  1. If JJ Cycling sell chinese carbon, then I guess so...
  2. It's the failure during the race that I want to avoid, especially if I am wanting to up my game for the coming season.
  3. I have heard from a local dude that he personally knows of guys having issues with deraileurs not changing and stuffing up their race (in which they could have won) - not that I plan to win, but you never know... Two of my cycle buddies have Di2 and love it, but not long enough for any issues to arise. I have read a lot on the topic and issues with the 10spd model, but I am also sceptical of electronic failure.
  4. OltreXR2... As I said to someone this morning - heart says Di2, Head says Force22, body says just go ride your damn bike...
  5. I am in a unique position in having the difficult task of choosing between the three*... Di2 is awesome when it works, but if it doesn't, you're stuffed. Perfect shifts day in, day out. It does also have a weight disadvantage. Practically maintenance free apart from charging the battery and lubing the chain. Force22 is light in comparison but settling in will occur and adjustment will be required. Cables and housings will need to be changed every so often. Edit: Athena EPS has emerged as an option now too. Middle ground between the two groupo's and is Electronic... And more importantly, it's Campy.
  6. Hey, a free wheel to suck in MTB is always great

    Ignore

Rydogg, how can you ignore a thread that has 'ignore' as the subject... obviously people aren't going to ignore, and even less so on thehubsa...
  11. There is sunshine every now and then in Franschhoek, and generally the weather is a little delayed compared to Wellington. Will update when I get home this afternoon...

  13. Just a mention of great service to Dennis at Sportsworld.co.za Great service, brilliant gear and superb customer satisfaction (not to mention the vast range of gear). If you're ever looking for something cycling related, check out their website and I doubt you'll be disappointed.

The lack of feedback is a pain in the arse though...
  15. It is a semi-integrated headset - the 'cup' is part of the frame. Gotta love alu frames eh :/
  16. Thanks for the feedback guys - I have contacted the bike shop and they may have an alternative for me I was looking at having the cup that it came with machined to 6mm and then using it as it is - would have been my backyard mechanic make-do.
  17. It did come with a cup, but has a 'built in cup' in the frame, so the cup wasn't necessary - but now the depth is not the same.
  18. I am busy with a road bike build for a friend and finally found a headset that fits the bike... but it stands about 6mm higher than the top of the head tube. The recess for the bearing is not deep enough for the setup to drop further so now has this gap. Any suggestions? I am considering having the casing, in which it came, cut to 6mm to create a spacer to take up the difference.
  19. Thanks for the input guys Definitely satisfied in spending more time looking towards Momsen bikes
  20. Hi Guys, I am in the market for a Momsen AL329 or AL429, but I have heard from a well respected LBS, that of late, there have been issues with the frames... has anyone here experienced this? Please let me know, thanks
  21. So 'Dale's Canondale Hi-Mod Super6 may actually become UCI legal?!
  22. Allen Lim rice cakes - google and you'll find them. I make his sweet one with roasted pecans, dried figs and honey. Of late I have been making 1/2 batches and dividing the end result into 3 - then throwing it in the blender and adding water to make it softer. Seal it in a bag and you have your own 'gel' sachet. Really good stuff!
  23. 1. It's not that important to have a coach but it does keep you in check if you do - you are then responsible to report back to them with your ride data. That being said, if you have a group of mates you ride with, who are stronger than you, it should up your training efforts and make you stronger. 2. There is a coach - Pelotrain I think - who a few hubbers use. PM MTBRoadie and he can put you in contact. btw I don't have a coach but have a great group of mates who do weekend rides together - and push each other hard at times! p.s. Done a sub3 Argus - it's just another milestone. Enjoy the rides and the time will come.
