  1. Are there any people, wives, who have gone the e bike route and bought Giant liv's, What did you come from before, how you finding it?
  2. Hi Chris, shot for the info. There are not many, well nothing, e bikes second hand tickling my fancy, and they are not small frames either. The other issue is hard ass or soft tail, dual. Maybe with an e bike dual is not really needed - i have no idea. Maybe 27+ wheels will soften the blow...? My wife has the silverback stratos dual, so not sure if going e bike route hard tail is the answer, dual is going to cost a crap load, but having her ride with me, probably faster than me on my normal bike would be cool. Going to do allot more research before i pull the trigger.
  3. Hi guys, shot for the replies, not sure why those cyclelab links dont work, but here are the range, i will give Giant durbanville a call for sure, in no hurry but i want to get best bang for buck. https://www.liv-cycling.com/za/bikes/electric-bikes/electric-mountain-bikes
  4. https://www.cyclelab.com/product/2021-liv-tempt-e-plus-1-29-lady-s-e-mountain-bike Hi gents in the know, what are the differences between the various Giant Liv bikes seeing that they are lady orientated, nice girly colours. The prices seem reasonable, but which model is best bang for buck. https://www.cyclelab.com/product/2021-liv-tempt-e-plus-2-lady-s-e-mountain-bike Dont think my wife would mind 27.5 wheels, not sure if a person should still rather stick with 29 ers, we do mostly xc, bit of single track, not hectic, lots of uphills.
  5. Hi Chris, thanx for the comments, ideas, advise. I am looking at Centurion as well, see they based in Cpt, only heard good things about that brand.
  6. Hi Chris, yip, it must be an MTB as we do loops from our house into the mountains. XC and a bit of single track, nice uphill's. 29 wheels, small frame will do. I hear you about the races, well noted. It seems Giant have nice affordable ish ladies e mtb's, not really sure what other brands to look at to be honest. Going back to when we ride together, the loop is 20km, if we do a race she will also only do the 25km, so i recon even an entry level e bike will have enough battery power....
  7. On a different note but kind of related. My wife does not have the time to train and i still want us to ride together during the week / weekends, without leaving her behind. A friend i spoke to said he bought his wife an e bike now she keeps up, pushes him And she is still getting a good work out, lets say 20km ride each time. I just bought her a silverback AL5 with a few mods, small, so what would be a good e bike option to look at, second hand is fine, older is fine, i really dont have bucks to splash around. Can a person get something decent for her for say 40K? I would need to sell or trade in the AL5 though as well. My same friend also said on the last race they did together, think it was a 40 kay with hectic elevation, his wife stayed with him all the way, battery still had 50% power, she was on a second hand giant liv e bike. I think this is cool as you can do races together, if they allow same start times, just looking for possibilities here....thanx all.
  8. Hi Morne, see below, not a bad deal. I have V12's, super grippy, nice and wide, slight concave, so far so good. https://bike-addict.co.za/collections/flat-pedals/products/dmr-v12-alloy-flat-pedal
  9. I also like things grips, foam or rubber, what do u guys advise? Lock on? Length?
  10. Nice comments Strange how we all getting numb feet...regardless of flats or clipped in.
  11. Tnx guy, actually thinking about lock on options as these keep on rotating, just glued them now....again. want a foam feel, soft, not thick, checking whats out there...
  12. I also rode for years with Indola. There fabric is thick, like super strong. They started looking old, tired, so got fox rangers as well, but they longer, almost by the knee. The thing with baggies is the way it looks when its on your, sometimes they flare, cant really explain it. If i had to look again i would have normal wrestle mania outfit and find non padded skinnier fitting pants to put over mania...
  13. Hi P, also true, wonder what shipping will be, will ask them as well as specs, size, shot.
  14. Hi guys, has anyone bought a pair of these? I like the price, ergo type flat parts fit, colour options. I am currently on foam grips, but they getting old, this seems like a good deal, just not sure how wide they are, cant find any sort of spec info online at all on them - strange.... https://bike-addict.co.za/collections/grips-bar-tape-1/products/lizzard-guna-foam-grips
  15. Yithee, this is going to be an amazing ride, all carbon, nice shock, race weapon!
  16. Pic from other side, the side that matters
  17. Hi Roxy, i have a superspeed 2. Best bike i have ever had. I upgraded fork to Reba Remote. Added dropper, best addition ever. DMR V12 magnesium pedals. Different grips. Changed to a 34 front so you have a bit more speed [excuse the pun] The amount of gears is enough, even for steep climbs. You wont be sorry if you can get your hands on a small size and pimp it a bit. With dropper mine weighs in at just over 11kg. All cables internal, even dropper. Hard Tails for the win!
  18. Hi Spider. Are there bike shops where you stay. Have you test riden anything yet? Will you do flat, gravel, climbing, xc type, or technical trails, forests, hectic stuff....Have you made 100% sure on bike fit, maybe at a bike shop, to actually see what size fits you. Also, you must like how the bike looks, sounds stupid, but you must be happy with what you bought. Also, carbon sometimes is not the be all and end all. Some Alu bikes come in at 12kg, some under that, where carbon might only be 1kg lighter. If you have a budget of say 15k, you can get a good new bike or really good second hand, but then again, you need to view the bike options, see it for yourself, ride it, pics look different to real life. You will still need to shell out bucks on a helmet, padded shorts, decent pedals, clothing. Allot of bike shops let you test ride in the parking lot or wherever. See what you like, slacker or steeper, chill or aggressive. As i said, and others said as well, it all depends on what riding you gonna do.
  19. Hi Spider, a quick google, this is the 2020 model i assume: https://www.mellowvelo.co.za/shop/bikes/hardtail-mtb/merida-big-nine-3000-carbon-2020/
  20. The rest of the components look good to. Seeing is believing. But a carbon bike like this seems very tempting at that price. I have no idea how old it is though.
