  1. So excited. Will be our 4th (we are addicted). And they have made it so much easier this year for people coming from Cape Town with shuttles etc.
  2. I just wish they would show more of team of our team and riders. They showed the crash, but after that you didn't really here his name mentioned so had no idea where he was.
  3. I used to have a stumpy that was almost the same blue, loved it, but what I love about this one is the little bit of green. Sadly I think they will only bring the "Carbon" coloured one out. There is a lime green Rumour (which I think is awesome), but apparently the ladies have been complaining and all want the plain boring grey one.
  4. There are 6 different models of the Rhyme. Don't think they will bring them all in, but should bring in at least one of the carbon models.
  5. As Da Vinci knows, I LOVE my Rumour Expert. Have been riding it for over a year now and I just feel one with the bike. Drop offs, roots, rocks etc it just does everything. That said, I cannot wait to get my hands on the new Rhyme, especially if they bring out the blue and green carbon comp that is on the US website. its got a 650b Carbon frame with 150mm travel up front :-) Even the bottom model now comes with a command post. I am the same as the OP, I don't fit on a men's bike and just love the fact that there are so many options now for the ladies.
  6. They have been doing these for a while now, this is just the new version.
  7. Wow, don't know if its a location thing Don't know if different locations make a difference, but we pay less than that for someone who works full-time cleaning and looking after my son. Normally in my area people pay +- R200 daily if you want someone once a week or on an adhoc basis.
  8. Been sick for the last month :-( I suffer badly with sinus this time of year and with colds on top of sinus it makes everything worse. Unfortunately haven't been sick enough to warrant going to the doc, but sick enough to not be able to train properly which sucks.
  9. There is a very good primary school for kids with Autism in Parklands (Tableview). It helps them transition to main stream schools later when they are more able to cope. Classes are kept nice and small and kids gets to socialise with other kids like them so don't feel so different. Tableview is just down the road from Durbanville. Like others have said, Stellenbosch, Somerset West (there is even a 3.2km loop in a park in the middle of town with jumps and other fun stuff to play on) and Durbanville are great for families and mtbing. One thing in Cape Town is if you are looking at Private schools, you need to get your kids names down now already. in some areas, the schools have long waiting lists. We tried one school when my son was 18 months and they were already full for when he would start. Personally, I wouldn't look at Southern Suburbs. Only really technical option is Tokai, but it gets really busy and its quite far to travel to other trails and its overpriced.
  10. I love my XT trail pedals. Gives me more confidence.
  11. Sorry, didn't miss your sarcasm, just replied to the wrong post.
  12. What about all the riders that have booked accommodation close enough to ride to the start. Also need to take into account logistics of parking. Lots of people catch the trains, my citi busses or cycle to the start so less cars.
  13. If you are short on points, go to Pick and Pay and buy the +- R3 snack packs that are part of the healthy food. You get points for each pack. My Vitality check appointment got cancelled in December last year as the nurse was sick. Couldn't get another appointment as they were closed between Xmas and new year. Made up my points by going to gym and buying healthy food, lol.
  14. Loving It. My favourite show at the moment. Didn't enjoy the first episode, thought it was some boring romantic thing, boy was I wrong. Some of the things are really gory though like them showing the whipping of his back last week.
  15. Our latest addition Emmet (main character in the lego movie). We had been trying for over 6 months to adopt a lab, but it was just disappointment after disappointment. We finally got one, but it turned out to be very aggressive towards our other lab and possessive of us. Almost bit my husbands arm when our other dog came near him. Sadly we had to give him back. My son cried for the next hour and didn't even want to go to his best friends birthday party. 2 days later a guy at my work was telling me about the puppies he got. On a spur of the moment thing we went that night to look and fell in love with this little guy. Bassett cross Border Collie, talk about a mix of opposites.
  16. Thought I was the only one that felt like that. Was very disappointed. The singletrack that we did ride can be ridden any time with no traffic.. However I thought today was a lot better. Really enjoyed some of the tracks.
  17. I saw so many in hub kit and hats. Who were the guys in the Maroon Toyota? One guy was wearing a really cool angry birds shirt.
  18. My son with his little 20 inch. Such an awesome little bike.
  19. My beautiful Rumour Expert and my dads Stumpy ready for the start of Berg and Bush
  20. Interesting read. So if you don't eat enough dairy products, you don't get all the essential nutrients. I follow this thread out of interest, but haven't tried it as majority of the recipes etc that I have seen involve dairy. I am sadly allergic to dairy products (even the lactose free ones) What I would be interested to know is if its possible to stick to this diet without eating dairy?
  21. The timing of Die Burger (30 Nov) this year clashes with the Origin or Trails (28/29th Nov). Don't think I want to ride Die Burger after 2 days tough mtbing in Stellenbosh. What is sad is that its my last chance to get seeded :-(
  22. Very difficult to get enough iron. Some veggies etc contain it, but your body doesn't absorb it as easily as it does from read meet. If you don't have enough iron, you won't have as much energy so I am sure if will affect your cycling performance unless you find another way to get the required iron.
  23. So I made a mistake of riding when I wasn't 100% and ended up sicker than I've ever been. Picked up a virus from my son on top of my standard September allergies. On day 3 of antibiotics and steroids now and fever has dropped, but chest is still buggered. Can't even walk at a normal pace and I'm out of breath :-( Really bad couple of viruses going around the Cape at the moment.
  24. I find things like green tea help to suppress the appetite. My problem is more volume than what I am eating, I like my food! I put on weight at all the stage races I did, even berg and bush when it was over 40 degrees. The moment I do a hard cycle, all I want is food and lots of it. I've found doing squad training is really helping. 40 min of high impact swimming and i'm finally shedding the kilo's.
  25. Not true! A lot of guys won't move over for a chick, especially on a downhill. I mean imagine what their friends will save if a girl beat them downhill..........
