  1. jeeez ok i give up what does a low profile tyre do increase or decrease the sidewall height?.... FFS dude seriously enough is enough you dont have a bloody clue.
  2. No you still lost the plot here, If yo u have a 9" tyre with a 5cm high sidewall, and 2.2 inches width and a 26" tyre with a 5cm sidewall and 2.2. inches width and a 29" tyre with a 5cm sidwewall and 2.2 inches widht all running at 2 bar they will all do exactly the same thing. The surface diameter you describe will assist in grip acceleration and breaking and thats it mate.
  3. If the tyre is the same width and height with the same sidwall construction yes it will work, The total diameter is irrelevant in this equation as it will take more air to get a 29'er tyre to 2.0 bar, but the resistance of 2 bar is guess what 2 bar. So yes its still irrelevant.
  4. Well yeah you are totally missing the point about what the function and advantages of thruaxle over QR is. So please rather dont comment till you do a little more homework. Really. Not trying to be mean here, but your totally off base here. If you have tyre flex you dont like pump your tyres to the damn correct pressures.
  5. The answer to your question is yes, since it will have the same sidewall consturction, with the same amount of PSI to leverage the weight there will be no difference whatsover, there will be a difference on the amount of rubber contact on the ground though.
  6. See now there sense be spoken lol.
  7. well yeah thats admittance to sutpidty right there mate, thats rubber flex and has nothing to do with your wheelset you hubs or your rims. I suggest you go do some more research and then we can continue this debate, I really cant deal with this type of idiocracy when I am sober.
  8. 29'er and 26 tyres are constructed in exactly the same way, in other words if you can run a 26" @ 1.8 bar without it folding in on itself, you will use the exact same tyre pressures on the same type of tyre on a 29'er. The advantage of the 29'er comes with having a bit more rubber on the ground and the bigger wheel diameter makes it easier to clear obstacles that will catch out a 26" wheel. like rocks and ruts.
  9. Theres a very valid reason why DH and AM rigs have incorportated for thruaxle for years, And I for one is glad they are bringing it into the XC/Trail world, as not all of us sit on dirt roads all the time.
  10. Dont know what bike you have mate but i would go return it. Thru axle on rough trails makes the world of differnce, gives pinpoint acuracy, where you point it it goes. And i am confused what does tyre pressure have to do with axle play?
  11. They look a lot better, and yeah the feel is better, but i guess thats all relative, ive run x5 shifters with x9 derailures and been perfectly happy with that.
  12. Also wondering if all DH and AM peeps are going to realize this truth and move over to quick release since they have seen no benefit out of having a rigid wheelset and fork? fact the design on mtb's concentrate on rigidty first then weight, hence carbon being introduced into the mix, or is carbon not rigid and just light weight, please do tell.
  13. Highly entertaining to say the least, Im sure you can backup these statements with your miriad of engineering degrees and real life tests as well as mathematical evidence? How much is the bet you have never tried a thru axle or a 29'er for that matter..... BTW 29'ers have absolutly nothing to do with lower tyre pressures as tire pressures are dictated by your weight and not the diameter of your wheel. sheeeez........ No more words.

  17. welcome to the darkside mate.
  18. Yeah the minute it becoems avail im getting them
  19. do it youll luv it, and no once you get used to them.
  20. but spend the R100 bucks extra and get gripshifts
  21. better.
  22. If i look at this i am wondering how big the event will be this year, how the seeding is going to work, how the starting intervals are going to work since you now droped the duo but incorportated the corporate league into the mix. Posted 20 June 2011 - 12:14 The Start and registration: Too little parking for too many cars, causing havoc later on with riders parking on areas that was designated no parking zones. If you decide to make the late entry price R145, ensure that the attendants at registration have bags full of R5 coins or round the price up to the nearest R10. If 100 of us said keep the R5, the registration staff would have pocketed R500. I would rather have the extra R5 go to a worthy cause Start shute was way too small to accommodate all of us. Seeded start was a joke. Having us start less than 2 minutes apart did nothing to ease congestion. If Sani2C can start 1300 riders a day in batches of 100 with 10 minute intervals, PPA can do the same for 300 odd riders The Route: Great route with the typical Western Cape profile of short steep climbs wiht off camber turns and quite a few 90Deg turns. At 4 or 5 places you were able to see riders looping back past you, creating an opportunity for some to take short cuts. These points needs to be marshalled better to ensure that riders complete the course. The single track should ride very well in dryer conditions Water point 1 had water and energy drinks and the lbs staff drinking beer and making a lot of noise. It was good to see them out and about, but who drinks beer at 10am in the morning (bar single speeders). Water point 2 was stocked with fruit as well, but the water point volunteers were more concerned to get the maximum out of the speakers they brought along than assisting the riders and ensuring that people didn't clutter up the water table with bikes all over the place. The mud was making conditions tougher than what the profile suggests The Finish: It seemed like the orginisers and time keepers were very set on getting everyone to leave ASAP.
  23. The_wes not sure what took so long with your registration its one of the quickest registrations available,, did me and my girl in under 3 minutes. However i do hope they addressed last years problems. What does irk me is that i put all my MTB money in a visa enabled debit card, instead of credit cards, and none of the damn entry sites support that, they want you to use a credit card.
  24. I first wanted the AM classics but the factory wheels you can only convert to 15mm thru axle, if i want 20mm then I have to buy another AM classic 20mm hub and have the front wheel rebuilt. Too much effort and works out kind of pricy. So im opting for a custom build ZTR crest rims, woodman spokes, hope hubs. to accomodate 142/12 rear and 20mm front.
  25. AM classics are known to be soft, i.e not the greatest for heavier riders. But thats probably more opinion than anything else, my problem is the 20mm upgront, need to have a wheel rebuild with a 20mm AM specific hub, which made the AM wheelset much more expensive than ZTR crest hope hubs and woodman spokes. Hence im skipping the AM classics and going with a custom build.
