  1. https://www.cyclelab.com/product/2021-liv-tempt-e-plus-1-29-lady-s-e-mountain-bike Hi gents in the know, what are the differences between the various Giant Liv bikes seeing that they are lady orientated, nice girly colours. The prices seem reasonable, but which model is best bang for buck. https://www.cyclelab.com/product/2021-liv-tempt-e-plus-2-lady-s-e-mountain-bike Dont think my wife would mind 27.5 wheels, not sure if a person should still rather stick with 29 ers, we do mostly xc, bit of single track, not hectic, lots of uphills.
  2. Very cool, so what is the weight then?
  3. Shew, thats good going actually Andreas.
  4. Shot thanx Chris
  5. Hi Chris, thanx for the comments, ideas, advise. I am looking at Centurion as well, see they based in Cpt, only heard good things about that brand.
  6. Hi Chris, yip, it must be an MTB as we do loops from our house into the mountains. XC and a bit of single track, nice uphill's. 29 wheels, small frame will do. I hear you about the races, well noted. It seems Giant have nice affordable ish ladies e mtb's, not really sure what other brands to look at to be honest. Going back to when we ride together, the loop is 20km, if we do a race she will also only do the 25km, so i recon even an entry level e bike will have enough battery power....
  7. On a different note but kind of related. My wife does not have the time to train and i still want us to ride together during the week / weekends, without leaving her behind. A friend i spoke to said he bought his wife an e bike now she keeps up, pushes him And she is still getting a good work out, lets say 20km ride each time. I just bought her a silverback AL5 with a few mods, small, so what would be a good e bike option to look at, second hand is fine, older is fine, i really dont have bucks to splash around. Can a person get something decent for her for say 40K? I would need to sell or trade in the AL5 though as well. My same friend also said on the last race they did together, think it was a 40 kay with hectic elevation, his wife stayed with him all the way, battery still had 50% power, she was on a second hand giant liv e bike. I think this is cool as you can do races together, if they allow same start times, just looking for possibilities here....thanx all.
  8. Hi guys, thanx, yip, vat is charged in UK, and then in SA, eish, will think about this...thanx.
  9. Hi guys, looking at buying a set of pedals from merlin cycles uk, will use my global shopper aramex account. Would i pay import duties or just vat? As i recall bike parts are duty free?
  10. Thanx Shaper, looked on my account, for my normal discovery platinum credit card they charge me R100 per month, so looking at the new discovery bank options either gold or platinum would do i think..
  11. Tnx Shnavel, will do some mmore pocking around, dont want any extra monthly costs now, thanx.
  12. What are the differences or advantages of moving over to discovery bank if i have just a platinum credit card. Is the bank fees the same, do i now need to spend a certain min spend?
  13. Frosty, thats what i also thought, but then i read that IF you have a discovery credit card you can still get it, but maybe i mis read.
  14. Wonder if anyone can advise: If i wanted to get an iphone 8 on active rewards what would it cost me per month if: I cycle 2 x per week, 300 points, over and hour, 75% of heart rate I spend 5k min on my discovery platinum card per month Its been raining allot, so cant cycle as per normal I have rewards activated Is there an initial deposit, is it cheaper just getting a small contract from mtn, vodacom? This is for my son as i am so tired of trading or buying, selling phones every 2 years, thought discovery might be an option but just not sure.
  15. Thanx guys, all understood. Problem is, life happens, for me to say i will get 900 points every week, 4 weeks in a row, dont think it will happen. But even if i do 400 points a week i guess it still counts for something. Re booster, dont think you can get an apple watch on booster at sportsmans, maybe its just garmins, fitbits etc... I am still leaning towards amazon, with shipping i can get a series 3 landed for 230usd, duties, vat, all in for R3 500. Space grey 38mm gps only. Will wait till november, massive black friday specials perhaps...
  16. Hi Reme, shot allot for your reply. So if i understand correctly, discovery charges a once off R999 fee on your credit card. The price or value of the so called watch is higher than what it sells for lets say on take allot. If you dont work out hard every week you dont get much refund. As you mentioned, you have to keep going the whole month, especially week 3 and 4. I guess its better to buy it out right and work out a normal.
  17. Hi guys, i just activated active rewards. Have never thought of it in the past as i dont like to jump thru loops to get this and that, a bit old school. So i have a few noob questions. I see they charge you a once off activation fee of almost R1 000, which goes of your discovery credit card, which ihave had for years. If you reach your weekly goals do they refund you that as well or not. They list for example a series 3 watch at R7 400, but i can get the same or very similar from amazon for 200usd. So do they add the R999 activation ontop of the R7 400 for the series 3. On takealot and istore the series 3 is R3 999 or similar/. So maybe the price has come down. I already have a decent watch, so would give this to my son for Christmas, i work out, get the goals, he uses the watch lol. Is my thinking on track here or what am i missing? I was also thinking of upgrading to discovery bank, i already spend over 5k per month on the card, so it seems if you opt for a gold card, thats R75 per month on bank fees, so much less than standard bank where i am currently. It seems not bad these watch and phone deals... If i mtb 3 x per week where i usually get 300 points, thats 900 points for the week, if i can do that lets say 2 x weeks out of the month then surely i am scoring compared to not using this whole active rewards?
