  2. But true, look at what they did with Kimi and the cars they had didnt suit Kimmi at all back then, now the Iceman is kicking ferrari's ass in a 2 year old underfunded lotus... Now theres some payback for you.
  3. Tygerberg MTB club has a slowcoach ride on Sunday's, also lookup "the social group" on FB riders of all abilities on there. They organising a slow ride in jonkers for Sunday as well.

  5. I especially like the 50 inches of steerer tube.
  6. That and either its a crappy pic but the geometrhy on that just looks off. The OP can let me know how the asian rip off works in due time.

    Dear Mods

    Nice bottle cage
  8. The weld between the seatpost downtube and the toptube. i.e. where the toptube thins out. As far as i know Trance does not have the issue.
  9. word of warning im a large in every single brand i have tried, the vermarc L is about 2 sizes to small, they make them midget sized Need a 2xl i guess if you have a 36 waste, since they are "a racing fit" apparently, I always assumed races like bloodflow in their legs. http://www.vermarcusa.com/sizing.htm
  10. hell i just hope these bibs fit, just read buycycles returns policy and it reads like a horror story, if they dont fit I can send it back sure enough, just small matter of paying the shipping fees with insurance R150 The a "nominal" 10% charge for returning R110 And then paying to have it shipped back to me R150 R410 bucks just to return something if it doesnt fit. And they dont supply sizing info on most of the items. Thats torrid I am sorry to say. I could understand the charges if the sizing info is displayed and you still choose the wrong size. Well if it doesnt fit it will be posted on the hub very soon
  11. I think it has more to do with using detergent, and not putting the damn thing in its bag, which is a mission. And since a chamois is a breeding place for backteria i sure as hell aint going to wash it in just plain water, and i am also not buying the super expensive Assos approved detergent.
  12. Im generally an assos guy, swear by them, tried all the local flavours without reaching joy. However Assos if you dont wash them in their baggy, seperate from anything else that doesnt come with a 3k pricetag, and no detergint, they dont last, Mine tore for no reason after about a years worth of riding, So my girl dillegently stitched that up for me, Last weekend at houwhoek, i pull on my wounded assos pants to get ready for day two, and crucnh another tear, basically the material has just become totally brittle. But i knew that was going to happen. So I am not complaining. Now thought i need some new training bibs, decided to give Vermarc a try, bought a pair at Buycyle, and will give the bibs a bash tomorrow to see what they are like. Chamois looks soft and good quality and not too thick, odd elastics around the leg grips, but the material looks quite robust.

  14. all the details at home will post tomorrow
  15. True bit it does affect wheelstrength along with the factors you mentioned and many other factors like flanges, hub design, etc. 2mm might not be the best example lets just compare the weight of double butted 2.0/1.7 vs 2.0/1.5 you gain major strength using the 1.7 if you discount the other factors involved but you pay a weight penalty.
  16. If your a pro outfit and you get shot at by a bunch of poachers in plakkies, you aint doing your job. And you should go back to basic training. Any decent outfit could wound at least 2 chaps and take out the rest without getting involved in a firefight.
  17. Key being PREVIOUS as the chaps mentioned in my earlier posts. And these guys are basically confined to private funding and working on private land. The uselless guvment once again arent doing anything and they have all the resources at their disposal to kill this off quick. And the key here is wounding these poachers and then gathering intellegence out of them. Not offing one or two of the hundreds and then throwing it at the media to act like they are actually doing something about it.
  18. going two routes with two diff companies, eveyrthing is supplied excpet you pay for your booze, Trip 1 is three days around chamonix mont blank, so you basically start off in swtizerland, (pickup from airport in geneva included) and then its a chilled 3 days of riding about 50km each day with around 1000-1500m of climbing depending on the day. Day 2 you hit france, day three through italy, and back to switzerland, The other 5 days is basically a tour exploring bike parks in the alps, one day at 5 diff parks.
  19. ' Its cheaper than doing a flippen SA bike holiday, flight costs aside and those you can pickup cheap cheap if you book well in advance. Everything is supplied so dont need much extra cash unless you want to stay a couple of extra days, but Switzerland and France is not that entertaining "off the bike" I am going next year. 8 days 3 countries
  20. No dealer locations in CPT, So your probably going to struggle your ass off trying to get spares or warrantee replacements. I like the fact that it comes standard with all the conversion kits though.
  21. These are the evo versions, not the snakeskins, evo's are known for really crappy sidewalls. That said i bought one for the houwhoek challenge last weekend, and they held up pretty much ok. I wouldnt bank on it being a rock solid tyre though.
  22. Just wondering why the 29 arch ex whites are 480g and the black is 450
  23. You have a couple of issues here, 99% of these initiatives send money to the guvment owned conservation sites, (not like the guvment doesnt already have enough money) where the funds are not being utlized as in many cases parksboard officials have been linked to or are already suspected of being linked to poaching syndicates. So all thats happening is we are giving the ringleaders of the poaching rings even more money to squander on the latest luxury SUV's. Poaching could be stopped by simply deploying 4 or 5 specialist army units to go play hunt the poacher, the bats and the reccie's could sort this out in a week, at no charge to the tax payer since they are already being paid to sit around and do nothing these days. I'm pretty sure if you ask these boys if they would like some hunting practice they would jump at the opportunity.
  24. Remember weight generally also has a direct relation to strength, had another mate of mine come off a set of ZTR crests going down jeeptrack, wheel just totally mangled. And note the weight limits for the rims, eg. ZTR crest has a limit of 190lbs or about 86kg. You can strengthen them a bit using the thickest heaviest spokes you can find, but it wont increase the tollerances by much. Was going to build up a set of ZTR crests but since Ive seen to many of them fail, ill rather go with a set of arch's. Not that much of a weight penalty for a stiffer more reliable wheel.
  25. And explosive stuff from williams.
