  1. i hear the look pedals are difficult to setup
  2. I am looking buying new pedals but cant decide between look quartz , time atac or shimano xt pedals. I am looking for a no fuss pedal really. Any advice?
  3. THANKS WAS JUST WONDERING CAUSE IT SAYS RIMS NOT FOR SALE OUTSIDE EU. thinking about rebuilding my oiz since nobody seems to appreciate the frame.
  4. Has anyone been able to order custom wheels with mavic rims from CRC?
  5. I got red now on my road bike
  6. I saw the sign too. I dont think anyone must hold their breath in getting money from them. As far as internet is concerned, my 62 year old father i law did a self installation of his home adsl with telkom. up and running in 48 hours. I know of someone who does not have the internet/credit cards who handed bikehut his money in september to enter him in the argus and they never did. He had to run around just before substitutions closed to get an entry. I can`t remember if they refunded him his money or not but will confirm with him. the same happened to two of his friends.
  7. Maybe this helps you. My friend found that the red hoods caused him to overreach compared to his DA and he shortened his stem. I have found mine to be very comfartable but you do ride in slightly different position.
  8. RAVO tandems are brought in by cape cycle systems so you should have backup. I have one with 105 sti and FSa gossamer cranks. The wheels are sealed hubs and they turn forever. Once you up to speed it just goes. For the money it is a good buy. I weighed mine with two sets ultegra pedals and 5 ordinary metal cages and 2 computers = 17.0kg on by digital bathroom scale.
  9. hi Johan they will have to be built up from scratch. Who in Cape town can do this. Sorry, but i love AMC wheels. I have a pair 420 i have been riding for more than 4 years with no probs.
  10. So i can use the aerolite spokes? what do you think of aerolite vs rev spokes in terms weight? I tried their spoke calculator, i must admit i could not get it to work will try again.
  11. I am toying with the idea of building up a pair of american classic 350 rims(28 hole) to american classic 350 hubs(28 hole). I was thinking of getting Sapim aero spokes or DT aerolite spokes. Which one is better? And where could i find them. Are they worth the effort or would one get a similar weight with DT revolution spokes. Any idea as what size spokes i would need for font and rear hubs?
  12. A few month ago i converted my and a friend`s American Classics . I used strapping tape(sellotape with a mesh) cut the role in half making it just wide enough to seat snugly in the rim. I rolled it just once around over rim tape. stuck in a tubeless valve(cut 2 size so tyre could fit) & 2 cups stans each tire and pumped up with floor pump. sealed first time. I have maxxis tubeless tires and friend had specialised tubeless tire. Total cost R75 per wheel
  13. one should also bear in mind that specialized shoes have a built in wedge which does not work for everyone. I have gone back to my old faithfull shimano shoes. I am now sitting with a pair of Specialized shoes(white one with ratchet size 44) which i got in nov and last used for the argus. PM if you interested
  14. I have owned two raleigh`s before i got my orca. they were good bikes but the orbea`s are in a different class. Anyway : M installed a button on my Orbea Octopussy which morphs it into a Raleigh Moonraker by changing the colour orbeaorca2008-05-15 14:58:04
  15. thanks for all feedback. Work been very busy & i have not been able to get back earlier. I took the bike up rhodes to the block house on saturday. It really climbs well and just soaks up all the bumps. I am still trying to figure out the shock pressure. At least by brains dont feel blended and my bum as if it was out for the night in Green point. would i have bought a new raleigh 09(if i could get one) or the orbea. will post pic my roadbike for answer.
  16. I have decided to upgrade my twelve year old mtb with no front or rear shock. I now understand why i did not continue riding the bike offroad for long
  17. yes sorry am talking about road as it is old hat for offroading.
  18. has anyone used these wheels ? are they any good/better? is tubeless tires easily available
  19. thanks for all responses.I posed the question because my friend who also had a massage on the same day started having a pain in both his hamstrings on the blue route. I advised him to go. I think more and more it was not the massage as I went for a ride on saturday and did not feel a twinge at all. i have been mindful of changing my shoes/cleats.When i did it before it took me a while to get it right. so i have been riding unchanged since the DC and painfree. the answer may be in what ronelle says. I changed the black plastic wear plates on dura ace pedals on saturday night because the other was worn down. I asssume then my cleats would have been held tighter and able to move less freely. Looking at my cleats. my right cleat is on skew. It points my big toe towards the crank and by heel away. because there was such a lot of play on my pedal previously it did not bother me.
  20. when i got to UCT on the argus, I got this searing painnot cramp in my right quad and ITB which lmited my climbing for the rest of the time. could this be from the vigorous sport massage i had last thursday? do you need more than the three days to recover?
  21. HI there fanie. My friend has a blue orbea OPAL size 57 that he wants to sell for 10500. It is in immaculate condition as he is obsessive about looking after his bike.
  22. the flex was apparently caused by the fork on the first orca which was corrected by the newZAGA fork on the new orca. I have the full review from bikeradar from cyclingplus mag in PDF will mail to anyone that wants just PM me.
  23. you just have to get an ORCA. THere is not many of them around. I see Olympic Cycles has a Blue 54 centimeter one like mine in store. I have had both and could never find the flex on the older one that the reviews talk about it gave a smooth ride. The new one is stiffer and more response. I am not the best decender and the orca is stable as hell and not twitchy. You always feel like you can go faster.
