  1. I know that. But my point was that at the point that they reset your goal on Friday midnight, they don't know that you haven't made your goal as you could still have points coming in due to the delay (Virgin Active especially). Only by the next Wednesday will they know for definite that you didn't make the previous week.
  2. Anyone else having issues logging into the discovery app? I was able to login yesterday no problems, but today I can't login. If I use the same username and password on the website, it works.
  3. Discovery doesn't know on a Saturday morning that you haven't made it as you could still have points coming in. So if you don't make it, it only comes into affect the following week.
  4. but yet when I run I can barely breath let alone talk, but yet my heart rate still averaged below 80%....
  5. I put in loads of effort to get a whole 100 points. 1.6km swim = 100 points, 5km run (in strong wind) = 100 points. Go to gym and get coffee = 100 points. Something wrong there. For my swim this morning my average HR was 88 bpm, max 118 bpm (butterfly), no where near the 80%. When it gets to 700 then I am screwed. I spent at least one day on the weekend surfing, cycling or walking with my son and for those I get 0 points.
  6. I am finding it quite hard to achieve. I need to exercise 5 times a week at the moment (will go up to 6 next week). Unless I can do a mountain bike ride where the hills make my heart rate go up nicely, I can't get over the 80%.
  7. You are lucky you get 300 points for a 5km run. I ran on Thursday in the rain and wind for 30 minutes only to receive 100 points. I could have got the same by just swiping at the gym.
  8. I managed to get above 70% the other day around Koeberg. Hills help a lot. Yesterday however I did a 30 min run and I wasn't able to achieve 70% even though I was pushing and by the end of the run half dead. (a 20 min run I can handle, 30 min is tough). I personally think they should go in between ie. 65%-75% instead of 70-80%. 60% is too easy to achieve.
  9. They have the Knysna forest marathon, but not the Knysna MTB or Road race in July. They are missing the majority of the events I do. Will just have to rely in my garmin for things like Berg and Bush (will probably get more points anyway as previously they only awarded for 1 of the 3 days.
  10. You have to buy and link Tom Tom before the 18 March, or wait until they get the interface working between the two (there was mumblings about june / july).
  11. Anyone wanting to get a VivoActive, rather wait a little bit for the Vivoactive HR which has the built in HR monitor. Its being released soon. Then you don't need to worry about a HR strap. Otherwise Tom Tom does a nice GPS multisport watch with built in HR for a very good price, only catch is it needs to be linked by tomorrow otherwise you have to wait for Discovery to have a direct interface with Tom Tom (+- 6 months). Unfortunately the Tom Tom has bad reviews for the swimming accuracy (everything else was fine) which makes it a no go for me. only other watch I found with GPS and built in HR was an Adidas one. But the VivoActive is better IMO.
  12. What is interesting is that looking on there website, things are different there compared to the email we received. i.e run speed is now 8km's per hour (was 4km's) and ride speed must be 20km's per hour (was 8km's). When I spoke to the lady at vitality she said these are the new speeds come the 2nd of April. There was no mention of speed in THE email.. That said, 20km's on a road bike is easily achievable, but on a technical mtb trail its a bit of a push (for me at least). But at least its something achievable if you don't have a heart rate monitor.
  13. People are complaining because the goals have changed. Come April the 2nd, you can do a 3 hour cycle at 30km's per hour and you will only get 100 points if you do not have a heart rate monitor. I am also on 650 points and its been easy to get and I agree, maybe a little too easy (i.e I can get 300 points for a 20 min walk). The problem is that they didn't adjust it slightly, that made a huge adjustment. As I don't have an HR, I would have to exercise 7 days a week to make my current goal ! This is not achievable for me with work and family responsibilities. But, I've kept pretty quite so far as they said they will readjust the goals. Will be interesting to see what my new goal is.
  14. I was so close to buying the VivoActive Smartwatch (the previous one without HR), but think I will wait until I can get my paws on this one :-)
  15. It starts off low, mine start off at 150 points, now I am on 300. The idea being that they slowly push you do to more. From what I understand, if you use a heart rate monitor or a garmin, you can get bonus points for being in a certain range (heart rate) or running / riding at a specific speed. Maybe look into that if you have a heart rate monitor.
  16. I was trying to avoid anything that would cost me money :-) Found I hadn't done my mental health assessment online so all sorted now.
  17. Who else is doing the Vitality Rewards? I am loving it. Getting 2 free smoothies on Wednesday. bonus is its actually motivating me to train more because if I don't I am not just letting myself down, but my Vitality friends can see that I've been lazy and will miss out on their bonus smoothie. One question, what is the easiest way to earn the bonus fitness points? I am at my max fitness points and need 1000 points to maintain Diamond.
  18. Just cause someone has a cheap car, doesn't mean they can't afford a nice bike. Honestly don't see the point of a fancy expensive car. My car gets used to sit in traffic going to work and back. My bikes gets used to play, have fun, socialise with friends, keep fit etc etc.
  19. We had the KTM balance bike. Awesome little bike and solid. The one advantage of a "motorbike" one over a "bicycle" one is there are hand protectors. The amount of times my son rode into something (especially in the house), they saved his hands. I swear by the balance bikes. I've seen the difference in bike control with the kids who rode balance bikes vs ones that rode with training wheels for a long time.
  20. There is still a bit of hope. I reckon a lot of people will pull out because their friends / family didn't get in especially those that have to travel far to the race. Otherwise its waiting for substitutions.
  21. Charities want R2000. As I am hopeless on asking people for donations I would have to pay the full amount myself, just not worth it. Very sad.
  22. 16 hours doesn't sound too bad. We eat at around 6pm so that means eating breakfast at 10am which I do sometimes.
  23. There is no way I could even attempt this. I feel faint if I don't eat every few hours or so. Need my food. And no, I don't have diabetes or anything (been checked). I do have low blood pressure though so if fasting lowers blood pressure, that could be the cause of me feeling faint if I haven't eaten for a while.
  24. So excited. Will be our 4th (we are addicted). And they have made it so much easier this year for people coming from Cape Town with shuttles etc.
  25. I just wish they would show more of team of our team and riders. They showed the crash, but after that you didn't really here his name mentioned so had no idea where he was.
