Hey guys, does anyone know the cyclist that was knocked down this afternoon? It was on the R44 at the Koel Kamers intersection (there where the turn is for the One Tonner and a few other races in the far north - that lovely long climb road). My father in law went past at 4:20pm and saw the cyclist (bicycle as evidence) lying there with a cop car stopped for assistance. He spotted the cyclist had kit on that looks like the Metropolitan kit - blue and white. I went past there around 5:20pm - a few more cop cars and a person covered with a blanket - only found out when I got home that it was a cyclist. Sad part is that, for more than an hour, that person was lying there with no ambulance! Heal up soon dude / dudette!

By when do you need to know? Might have a thing or two that I want.

Boet, it's rollers all the way except from the Silo's to fruitsellers 4 way and between Perdeberg Winery and the Silo's again. You hit the start of Vissershok at the 112Km mark. Vissershok = 171m ascent over 3Km from 4 way stop. Hawekwa is 80m ascent over 1.2Km......... Vissershok itself is as steep as Hawekwa but twice as long. Odendal (the 1km climb to the finish) is probably as steep too.... 79m ascent over 1.13Km = another Hawekwa.

What is ok-ish? I did a 2:57 from E for last year's Argus and rode a 2:25 Burger (92Km) Dec last year. As far as I know, the seeding weighs a lot on the previous year's Argus but gets affected by the Qualifying races too. Remember, the Herald will get a difficulty index based on how it compares to the Argus. I haven't done the Herald so don't know what the amount of climbing involved rates to...... This year I am seeded in A

The thing is that these guys do this day in, day out. They learn to land and absorb the forces with the movement of their bodies....... yes, the bikes and wheels are strong BUT there is a lot more to it than just the bikes and wheels. Great skill these guys have!

at 36Km/h - 23 laps of 1.7Km..... probably more as they ride at higher speeds....... 40Km/h is 25 laps (I added the 'plus one lap' for these numbers)
