  1. I had no issues on Absa this morning. Still having an issue with gmail / google being really slow. Basically any .com addresses.
  2. I asked around before entering and didn't hear one bad thing from anyone. The people who have done it all said it was fantastic!
  3. We stayed in Knysna the last 2 years. First year, got someone to give us a lift to Uniondale, last year we used the shuttle. Downside was having to get up very early in the morning. You can to get your bike on the first trailer as its the better trailer. We stay at Eastford Country Estate which is halfway up Simola. Very reasonably priced at that time of year and great for families (3 bedroom self-catering house, with everything you need including a dish washer). Wouldn't recommend cycling there from the finish, its close, but all uphill.
  4. For all those interested, Europcar will allow you to have a driver take your car from start to finish. The driver doesn't need to be at the airport, you just need a copy of their drivers license and ID.
  5. 50km route is not tec Its been 50km's for the last few years. Previously used to be 42km's. The ride is not technical at all. Only the tiny little bit of singletrack near the end, but its short and most people walk it.
  6. Best thing to do if you can afford it. No way I was getting rid of my awesone DS 26er, but I really wanted to try a hardtail again and made sense to get a 29er. Rode the 29er HT at Tokai last Sunday and managed to easily get up some of the short steep uphills that I can't get up on my 26er. Don't know if thats due to the weight difference, extra traction, or lack of bouncy suspension.
  7. Some Chiro's just treat your pain, others try prevent it in the future. I've been for physio multiple times for my shoulder//neck pain, been to a chiro multiple times, orthopedic surgeon who put a cortosone injection in my shoulder (which helped the pain for a year) and it kept coming back. Finally went to see a different Chiro and its making a huge difference. She didn't just treat the pain, she gave me exercises to strengthen my mucsles so that my shoulder is kept in the correct place (it currently sits further forward than my other one). It really hurt at first, but I'm now seeing the results and haven't had to use anti-inflammatories for over a month. Everyone else had told me to rest the shoulder completely or do light streches which was just making the problem worse.
  8. just need to select the right option. The Polo's, I20's etc all have plenty space in the boot.
  9. Europcar hire a bike rack that takes 3 bikes so you just need to get 1 bike + 4 adults in the car which is definitely possible in a hatch back.
  10. If you get two teams hiring cars its a lot easier as the one team can park at the finish and the other team at the start and then just give a lift. Problem is the only person I know doing it is doing the Descent.
  11. Thats what I'm worried about. Anyone with suggestions? I really don't feel like driving up from Cape Town, its a LONG way.
  12. When booking the hire car, we need to specify the driver otherwise the car won't be covered for insurance. Would we know the drivers details?
  13. How would that work if we are hiring a car? I entered without even thinking about logistics :-)
  14. If I combine the value of my bikes frames, they are worth more than my car. That said, my car is now almost 10 years old.
  15. I struggled at first but it was mainly due to the cheaper pedals that came on the bike. When I upgraded my pedals, it was a lot easier. Hope you get it right!
  16. Anyone know if there is a shuttle from the airport to the start and from the finish back to the airport? I don't know if I read wrong, but the registration and start are at 2 different places? If you get to registration, how do you get to the start in the morning if you get a shuttle.
  17. 3 day. Coming from Cape Town. Its a long drive (I know from driving to Sani). Are there any other option of getting there.
  18. How do the logistics work. If we drive to the start on day 1, how do we get our car etc after day 3? Do they do the transfers like Sani?
  19. How does the tent thing work? I see they have options for you to have your own tent etc?
  20. Sani was +- R8000 per team, can remember the exact amount. Can we still put our name on the waiting list, or should I just wait until entries open?
  21. Why is it on a Saturday :-(
  22. Its an interesting one. My dad for example has been reading the hub for years, he just doesn't post. He has a fork that he wants to sell and thought about using the hub. I mentioned to him that people wouldn't trust someone with no posts.
  23. I take offense to this post. Using and abusing my name...... Glad you managed to not get hijacked.
  24. I'm keeping my latest purchase very quite as I will take way too much flak.
  25. My 26DS is going no where. I love her too much. Interesting though that they don't have a 2012 version of her. The ladies bikes are all going 29er as well.
