  3. Hi PETER M wont you ask this guy if they are using Argus 2009 as the base event for all the seeding events like 94.7 etc. If he is doing this then it will be fair cause everyone will get a messed up index to seed them in the Argus 2010. However if we in the Cape get the Burger compared with Argus 09 and the 94.7(2009) gets compared to 94.7 (2008) then that is unfair. The obvious answer you will get is that the burger was too fast therefore increase everyones index and the 94.7 was consistent with the previous year therefore index will remain.
  4. My friend asked me if the Burger index was calculated correctly cause despite Improving on his engen time by 22 min his index only improved by less than 5. He has trained hard and completed his first DC. WINNER HIS TIME INDEX ENGEN 227 257 60.08 BURGER 223 235 64.8 It does not seem likely that it could be from the winner being 4min faster. They must have adjusted the beta factor they use in a big way. If i understand it they would compare your index you got in the burger to your base event then if you did too well then they would assume that the burger was to easy and penalize you by changing the beta factor so your index would increase. I have a couple of questions. 1. Why would the beta be so different between two rides on the same course? The faster winning time from the better field is a penalty in itself. Is the field being punished because they are fitter at the burger 2. I assume they would have used the Argus 2009 as the base event. How can you use this as a base event considering the nature of the day when everyone was off the mark and there will be a difference in indexes? Lots people trained specifically for the Burger considering they did so poorly in the argus. SO did you get penalized twice by using the argus? 3. would the beta factor have been different if you used last years burger was the base event? probably 4. Is this a question of garbage in garbage out? 5. Is this new model they are using far less objective and more subjective by trying to factor in for to many things.
  5. I forget you could possibly also contact HPCSA. This is from their website http://www.hpcsa.co.za/service-fees-and-tariffs.php The NHRPL 2009 (National Health Reference Price List (RPL) - 2009) has been published by the National Department of Health. The National Health Reference Price List is intended to serve as a baseline against which medical schemes can individually determine benefit levels and health service providers can individually determine fees charged to patients. Medical schemes may, for example, determine in their rules that their benefit in respect of a particular health service is equivalent to a specified percentage of the national health reference price list. It is especially intended to serve as a basis for negotiation between individual funders and individual health care providers with a view to facilitating agreements which will minimise balance billing against members of medical schemes. Should individual medical schemes wish to determine benefit structures, and individual providers determine fee structures, on some other basis without reference to this list, they may do so as well. Practitioners are allowed to charge patients at the rate at which medical schemes are prepared to reimburse their claims. However, charges by practitioners above the rate at which medical schemes are prepared to reimburse their claims must be done with the patient's informed consent. Any charge up to and possibly exceeding the Council's ethical tariff must be negotiated and agreed upon with the patient. Important ruling on ethical Tariffs The Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) has taken a decision to scrap its ethical tariffs used by doctors as a ceiling for patient accounts in future. This decision will come into effect once the Department of Health has finalized its extensive consultative process with stakeholders in determining a new National Health Reference Price List (NHRPL). As a regulatory body aiming at protecting the public consumers of healthcare services, the HPCSA will, however, still retain its authority to determine whether a practitioner has overcharged a patient or not, in terms of Section 53 of the Health Professions Act 1974. In order to make this determination, the HPCSA has adopted the following principles: a practitioner shall charge a non-insured patient the NHRPL rate except where the patient provides written informed consent for a billing higher than the NHRPL rate and any charge above the NHRPL rate without the patient?s consent shall be deemed to be overcharging; a practitioner may charge a private-paying insured patient a rate payable by the Medical Scheme to which that patient belongs or is a member if it is higher than the NHRPL rate provided that any rate higher than the rate payable by the Medical Scheme shall be deemed to be overcharging, except where the patient has given written informed consent for a charge higher than the Medical Scheme rate; and for the purposes of determining whether the patient has provided informed consent, the practitioner is required to indicate to the patient the prevailing NHRPL or Medical Scheme rate for whatever procedure the patient presents for as well as the difference between that rate and the rate the practitioner intends to charge as well as the amount that the patient may have to pay in addition to the stipulated rate
  6. When I hear stories like I think man I must be doing something wrong here I am charging way to little for my services. Hell I dont even have a credit card machine. I think female gynaes and surgeons are some of the worse for this. Because I serve mostly people from the lower socio economic areas even though they are medical aid they dont just have the money for this kind of co payment. I go to great lengths to find specialist who will see my patients at reasonable rates. Dont speak to the receptionist insist on talking directly to the doctor if you want a discount. We should all wake up before hand and ask what their rates are behorehand other get your GP to refer you to someone else. The anaesthetist after your op when you query your account which like way over medical rates tells but if you had negotiated and paid him before the op you would have gotten this massive discount. YOu only see him like 30min before the op and who takes a wallet to theatre and they going to lie their naked.
  7. My wife is at standard bank and her credit card also got rebilled for a purchase from Diesel made two months ago. So it is not just the Argus but Nedbank indeed orbeaorca2009-11-27 08:02:50

  9. my friend had a warranty claim on a Arione. Excuse after excuse for more than 3 months. He confronted her at the Argus EXpo about it. The truly amazing bit was that suddenly his warranty saddle was in her boot and she was going to call him. He had in the mean time bought him a saddle not fizik
  10. I got two brackets from Cycle lab. They look better than hold fast ones. They work well for my Tandem and MTB as you hang them by the frame and not wheels. Northgate should have them
  11. cant get get 269 would 268 and 270 work instead?
  12. Hi johan I also want to respoke my 420 rear wheel with new spokes hence specs of th AC rear hub. I am trying to work out what length spokes I should get 2 do this
  13. THANKS Johan for the trouble. Would the spoke length remain the same if i use sapim cx ray spokes with 14mm nipples? does the 14mm nipples vs 12 mm affect the spoke length? On american classic website they say the length of the spoke for the AC420 is 273 but if you not using their nipples then you must take off two which would make it 271mm which i cant seem to find. If i were to use the same cx ray spokes what size would i order 270 or 272 if i wanted to respoke my standard american classic 420 wheel? when i used the spoke calc i get l=271.4 and r=270.5 420 rim erd = 572 american classic hub specs diameter=66 c/right =30 c/left= 20 24 hole and 2 cross pattern orbeaorca2009-08-31 11:40:04

  20. WE HEARD ABOUT PEOPLE BEING FINED ON THE RADIO SO WENT TO GET MYSELF A NUMBERPLATE I THINK THE ORGANISERS OF THE KNYSNA CYCLE TOUR SHOULD SEND OUT A REMINDER FOR PEOPLE TO PUT A NUMBER PLATE ON THEIR RACK BECAUSE THEY WILL BE TARGETED. IF YOU GET FINED AFTER THAT THEN YOU CANT COMPLAIN. ANYWAY THAT IS THE LEAST THEY CAN DO FOR THE AMOUNT OF MONEY THEY CHARGED.
  21. I had pair beaut specialized shoes but they gave me the most horrible ITB problems which i fixed by going back to my old battered shimano shoes. That said all my friends are fine with their spez shoes. The amount of correction may have not been right for me and i would have had to go and have them setup with shims etc. It was just not worth the effort and money cause i had no pain with my shimano. I will now only buy shimano shoes and pedals
  22. Thanks all for your input. I have decided to stick with the shimano and get the Xtr pedals. since I have had problems using specialized road shoes and switching from look pedals
  23. Here is my new where it was lurking in the garage I have now been foregiven and can move it in the house.
