  1. Last thing you want is a Run away bike....
  2. Hi GTR, this is also my go to old school method. When i do this my leg is not fully straight, i am glad you mentioned this. I think i will up it by a few mm and go do my usual 20km route, see how it feels, make sure i am not rocking on the saddle. Thanx all.
  3. Hi guys, i get the feeling that my saddle could go a tad higher, like a very small bit. Looking at MTB saddle height on google, it says that you should still have a slight bend in your leg when at bottom of stroke. Like i said, it feels as if i could go higher as when i pedal, my knees look bent, as if they could stretch out more. Does anyone else have this. I feel as i might be loosing power and its not good for me in the long run. Looking at others while cycling, it seems there legs stretch out almost straight. I know the ins and outs, saddle to high, and your ass starts shifting side to side, i guess i must just push it up by mm and see how it goes. Just thought i would ask, see what others have to say.
  4. Hi guys, looking at this thread again. Has anyone custom wrapped there bike. I assume you then have additional decals to stick on afterwards or what has most done. Would be nice to see before and after pics. How does cost compare to a custom respray?
  5. Also just throwing it out there..... 1. Can be too much pressure on hands 2. Stem to short 3. Stem / bars not high enough [use all your spacers] 4. Seat tilt, i have a very slight tilt up, helps with numb hands 5. Is your seat very high compared to bar height 6. Bar sweep angle, width. As the guys said above, a bike fit will help allot.
  6. As Mud said: If only... someone invented a kind of chainring that had two different sizes.. maybe with a device to switch between them? This is dam funny!
  7. Gumi that is nice, landed cost all in?
  8. I might get shot down but i have never had an issue with crossmarks, i like them because they roll fast, always have, maybe thats why they standard issue on so many bikes. I have also not had flats with them. I ride the 2.25's. I once put on 2.35's Icons, i could immediately feel they were more grippy but slower for sure. Felt allot slower on long climbs, also due to the wider 2.35 size, it does make a difference. For me, and my fitness level, i want as fast a rolling tyre as possible, and possibly as light as possible. A good combo for me would be aspen 2.25 in front and cross mark at the back, but as i said, everyone has there own preferences.
  9. Forgot to add, i have always loved remote lock outs, and the scott's lock out system is insane, freeken love it, was a big reason i went for it. Just my 2 cents.
  10. I also moved from a Silverback superspeed 2 carbon hard tail to a second hand scott spark world cup rc900 with ultimate sid. I am way more comfy, i am getting old, so wanted less racy stance, less pressure on my hands. The scott is brilliant at everything.
  11. Giant / Liv, also make a nice range, from 10k up to 17k for hard tails. What i have found is allot of woman like the look and feel of Giant's, so perhaps something to look at. https://www.liv-cycling.com/za/bikes-tempt-2021
  12. Hi Mtb Girl, where are you based, what bike shops are in and around your area. Business is tight, they must give you awesome service and advise. I am sure there will be allot of people that will start to give you advise shortly. You also spending allot of money on your technically first bike. So you must be 100% happy. My wife has changed her bike three times in 10 years, and always its been to a lighter bike, now lately, full suspension. But i would look at: 1 by gearing, which both have, so thats good. Good shock / fork, the better quality ones are actually lighter as well. Total bike weight Stand over, so when you stand, the top tube is not near you. This is why some ladies, girls, prefer woman specific frames. As i said, allot of advise will come shortly.
  13. Shop around, i am sure there are better deals. I see that silverback for under 15k on other sites. It also seems the Scott is lighter. Enjoy shopping!
  14. Ya, at your height i think a small size frame is correct.
  15. Hi there, R1 400 to go tubeless sounds a bit hectic. What height are you, size frame the bike shop suggests? Silverback has always been good, more value for money, lightweight frames, good parts, i have had 3 x silverbacks.
  16. And then for R113 000 the Scott weighs 10.8kg: https://bike-addict.co.za/collections/scott-29er-dual-suspension/products/scott-spark-rc-900-world-cup-axs-2020
  17. Does this ultimate Rs come in under 11kg, surely? For 100k it needs to be light.
  18. That Titan is really nice. What weight does it come in at?
  19. Like someone said many pages ago. We buy second hand to save bucks, sometimes big bucks, and we take that risk. We trust the pics and info we see, we trust our gut feel. I must say, selling 'for a Friend' can only end bad, rather just sell your own bike.
  20. I think I have learnt something from all these posts, and I might be horribly wrong, but I only lube once a week, and that's me and my wife's bike, 60 to 80km per week. Yesterday was also the first time I ever decreased our chains, cassette, jockeys. Don't think I'm up for that once a week. Maybe once a month. Maybe a slightly dry chain versus over lubed is better, I don't know....but some valuable comments here none the less.
  21. I've also noticed grime build up on jockey wheels, is this normal? I lube once a week, we do 60km per week.
  22. Hey Rox, LBS installed my dropper when i had my super speed [sold it a while back], but i never had a days problem, very good value, lightweight in my opinion for what you pay, worked a treat.
