  1. Nicely handled guys. EPOH, thanks for your report, pics and comments Jacques I think I speak for the wider cycling community when I say: Thanks for the effort put into the event, especially in light of a critique-prone crowd. I for one will make the effort to ride next year (if you do decide to host another road event)
  2. You drive a hard bargain, Mampara...
  3. Wow, only caught onto this now: THANKS SHAUNH, CRUX & DAD! And everyone else that sponsored a sign last month!! Please keep on supporting this initiative
  4. You mean I've won a pair UBER BLING SHOES? Or is it the jersey? You have to tell!!!
  5. Happy happy Blingtani!! Hope you have a great day (tomorrow?)!
  6. Kloden 1st, Schleck 2nd or 3rd (if he starts). Vino will be in the mix, but I agree that he lacks, er race craft, and he will suffer due to the above (wasn't aware of this, thanks HR)
  7. Not that I want to dodge the responsibility, but I wiped the gate sensor with my car this morning. R4k later...Aint't life a f^&$ b%$^%&&. Wolv, thanks for kickstarting this again, tho...
  8. Hice bike! The seat stays seem rather, er, thin - like the Cervelo R3's. How's the ride comfort?
  9. I thought they stopped making lugs like those...a beaut, thanks for posting! What does it weigh?
  10. Since I started the thread, maybe I should report back on my experience: Bought a set of LG's (Airmax, I think) which looks ultra stylish and is ok at keeping the digits warm. If the outside temp is warm to begin with. Anything less than 5degs and I have to resort to wearing these under my Nalini winter gloves. I guess the answer is that some people just cannot warm up: I caught Wolverine on a ride going through the coldest place in PTA having taken his gloves off because its too warm...And I'm trying to find warm places on my body to warm by hands with. Unfair? Maybe, but it works out ok for the retailers.
  11. HR, you're killing me: I'm splitting
  12. O, wrong forum, sorry HR.
  13. Die nefie van 'n fisant, raas met meer en sy vleis is effens sagter(alhoewel Jamie hier mag verskil). Gaan goed saam met roosmaryn en vodka.
  14. Do you have to buy the Shimano oven, or can you use your existing one?
  15. Hence it's exclusion! I have it on good authority that you can pick up 750mls of Tavolo di Vino Rosso for about 2 euro. Sounds better than Tassies, doesn't it?
  16. Sorry to hijack your thread GrantC, but it seems like there's some interest in something like this...Who'll be keen on doing something like this (I'd say about 150-200kms a day)? What's the most cost effective way of doing it (hire a vito, get a trailer and camp/guesthouse at every rest?) I was at one time toying at an informal trip to Italy with road bikes. Something like 10 days camping on Como and surrounds would come to about R11k pp (including flights and all other costs except beer/wine/cigars)
  17. Neels Holgerson (or something), circa '85
  18. Wolwedans in die skemer (anyone?) McGuiver (!!!) Thundercats He-man Gummy bears
  19. Looks nice & certainly not BBB-esque. Is it pointing slightly upwards or is that the camera angle? I've recently dropped the front of my saddle (to horizontal) and am still adapting to the position...
  20. I don't think the point is Expo = Bad. I think it is that Probike perceives it as not being effective for them. The expo is also not only about lauching new products, but creating awareness of existing products, potentially at competitive prices. For me the vibe of the race starts with a decent expo. Especially if that includes dances by Virgin Active girls...
  21. Mostly what they said. However, from my experience: - I have never gotten more than 5500kms out of a 10s chain, even with regular maintenance - I have wasted both a chain and cassette in 10000kms trying the lube-often/clean-often strategy Let's do the math: 1 x Chain = R500 (Campag 10s), lifespan 5000kms 1 x Cassette = R2500 (Campag Record 10s) Note: Ignoring possible wear on chainrings with excessive mileage, scenario will look different for cheaper components Strat 1: Replace chain every 5000kms, replace both at 20,000kms 4 chains (R2000) 1 Cassette (R2500) Total Cost: R4500 Strat 2: Replace chain/cassette every 10000kms Mileage: 2 Chains (R1000) 2 Cassettes (R5000) Total Cost: R6000 I'd go for strategy 1, especially given the risk of stuffing up the chainrings (slim, I know, but expensive to replace).
  22. (sic) Or you haven't found the right wife yet. As for the new Raleighs, now there's a different story
  23. *EB raises eyebrow suspiciously*
  24. Allow me to provide some qualification to our esteemed Cervelo's rules:
