  1. why?......... I dunno why you are posting here. you still got sour grapes?
  2. re Race times - I dunno. But I WILL concur the weather It's all about the power of the collective
  3. We're in the same boat.......
  4. cool! Ah F*#K! What is $? Elites? I was hoping for A at a push.....
  5. You planning on doing it Borat style? Less wind drag over the kit with the minimal amount of kit on as possible.
  6. Fair enough - I don't ride the S/Suburb races because of the cost involved just to get to the venue, let alone the entry fee. 200km there and back, getting up early (forking early), and still spending on pre- post and during race feeding. So I rather ride the races out my side of the world. So for me to travel 40Km to the venue and spend R190 on a race works for me. I don't ride league, so I planned to ride, TdPPA, Bouckeart, 99'er, Medallion and Wilde. Edit: as it is your 'free' weekend, go for it and rest, but by having sour grapes about a race's LATE entry fee that you weren't going to do is not fair either.
  7. Got nothing to do with PPA - it's organised by the Cycle Tour organisation - Argus seeding race so no affiliation to PPA.
  8. Those race prices are if you did the early entry if I am not mistaken...... R100 for late PPA entry for yesterday's race. That's a R30 fee for late entry. Race pack collection and late entries will take place at the following venues: REEDS Cape Town: Wednesday, 8 February 2012, 16:00 - 19:00 Corner of Oswald Pirow and Jack Craig Street, Cape Town Phone: (021) 443 5100 REEDS N1 City: Thursday, 9 February 2012, 16:00 - 19:00 Corner of Giel Basson and Nathan Mallach Rd, N1 City, Goodwood Phone: (021) 596 2600 REEDS Tygervalley: Friday, 10 February 2012, 16:00 - 19:00 Durban Road, Tygervalley Phone: (021) 910 7660 Durbanville Race Course: Saturday 11 February 2012, from 05:30 - 07:30am
  9. DO IT DD!!!
  10. Yeah, I agree there - an extra 90 ZAR is a bit steep but it may have a roll on effect as mentioned earlier. - I know for a fact that they have to provide one medic per (quantity) of cyclists. So if you enter late, they have to round up more medics that may not have been available for the race and the organisers have to pay a 'late' fee for them to be there. - More cyclists = more water. Read the thread about lack of water in yesterday's race thread.
  11. but you ride the cobra that is R120 for only 83Km....... the 99'er works out to R178 for the 123Km using the price per Km of the Cobra - and it's not an Argus seeding race. If you rode the Cobra as a league rider it would have cost you R267.81 for the distance of the 99'er taking a per Km comparison. (120 entry plus 60.72 admin fee) The reason I didn't ride the cobra.
  12. I would have ridden this race with Geno, but he is off to the land of 'snail eaters'. So now riding solo to test the 'ol body.
  13. It's an Argus qualifier. It's a good test of endurance and legs It still has some lucky draw prizes - just not a car. (btw I don't ride to win a car - it's just a bonus)
  14. I am doing the race - if you find the entry fee ridiculous, don't enter Freedom of choice. What was Die Burger's entry fee? It was quite high as far as I can remember - and you only got 92Km's to ride. Now you get 123Km's to ride. The numbers would have already been printed so the late entry fee is to cover the expense of arranging extra emergency staff (as it is calculated per capita cyclists), more drinks, extra numbers that is not part of the bulk order, etc. This also encourages people to do the early entry - if you were asleep, shame on you for not entering already.
  15. This miffs me off and hearing that PPA does nothing about it makes our complaining seem like farting in thunder! PPA needs to take action to set an example for other riders, otherwise, I might as well throw my GU sachet and energy bar wrapper onto the tarmac because it seems that it is the easiest manner of disposing of it (but I will never do it - it harms the environment which is not cool). Come on PPA - the ball is in your court.
  16. Quite a violent oke hey? LOL
  17. I wouldn't have a clue who it is but he is 50 years old...... that is all I can gather. Also agree with Wayne, WTF does it have to do with the sport / hobby he has? Call him for the person he is, not the sport he does or did for that matter.
  18. I know Wannabe said the other day that he got 6 or 8 (can't remember which) on a training ride..... that is hectic!

  22. Happened to MTB_Roadie too! At the top of ou kaaps. He was leading and broke away - only got 4th at the finish. Rising stars group. I don't have such a larney one - I got myself the deda dog fang one - cyclelab sells it for something like 30 bucks.
  23. Crank - more accurate measurement. It's like when you do torque measurements on a motorcycle - you will get a higher reading at the drive shaft that what you would get on the wheel. Edit: typo

    99'er 2012

As far as I can see, it's a 50Km ride this year, and yes, it goes over vissers - out on adderley, right on philadelphia and then follows the rest of the route as per the long route.
  25. Not cool man! Glad you are OK........btw I don't think silly season ever left......
