I have no sympathy for the dead dude. If you play with guns and point them at people and terrorise them then there are consequences to that. Pitty the other two got away but hopefully they can track them down. I am sure that these are the same 3 that have been doing all the jackings. Thats one less armed parasite on the spruit to worry about.

Will it be possible to ride jonkershoek on Friday or saturday before the event on Sunday ?

Rode the Red yesterday again, its really rutted in the corners and seems to have taken a hammering since the riders from Origin of trails rode it. Not sure that it was the best idea to have hundreds of riders hammer it before it had time to settle. Its going to need some rain and some TLC some time soon.

Rode the red route this morning, was nice and damp. By far the best trail I have ridden in a long long time, can't get the smile off my face. A lot of thought has gone into making this trail flow -big up to the guys who have put so much work into the trails. Cant imagine how good it will be when it has been ridden in and bedded down.

Any update on the completion of the Red Line, will it be open by the weekend ? Holding thumbs

Santa Cruz is an amazing brand. I ride the Tallboy LTC and its by far the best bike i have owned and that includes the other brands mentioned above. My brother is on a Tallboy 2 and I have a few friends riding them and they all love them. Once you have had a Santa Cruz its hard to ride anything else. If you are still unsure take one for a test ride. @Johny Bravo - i don't know what you been smoking but a specialised lighter and better components are is going to cost you a whole lot more than R65k they Sworks epic is retailing for around R110k.

Hi Guys Did a lipogram today to check cholestrol levels. I have been on LCHF for about +- 2 months. A little concerned with the results : Total cholestrol 7.1 up from 5.1 a year ago HDL 1.6 up from 1.3 a year ago LDL 4.8 up form 3.3 a year ago I dont have HDL and LDL from just before starting the diet but when i did my Discovery test a few months ago total was 5.76, so it has gone from 5.76 to 7.1 over the period of 2 months on LCHF. Any advise maybe cutting back on saturated fats like cheese etc. Cheers

Hi Guys, Looking for a bit of advise. I have been LCHF for about two months now. Initial period was terrible, no energy etc. That improved somewhat and think i have adapted to burning fat. The one problem that i am finding is that my legs seem to "lactate" as soon as i up the tempo. It feels almost as if my muscles run out of energy and i have to back off to let my legs recover, before being able to push the pace again. I have been training on water and have used super starch for races. If i do two consecutive days of riding my legs feel very heavy ie recovery post ride seems to be slower than normal. My heart rate generally is very high on rides > 70% of max, to keep it down i would have to ride really slowly, i know this probably puts me in a zone where my body will be trying to burn glucose, but note sure how to avoid this. I have been upping my sodium intake but still feel fairly dehydrated after a ride. Ant advise would be appreciated

VeloErv when will the rock n roll extreme be available i have spoken to a number of bike shops and they all say nope they dont have and dont know when they will be getting - I was just about to order online and bring it in myself, its without dounbt the best lube but is always a mission to get hole of. you roadies are such a bunch of pussies. What happened yesterday can hardly be called a mechanical. Its called rider error. If AS wants to win the TDF then best he learns how to shift gears properly. Beside some shitty gear shifting his team managed to waste each other out of the peleton with some hi-tempo riding that left him without any team mates. He was isolated in the mountains on his own without a team mate to help him. AC carried on racing as did everyone else. What next - andy slips on a bannana skin, will the peleton wait ? Do we need a domesique to wipe Andy's arse before he puts his bib on ?. Cry babies don't win the TDF. Besides AC is gonna take at least 1min 30 to 2 min out of andy on the time trial , so it will be irrelevant. I suggest you forum members go get yourself a mountain bike and a pair of nuts.

Not a Rumour. It was a sad day yesterday. 3 harleys collided with each other on the road and ended up hitting two road cyclists from behind out near Teak Place. There were some serious injuries. Medics from the Teak Trail Race were sent to help before ambulances arrived. No news of how they are.

I used Evans cycles last week to bring a Castelli top in. They were very good but BE WARNED customs screwed me 45% duty for clothes and 14% VAT on top of that. I have used bike24 In Germany- they are really good, great service and very quick. I had some tyres sent to a friends office in Germany and he then bought them out for me saved over 50% compared to buying local - they wernt even available locally.

I agree the police should set up a sting operation - it wouldnt be too difficult - they musn't arrest these f**kers - they must shoot to kill - its a disgrace what is happening here. Is it not possible to charge extra entrance fee and the proceeds going towards those armed guys that ride around on Motorbikes ?. I would gladly pay double the entrance fee to know that there were guys like that cruising around Northern Farms.

I ride in the Cape on my own all the time. Tokai forest, Jonkershoek, Silvermine etc. I see girls riding on there own all the time. I never have problems - its like chalk and cheese compared to JHB. The Cape is WAY WAY safer than JHB. Its time for someone to take out a few of these criminals, they know they can get away with it so they are never going to stop. I say two in the chest and one in the head and you will see the bike jacking stats drop.

well this is hardly a difficult thing to solve. Let the police set up 2 undercover guys in riding gear and hang around the area on Saturday. When they are approached pull out a gun and kill these primates - f**** simple. Why do we have to wait for someone to die before they sort this sh*t out. The last three bikejackings have been on consecutive weekends on a saturday ???? Hello there is a pattern here, it would not be difficult to catch these guys if there was some will and motivation from our police force. Sorry for the tone of this email but i have had guns stuck in my face on 3 different occasions (not on my bike) and if these guys were taken out, it would make the world a much better place.
