  1. Ha Ha Ha.... It is called Marketing. The idea is to get you into the store, and to buy stuff that you did not know you needed, till you got there.
  2. I don't mind paying teh race fees or PPA memebership fees. If I couldn't afford it, I wouldn't use it, no different from anything else. If I cannot afford a helicopter trip around the city, tehn I do without it. You okes like to winge about what you are paying for and what you are getting. A smoker pays more for his smokes in a week than what I pay for a cycle race. (Perspective) A meal for me and my wife is equivalent to my race money in the month of FEB. (Perspective) 1 Speeding ticket = ???? (Perspective) My bro from London reckons we are spoilt with our PPA organised events, they have 1 race every once in a while (less than 1/month), start time between 8 and 9, at least our PPA events specify the start time. Stop moaning. Lets pay and attend so that we can have more. Nothing in life is free.
  3. What do you guys and girls think of Energy Gels. I eat 1 or 2 banana's on long rides (+2hrs) and during race, I also drink an energy drink. My current on bike diet does not have a negative side effect, but will I get more vooma if I switch to gels?
  4. I will be there, looking foreward to lovely weather and a great ride.
  5. I love riding with my earphones. Can't wait for technology advances to develop a monitor that can hande the sunlight, then I can watch my training dvd's or whatever movie tickles my fancy
  6. Very Cool !!! Where are they available from?
  7. Wait for me, Don't slam the door, I am going with you
  8. Weight is the major part of your solution. I am 1.93m, was 108kg 15mnths ago, now 87kg.... focus on nutrition, keep the pedals turning consistently and you will float up climbs.
  9. Damn, that is bad. I hope your dad is ok now.
  10. I once had some pain on outside of right knee. Suspected it had to do with alignment of cleat, felt as if heel of foot was positioned to far into wheel. Wanted to see someone 'professional', but the effort involved and the scarcity of these persons made me procrastinate. Eventually tweaked cleat myself to what felt 'natural'(concentrated on getting a vertically straight feel to pedal action). 2-3 days later knee pain had completely disappeared.
  11. With a measuring tape
  12. Warm up should take 20-30min. But to be really efficient I suggest you get a hr monitor, and learn to train in hr zones, you will see huge benefits.
  13. Training Peaks is by far the best.
  14. Did the same and got a set of easton ec70 + gators. Received 2 wks ago, awesome awesome wheels.
  15. They look awesome, I would buy a prince or fp7, if I had the bucks, it has APPEAL!!!
  16. It is not only about the minutes shaved off, and whether that is Rx000 worth. I enjoy my sport / my hobby, and I enjoy all the gadgets and technological advancements that go with it. I train hard, I ride hard, I spend a lot of money on my sport / hobby, and it provides me with a really lekker feeling. The missus gets enough from me, my cycling is FOR ME !!!
  17. My edge 500 is on order. Hee hee hee cannot wait.
  18. John o Connor cycles and Olympic cycles, both in cape town, do dales.
  19. I found reading your comments, inspiring. I too battle with the boredom issue, I use music to alleviate, and I also believe in its power to generate improvements. Just knowing that I am not alone, will be motivation for tonights session.
  20. This is a great idea. And I would love to see something like this become reality. To make it happen will need serious sponsorship. A good marketing job will need to be done to win some sponsors.
  21. It is crap you got hit. Good thing is the freelander stopped. I don't think you have much in terms of rights, just claim from your insurance
  22. Yes I am a roadie. Also taking a month off for spiritual reasons, muslim - ramadaan - fasting Any of you guys using online coaching? Or is that for top cyclists only, top 30 Argus finishers etc??
  23. Hi, How do you keep motivated to your training programme? I have been cycling consistently 10 months now, and about to take a month off before restarting mid sept. While I have been consistent there have been the odd moments where I strayed or was lazy to adhere to my programme. No big deal... however the vibe of something new kept me going, and I wouldn't want my next phase of cycling to be marred by not sticking to a continuously set of improving cycle training goals. Is anyone using a online training journal / coach / web training programmes such as training peaks.com? Or any other form of sounding board that keeps you going.
  24. Pics and price?
  25. He may be a loud mouth TEXAN, but he has done a lot for cycling, and has put good social initiatives in place. I don't like Americans, less so loud mouth ones, but I have a healthy dose of respect for Lancie boy
