  1. And neither would the custodians of style. They'll prolly sell these with a Camelbak and checkered boxer shorts
  2. What Hummer????? 'fess up: You know its on the xmas list!
  3. Does he drive a silver Audi...? Kidding, not me! Had a hooter-happy guy behind me this morning. I did nothing to offend him (apart from being on the road, oh the sinner that I am!).
  4. No picture can do justice to the diamond-drawn tubes and the incredible work on the cromed lugs. What saddle do you have there? Somehow I think it should be a Turbomatic 2 to make this the perfect era bike (circa '95, right?)
  5. Don't tempt me...I'm waiting for Scratch to come in so we can talk business: There might just be a '05 928SL frameset in the market real soon.
  6. Scotty, this one's better. The other one lasted only 2 pages (and 6 kernels). I was ignored by my armed response company last night at 01:00. Got laid after the near-death experience. I can't make up my mind: Should I complain about the bad customer service or send them a thank you note?
  7. The old man would never consider spinning. Not for real cyclists, he says... Good to have you back, BigH!
  8. Windblown, you're a lucky man. Hope the size works out for you...
  9. Look at Specialized: Well priced, light and ultra stiff.
  10. Glad you had a ride! Remember to post the pics on the members page... Cheers EB
  11. You do? So, about that knocking sound, like, do you get it?
  12. Nice solid wheelset. Supposedly light(ish). Some models are known to make knocking sound (see my other post). Lot's of questions you have, young padowan. Google for answers, you must.
  13. TomTrek, that is an awesome bike!! I'm thinking I should get myself a classic Bianchi with Campy Delta or Cobalto...Or just buy Racman's Colnago...
  14. Right, so a new set of wheels it is then! All the ammo I needed to convince Ms. EB!
  15. Is there anyone who has used Steven Henn before? Comments on his work?
  16. I desparately need help: My rear Ksyrium SL (silver model) makes a knocking sound when pedalling. The sound is syncronised with pedal revolutions and sometimes goes away when freewheeling momentarily. It is definitely not: 1) A loose cassette 2) BB 3) Crank (items checked/replaced recently with no effect) Anyone with a similar issue and/or any other ideas (apart from getting new set of wheels)? Tx EB
  17. [EB rereads post, blushes] Ok, so with a Carbon/Alu frame, the interface points btwn the different material types would be subject to different rates of contraction, possibly causing weak points. How "hot" 55degs is is another question altogether, since paint is cured at 60-80 degs (I think).
  18. My civil duty in this matter is to provide JB with some cannon fodder in the meantime... My sense is that there will be no adverse effects, since 1) The curing of the material involves heat/pressure during initial manufacture and again during the painting process (definitely at temps higher than 55degs!) 2) Being non-metallic, the material should also be less prone to expansion/contraction as a result of heat fluctuations meaning the glued joints (do they even do that nowadays?) should remain intact Exposure to UV could cause fade, but I doubt the impact of time in the car is greater than doing a 4 hr ride in full sun. A completely uneducated, but hopefully logical, opinion. PS: I hope you treated her to a decent wash after neglecting her so badly...
  19. Drooool!! One style comment: Change the Cosmic decals to white (or get Boras)
  20. To both questions: Depends on what you buy. Campy record retails in the region of R5500, but you can get FSA for way less than that. Prolly work the same, weight the same (or FSA might be less...), etc but we could have long and meaningful debates about the price of style and good looks (or perceived good looks). If you're using the old tapered bb design cranks, there will be a massive diff upgrading to carbon: weight, stiffness and resultant improvement in power transfer is huge. Someone who has replaced a newer design crankset (Shim DA?) with carbons would be in a better position to comment on the diff in such a case? What are you upgrading from?
