  1. The Silverback Stride has a max rating of 120KG with the bike. I would not go with Silverback. On these stride bikes the rims and hubs are problematic. I haven't heard a lot had good things from the service of Silverback in the last 2/3 years. Merida has a max rider weight of 135KG. Not sure if that includes the bike or not. So between the two you mentioned I would choose the merida. Their service is good and the build quality is decent for the price. I would have to do some research on what other bikes has a weight rating in your range.
  2. How is the rearhub holding up? Normally that's the first one to go. I'd suggest buy a set of hubs (front and rear). I had the same problem with my wheels. I gave up with the cup and cone system and purchased a new set of hubs (with sealed bearings which you can easily find at any bikeshop) and built over my wheel on the new hubs. It is only a matter of time before the rear cups wear or balls wear out. Don't think you got the short end ,because you purchased a entry level bike. By the way, Titan puts cup and cone hubs on same of their mid range bikes upwards of R30 000 as well. Sealed bearings hubs are not cheap. Like @Super Sywurm mentioned. Rapidé probably has the best value for money hubs. The labour for building the wheel over is about R300-R400 per wheel. You might need to get new spokes because of the flange size being different. Spokes are about R20 each. Sometimes it's worth replacing the nipples too when rebuilding wheels. If you want go the route of just buying a new wheelset instead of rebuilding your excisting set, you are looking at a minimum of around R6000 for a wheelset
  3. The only new "budget" options I can think of is Novatec and Rapidé I am not a big fan of novatec so would rather go with the Rapidé brand.
  4. About a year ago we had a client successfully claim a sram xx1 12 spd cassette, due to one tooth being bent.
  5. Links?
  6. Do NOT ride through the Suburb Hawston , stay on the highway. You can turn at fisherhaven and do a small loop there. Fisherhaven is just above hawston on the map. I would reccomend that you follow the red line I drew on the map. I am not familiar with that section at the top, rather just stay on the gravel road. You can also do the loop clockwise or anti clockwise. There is still roadworks on the Hemel en Aarde Road, some sections are quite narrow, so I would just stop and wait for the direction to change and follow the traffic.
  7. Between these two I would go for the Giant, BUT both bikes has SRAM SX which you should avoid. The Fork on both is also very entry level. I would rather spend a few rand more or look at other options with Shimano deore 12 spd at the same price Giant Trance 29 2 seems like very good value https://giant-bicycles.co.za/products/trance-29-2-metallic-black-black?available%20colours=metallic%20black%20%2F%20black&available%20sizes=s I haven't ridden the New Merida one twenty, but it does look nice. 130mm front 120mm rear. The 600 model retails for R45 000 and you get shimano 12 spd groupset and much better suspension. https://bike-addict.co.za/products/merida-one-twenty-600-2024
  8. What do scott classify as "maintenance " minor service? Major? And is this maintenance once per year?
  9. I have just received a sold item alert from a cycling shirt on bikehub. Pictures of the shirt was just a screenshot from the Temu app and the price was twice the amount Temu sells it for. I can understand if you want to sell the shirt because it's either to big or small but to double the price on the item, ai

  15. It's just a shortcut to the website. No app available as far I know.
  16. These bikes in Aluminum looks awful. Scott did not do a good job at all with those welds on the frame.
  17. My intention was not to be aggressive, I apologize if it came out that way. Just curious about the situation.
  18. Okay. Your new 2024 bikes(cerberus, skyrim and dc cypher)were being sold in Russia middle to end of 2023 already. These same bikes were only launched locally a month or two ago?
  19. Is Titan Racing a local brand?
  20. Avoid sram NX and SX derailleurs. They work fine for a few months, but then develop play on the mounting bolt of the derailleur and you will have shifting problems.
  21. https://youtu.be/Gz5n2iuUrSs Has anyone tried this method before?
  22. Any bikeshop who deals with Omnico can order one for you
  23. Have a look at the Red-E Aura air conducting wireless earphones. Similar looking to the Shockz. Price is around R600/R700. Only got mine a few weeks ago, but so far so good.
