLX, XT and possibly XTR as well. Its dead easy to convert - a bit harder getting used to the gearing, but very worthwhile. So much better not having to worry about switching front rings...
  17. 1x10 with a 11-36 x 34 works well on my 14kg Reign - 26". I have got stronger and stronger and feel like I am spinning in the 36 cog at times where previously I struggled. The only time it will be a problem is when I get tired on a long ride - eg 40 km plus (thats long for me). If your bike has good rear wheel traction and stability when ridden slowly on tech uphills, you'll manage the higher gearing by simply pedaling slower at times. Cost - about R500 for a 34 tooth RF ring and about 400g weight saved.
  18. My experience of XCO is that it is by far the toughest form of the sport form a fitness and skills perspective but isnt high on the fun factor IMO. High speed, brutal climbs and usually some seriously sketchy descending. If you ain't fit or skilled you will hate it even more. Marathon type funrides are easy for a reason - you can make far more money with mass participation events like this and the numbers make technical trails a problem. SA seems to be a world leader in this industry - we pay a fortune to "race" rather than just go and ride or explore on our own.
  19. And its just got a glowing review by Bike Mag in their 2014 bike tests...
  20. On Boulders this Saturday afternoon. A cycle computer. Describe it to get it back.
