  1. Yay, rad006 needs Guinness (100 cases), Woolies vouchers and I know he likes to eat out at Villamoura. This is the best sponsorship ever! Pfft and I thought I had a nice Epic sponsor!
  2. My wife will ride the second part of the ride with us (Milpark to Midrand) and she loves her granny gear!
  3. We're going to start in Midrand, near New Road, ride to Milpark (along the spuit) and then back to Midrand. (around 85km). Will start around 7.30am.
  4. I've been hearing about this wonderful Suikerbosrand ride. I have a few questions: 1. Is it a road or MTB ride 2. How far? 3. Where does it start / end and how do you get there? (I know, a male asking for directions!) Is anybody else planning to ride MTB this weekend? We want to do 4 rides of around 80km. (Th, Fri, Sat, Sun)
  5. This is really sad. My condolences to family and friends.
  6. Yep, that was a fantastic race. I used it as a training ride and it had everything (steep climbs, technical downhills and lots of single track). Pity it was a little bit shorter than advertised (62.5km vs 70km) I'll be back next year.
  7. This is amazing. I've never heard such nonsense. I've been trying to get into the Sani2C for 3 years and have never said it's over-rated, when I've been number 100 on the waiting list. If it was over-rated it wouldn't be over subscribed 1 - 10 (this years Cape Epic lottery figures). As for pricey, go get a life, R13 500-00 for 9 days, is a similar price (and cheaper) than a lot of other multi-stage MTB races. This is clearly a case of sour grapes. At least one good thing, seen as how most people think it's over-rated they won't try to get in for 2009 which will leave the door open for me.
  8. This looks like a good way to spend Saturday morning: http://www.militarycycling.co.za/mtbrace.htm#opsmap
  9. I love my new Giant Anthem 0 although it is taking me a little while to get used to. I'm stiff after long rides and my fingers are taking stain from the rapid fire shifters! (No comments from the peanut gallery please) I think the real question lies in what type of races you are going to do. If you're doing short (under 60km) XC racing buy a superlight hardtail but if you want to do marathon and stage race events then a dualie is the answer.
  10. Mullet, I'll do the Sani2C on my Anthem, if you've got an entry for me, nudge, nudge, wink, wink, know what I mean?
  11. We're now the proud owners of 2 Giant Anthem 0's. And they fly!
  12. Thanks for all the feed back. I think we're goint to end up paying around R 27 500 - 00 including tubeless.
  13. I have a Merida hardtail already, but I wasn't impressed by the Merida dualie.
  14. My riding partner and I are thinking about buying Giant Anthem 0's with a tubeless upgrade. We are reasonable riders and are hoping to get a 2008 Cape Epic entry. We were wondering if anyone has had any bad experiences with these bikes? Also we were thinking of upgrading (????) from the SRAM X.0 shifters and de-raileurs , Avid Juicy Seven brakes and Race Face XC crank to XTR. Does anyone have any comments on these thoughts?
  15. I don't think you should do the sani2C with a RM4, I think you should do the Sani2C with me. Dammit, I wish i could get an entry!
