Jonkershoek has some awesome trails, but you need to find your own way there. Best to try organise a ride with some fellow hubbers that can show you all the nice singletrack.

I'll be there, but only riding on of the days.

I made the same mistake. My son did really well in his first year at school and didn't have to go to the naughty corner once at school which was the deal. So, next weak Tuesday we will have a 10 week old lab puppy in the house..... I'm jealous of all you people taking leave. I'll be working except for the public holidays.

I opened it and it worked perfectly in my Outlook 2010. Only thing is its missing lots of races i.e Sani2C. Would be nice to have a complete one.

Defintiely stress release and also for the adrenalin. If I don't get adrenalin I become depressed as my body is used to always getting it. Its the closest I can come to horse riding. I used to do eventing which is going almost flat out of jumps etc, very similar to flying down singletrack with roots and drop offs etc. Only thing is that the bike is a lot more predicatable.

If you only rode 2 new trails above top canary, then you missed one :-) I haven't ridden it yet, but have heard its awesome.

Check for xt's on chain reaction cycles, they had a special on the other day.

I think you guys are being rather harse on PPA. They are trying to make sure they find alternative routes for the races. One of them starts in Fish Hoek like some people suggested. They can't help it if the City of Cape Town decides that it doesn't want races on Ou Kaaps. In the end its for our safety. While there might not be a lot of traffic early on a Sunday morning, a lot of the slower riders would only be going over Ou Kaaps later in the day. If its the only route in and out of Fish Hoek, I can imagine the drivers getting quite irate if they have to sit behind cyclists all the way up.

CRC is that same as places like Amazon. I refuse to buy from Exclusive books, their prices are rediculous. Even Kalahari is expensive. So, I buy all my books from Amazon as well as a lot of other stuff (just a pity they don't export their PS3 games to SA). I'm all for these online stores, saves me lots of money :-)

Do you do any other exercise besides cycling? I've been told that weight training is more benefical for losing weight than thingsl ike running and cycling. Maybe try adding some light weight training in and see if that helps. Well done for being strict on your diet! Its something I'm hopeless at.

Agreed, and all Great Trek riders, please don't tell everyone how great it was. The small group felt a lot more personal.

There is a very short ride report on the Berg & Bush thread :-) Its the best 3 days of mtbing I've ever done.

These guys deserve a rave! We travelled to the Berg and Bush on Monday from Cape Town. When we arrived at DBN airport, both bike boxes looked like they had been through a washing machine. My bike luckily was ok, but my dad's box had completely fallen apart with holes in it. We got to registration only to find a piece missing from the rear wheels axel. I went to change my entry from team to solo for day 1 and Mark from Subaru Pietermaritzberg overheard this. He said that my dad couldn't miss day 1 and went and organised a bike for my dad to ride. Gerald de Kock was also kind enough to arrange a bike. Arrive at the start the next day and find that its not just a cheap bike, it was a lovely Merida full suspension with tubeless tires and the works. We couldn't believe that someone would lend a complete stranger such a great bike for 3 days. We were now down 2 boxes and not looking forward to flying home with our bikes in cardboard boxes again. As luck would have it, we met William from Thule and he offered to organise us Thule hard cases. He arranged for them to be delivered to an easy pick up point on our way back to the airport and we flew home with our bikes safe and sound. He trusted us to take the boxes and only pay for them once back in Cape Town. My faith in human kind has been restored. There really are some good people out there.

What an awesome few days of riding. I loved the track, even more than Sani as the singletrack was more technical and there was lots of it on all 3 days. I will admit, there were points especially on day 1 where I wished I had a full suspension, my arms were more tired than my legs :-) Was actually happy at one point when we got to a jeep track. Everything was super well organised, food was great, people were great, had quite neighbours that didn't snore, what more can you ask for. P.S Stretch, it was nice to meet you!

There are 3rd party tool that bring the start menu back for those that seriously miss it. I am dying to upgrade, but as a developer it means having to reinstall 3 versions of visual studio, 2 versions of SQL server and various other applications. Means at least 2 days of not being fully functional at work. Will definitely do it over the Xmas period when things are quiet.

Day 1 of the descent had to be re-routed due to water. Hopefully the weather is better next week for the great trek
