  1. give him a taste of your "harem"? No! No! No!' date=' i don't have any Harem's Only Cannondale's; Cervelo's; Colango's; Bianchi & BMC[/quote'] Hey Crux - you have a BMC as well !!!!! (and yes I did notice the plural on the other'S as well !!!) An 's is not plural, it is possesive. By just adding a s after makes it plural. ie: Only Cannondales, Cerv?los, Colnagos, a Bianchi and a BMC. But doesn't that mean he possesses many Cannondales, Cerv?los, Colnagos !!!!racman2008-05-14 06:07:59

  4. Congrats !!!!!!
  5. I am sure but does it look as good as the 08 Commencal.
  6. I have looked at them but also looked at What Mountain Bike review which was not fantastic (The Element 50 I think) as mentioned lots of pedal bob. I also think they mentioned that there was very little rear tire clearance. However I have had no first hand knowledge of the bikes.
  7. Hey rock, check my editted post on the previous page again !!
  8. Was quite keen on the Commencal but the spec seems quite a bit lower than on similar priced in the market. Hi Racman' date=' I would be interested to know which bikes you compared the meta 4 to, as in my opinion, our specs and the current pricing on our 07 bikes are very competitive. Thanks.[/quote'] Hey JLDAM, compared specs to Mongoose Canaan Elite which, to be fair to the Commencal, seems to have a better spec than most other similar priced offerings. My shortlist so far is as follows in no particular order: 1) Giant Anthem 1 - but some have said that the imited shock travel makes it more specific to XC 2) Merida AM-3000D 3) Felt Virtue 2 4) Commencal Meta 4.? (will see what the specials are when I am ready) 5) Mongoose Canaan (same comment as above) 6) No specialized - I am already SPECIAL so will probably not need a bike to try and make me believe that I am !!! One of the best bits of advice I saw on the Hub recently was that, irrespective of slight spec differences and all things being relatively equal in terms of ride, one should buy the bike that appeals to the heart the most. As far as that goes, my heart is leaning towards the Commencal, Felt and Merida choice. I can't get used to the Canaan looks and construction around the rear shock - looks ugly to me. The giant is excellent but doesn't really appeal to me. Anyway, will see if I can organise some test rides next month as I get closer to the purchase. P.S. Love the look of the Cannondale "Lefty" but I think they are out of my price range But if I can stretch my budget I will probably get this: racman2008-05-13 07:31:33
  9. I thought it was only the stickers saying "Made in TAiwan", that were made in Taiwan !!
  10. Is the box of choc and flowers for you to give me the R15k discount or for my wife to avoid the big question about the actual cost?!!!! (of course I prefer the former)racman2008-05-12 06:17:12
  11. didn't they have a few problems with the Canaan frame ?- heard there was a recall a while ago but I may be mistaken.

    VR IDT?

Currently use a Tacx Flow but was considering a IDT with a bit more info and variety. Any views on the VR trainer route and available options, incl price?
  17. Decided to try and increase my budget to R20k for a new MTB. I have looked at the following options: 1) Giant Anthem 1 2) Felt Virtue 2 3) Specialized FSR XC 4) BMC Fourstroke 03 frame and build 5) Trek Fuel ? I will use for XC and a bit of racing so am not really looking for AM bikes etc. Previous experience with a FS was not great due to excessive pedal bob but I believe that this was as a result of design, shock or setup problems. Any comments, ideas or alternatives would be appreciated (as would sticking to the topic and resisting the temptation to hijack !!!)racman2008-05-11 05:15:11
  18. Hey, here's a novel idea. How about e-mailing or sending a PM to Andrew (or any bike shop owner on the HUB) FIRST to clarify issues before publically slamming them! No- I am not a CycleLab club or shop supporter. Why don't people PM other hubbers first to try and clarify issues either. I understand that there are genuine cases of complaints or unresolved issues but to publically slate someone or a shop before trying to resolve or get the other side is a poor show. (Or maybe we should rename the Hub, Die SON !!)
  19. The HardTails are very good value. I am considering the Sierra or Nabraska and there is nothing that compares with the specs at that price point.
  20. Hey hagar, probably attacking the Spez guys cause I have been feeling a little guilty about considering a BIG move (don't tell BMC FAN). The blood is not from the nose but from the eyes - I have been doing a LOT of forum browsing !!!!
  21. Hey BB, you won't believe it. I was waiting to check the first SPECIAL person's response time - 9min !! NOT BAD. (of course I can't argue with Tom Boonen, but there's always Lance!!)
  22. Ok, so I've been browsing a few cycling forums from all over the world in the last few weeks. (Sorry Admin, I feel so dirty and rotten now ) It's been great to expand the cycling horizons a bit and noticed a few things for comment if you like: 1) There a A#$%holes all over the world (if it's not you then please don't get offended, but if it is ....) 2) It's like one big familly with everyone sharing the same passion 3) The Campy vs ShimaNO war is not just a Souf Effriken thing !! 4) The vintage cycle movement is BIG - everywhere. Special sctions in some forums for threads and posts. 5) While there are exceptions, most people buy expensive bicycles, components, wheels etc because they appreciate them and not because they are the hottest racers. Everyone seems to appreciate something of beauty and craftsmanship. In SA it appears sometimes that this is not always the case, but I may be incorrect. 6) I have been browsing one forums Cool pix while on a ride" and am amazed at the pics of people cycling to work and recreationally in the snow and rain etc. All in all it has been quite an inspiring experience and I plan to spend a few more evenings researching the global cycling community. Though I would share that Oh yes, I forgot. Poeple who ride Specialized bicycles also think that it means that they are also SPECIAL - all over the world !!! (clearly an INTERNATIONAL illusion!!!!)racman2008-04-14 01:59:40
