  1. We are looking for a driver for our camper van for Epic. The person ideally should be either able to massage or service our bikes. All costs will be covered as well as something extra (especially if you can fulfill either one of these functions). Obviously accomodation in the camper van is included. Will suit a university student looking for extra work.
  2. Yep, I've had the same problem. Put 2 x Race Face BB's in. They didn't even last 1 month, then replaced it with an XTR BB and no problems after that.
  3. Anyone want to buy my medium Giant Anthem 0 for R 21k? XTR Crank, FoxRP23 rear shock, X0, Avid Juicy 7's, Mavic SL Rims, tubeless tyres? I want to buy the Giant Anthem Advanced.
  4. Anyone want to do this ride again on Sunday?
  5. Yep, although according to my H/R average it was close to race pace. The climbing was 1745m. I forgot to start my Polar on one flat section for about 5km.
  6. I FLY and I rode this route on Sunday. We met up at the Sasol and rode out to the Bird Store (32km) where we met up with some of his mates (and their very bling bikes). We rode up and down Breedtsnek to the store and had a coke (and some nice chocolate brownies). Then we tackled the 4.5km "hill" back to the top of Breedtsnek passing a lot of very unfit cyclists (purporting to be doing either Sani2C or Epic) on the way up. Stopped at the Excel garage, after an extremely fast (I FLY almost killed me) flat section at the bottom of the big "hill", for another coke (93km). We then rode to the top of Hekpoort and back to the Sasol garage for a total of 125km in 6h30 and a riding average of 21km/hr. Don't even ask what my average H/R was! Thanks I FLY for a great ride. mrmed2008-01-14 03:09:03
  7. We're going to skip the Buffelspoort dam loop. This will make that loop 61km (on my Polar). So if it's 32km to the garage that will give us 125km. Anybody biting?
  8. We're going to do the ride on Sunday. Leaving at 6am and I think it will take around 7-8 hours depending on how long we stop for lunch.
  9. Ok, let's keep the thread active and choose a day and start time on Thursday.
  10. I'm wondering if anyone wants to join us next Saturday or Sunday for a LSD training ride? I was thinking of starting at the Sasol Garage at the bottom of Krugerdorp Hill and riding down Hekpoort to Breedtsnek, up and down the hill to the dam and then up and down, up Hekpoort and back to the Sasol garage. Should be around 120km and 2000m + of climbing.
  11. I left my prce list at work. I'll pm the prices to you on the 8th.
  12. Yes. Which model do you want?
  13. I can't wait for the MTB tubeless system to come out!
  14. Were they the magnesium rims?
  15. Boeing, contact me via pm. Which ones do you want?
  16. Did you guys know these rims (not the hubs) are manufactured in East London? They are really super guys and the wheels are great quality, but they really are "racing wheels" and not really suitable for everyday use. They also import carbon wheelsets, both for clinchers and tubbies.
  17. My Gaint Anthem 0 (medium) weighs 12.3kg with the tyres full of Stans.
  18. Eish, after this morning the mud on my DS weighed 10kg!
  19. I know FlatDog wanted one for his girlfriend who had been dropped by her partner. (good cause)
  20. Back to the original question- Were the punctures snake bite or thorn type punctures? If they were snake bites there are two choices, pump your tyres up to 4 bar (and loose traction and control) or change to tubeless. If they were thron type punctures, put slime in your tubes and put tyre liners in. When I ride down rocky downhills I take my time and try to pick a good line. I can't tell you how many people go down fast but are repairing punctures at the bottom of the hill. MTB'ing is about conserving the bike as well as the engine.
  21. The only difference between discs and v's, is that discs are easier on your hands and a little better in the wet, but the maintainance on v's is much less. I've got discs because I'm a sissy.
  22. Kinky - I've got a JoeBlow And it pomps quite nicely, thank you very much.
  23. Westdene is my LBS and I must say I always get a good deal without having to ask. At the end of the day if the guys know you they will take the time to come and chat. But you're right the youngsters don't take much interest. I always deal with Stuart or Faried.
  24. I climbed 60m over 600m 12 times this morning and I'm stuffed. I hate Jaco! You guys are machines!
