  1. I think on the epic you will notice a difference yeah some sections are quite rocky and rutted and you hit them at speed.
  2. American Classic X-12mm Thru Axle 142mm Conversion Axle http://www.buycycle.co.za/skins/austere/customer/images/icons/delete_product.gif CODE: 15014390 Qty: 1 x R289.00 = R289.00
  3. It all depends on how technical the stuff is that you ride, if you do normal XC with the odd peace of singletrack then no you wont notice a difference, If you like the rough stuff then you can see one hell of a difference. Well in my humble opinion at least. I am now sitting with a choice to either get upgrades on the cheaper QR version wheelsets and forks, or pay more for customized wheelset and limited choice in 20mm forks for XC bikes. Im rather spending the money I can see a major differnece especially in rocky rough singletrack on how my front end tracks and behaves. Its worth the money in my opinon.
  4. Clean green on your drivetrain
  5. At first guess if its the "tyres" that are flexing i would assume your running your pressures to low, if it was the rims that are flexing, it could just be that the rims are not stiff enough like some lower end rims, or you might need to look at your spoke tension as they might not be running true.
  6. Lol crow i know people that have paid 3k for Ti rotors becuase it saved them 30g on stock standard ones, I dont think its about the weight i think its so they can tune their buddys on a ride " hey duuuuuude guess how much my rotors cost"
  7. Enjoy the hub mate, and if you get roasted on your 5th post cuase you said something you should have dont stress about it, its a hub tradition. We sort out the meek from the tough From a diff part of the world so cant help you out but enjoy every KM on your sled mate.
  8. Morewood, only assembles welds and sprays the frames at the factory, all the parts are mahcined and molded in the east, I cant see Patric embracing a different business model now that he has Pyga. The kwela is totally made and assembled in the east as well.
  9. Whats the total wheight once you built it up.
  10. I dont know if its just me but we have such limited choices in SA, I could only come up with AM classics using adapters to make it fit, (not fond of using any conversion adapter) Custom made wheelset using hope hubs (wich we have plenty off in SA Or buying factory stock fulcrum red power wheels which are on the heavy side 1.9kg. Besides that havent seen many other choices around.
  11. that someone like Johan could probably answer its about 40grams on the fork, then obviously your thru axles weigh more than your QR's, not sure about the internals on the hubs, vs having adapters. Im going to get my new wheelset this week will then attempt to weigh and see whats the diff between a quality 142/12 and 20mm wheelset vs a stock wheelset.
  12. I ride 20mm thru axle front on my 29 with 142-12mm rear and it makes the world of difference as far as rigidty and stiffness is concerned, bike handles like and absolute dream on the rough stuff. There is a weight penalty but its worth it.
  13. BTW no im actually Gaelic does that make a differnece?
  14. Mintsauce im glad you read it that way go read the Momsem "special" thread and then come back to me with that same opinion. And I am playing nice, besides if you read it in context all frames are made in ASIA Momsen, payga, morewood (well the tubes anyway) and they are branded as SA. That Momsen sentance implies that momesen does nothing but import Asian designed frames and rebrands them as a SA product. I was merely pointing out to the chap that almost all bikes are made in ASIA and rebranded under their countries flags. Same as apple is made in korea but sold as an american product.
  15. Thanks dude you finally did the world a favour look at the BIG RED LETTERS as quoted above ... jeeez some people. Anyway back on topic now that our friend has found it difficult to win a debate on merrit. Will you stop buying a SB now that it says made in germany, does it really mean that much compared to the value for money aspect?
  16. would you like that in sparkly colours too?
  17. And your the one with your panties in a twist mate, I have no beef with you neither do I have any desire, I will point out where people have missconecptions regardless of who you are.
  18. your the one ranting about bikes being made in the east, i.e. SB and Momsen, up and till last year SB was desinged and engineered in SA, they sold out on proudly south african and this i agree with you on. Momsen are designed engineered and R&D in SA then like 99.9% of bike brands have their components made up in the east and you diss them for that, I would suggest you then need to diss, Santacruze, payga, Rocky Mountain, cannondale, specialized and every other bike brand out there.
  19. Hairy 100%, mate proudly souf afrikaan to proudly deutsch in one sprayjob. They should have stuck to their roots, though people are still going to buy it and now that its not a SA brand more people will probably buy it, they are trying to offer mass produced bikes at affordable rates, not niche bikes like Rocky, Morewood, payga, Santa, ellsworth etc. It just amazes me that people think their bikes werent molded CNC'd and welded in ASIA, hell even the Niche brands have the components made up in ASIA, Some might do the effort to solder the bits themselves but most dont. Like RM they have a huge engineering facility they hand build all their demo and proto type models at the factory, but once they have the winning design guess where it goes too for production?..........
  20. 99% of freaking alu and carbon bikes are made in the east FFS when are people going to realize this, TZmtb what bike do you ride ill let you know if yours was also made in the east like 99.9% of everyone elses bikes on the hub. A MTB is not about where its made, its about who designed it who tested it, etc. I really cant beleive people still think their bikes are special and wasnt made in the east.
  21. +1000 and you cant beat that suspension it just transfers all the power with no pedal bob its awesome
