  1. Feel welcome to join the pain on Sunday with Cresta Wheelers "In the Spirit of the Tour" rides. Please see crestawheelers.co.za for more details.
  2. Welcome to the Hub. What you eat and drink is only important when you train (hard) or race, consecutive days. I use water during training and may stop for a coke and a Kit Kat if it's a long training ride. The most important thing is to eat well (carbs) before you ride (unless you want to loose weight, then it's coffee only) and eat protein, as soon possible, afterwards to aid in recovery (again if you want to loose weight, wait before eating). During races I drink water and use energy gels. I have found carb drinks make you more thirsty. On long rides (4 hours+) I will try and eat a sarmie or two, during the ride / race.
  3. The new Powertap will be compatible, just not sure when it's going to be launched. I believe you may be able to upgrade the 2.4 system in the future?
  4. Stickers???? Shock, horror, stickers are heavy!
  5. Sounds great! Count me in.
  6. My guess is that if I FLY was around it would be RIDE magazine.
  7. I'm really sorry to hear about the accident. My thoughts are with you, Ed's family and friends.
  8. Why not join us and ride with untill your time is up. We're going Albert's Farm first, atleast that is the plan. You should make it all the way to the foot of the powestation climb before you should turn back. I might just do that, I have never done the Alberts Farm section before.. have found another ride buddy in the meantime, will run it past her! Nancy's bringing a hot friend. Double YAY. I'm actually going to the Military race tommorrow morning. Want to come with Mampara?
  9. My wishes are with her. Please keep us informed. I also hit a pedestrain on the Spruit, two weeks ago. Luckily I only clipped his arm with my handle bars and only I got hurt. I felt really bad, even though he stepped in front of me as I should have given him a wider berth (his back was to me). I shuuder to think what would have happened if I'd hit him square on.
  10. I think you should give up cycling. Will you sell your Powertap to me?
  11. All real Mtb'ers shave their legs!
  12. Buffwhack, do you know the routes to ride out Souf?

I thought it was Amoryns *takes coat and heads for the door*
  15. I think most of the pro's are running doubles. I know Burry does too. I was thinking about doing it, then I read Baltazar's post and have committed myself to Sterkfontein.
  16. As some of you may know I bought a new (2nd hand bike). The crank length is theoretically correct (0.216 x inseam = 170mm), but my old crank was 172.5mm. Now....... it feels much better on the flats, gentle uphills (it feels like there are no dead spots in my pedal stroke) and downhills (downhills always feel good) but on the uphills, it feels like I've lost 50% of my power (no smart comments from the Hub peanut gallery) on uphills. Short of Pantani selling me his Powertap, does anyone have any comments on this? Will my power return, will I learn how to climb again?
  17. Nice bike, Crow. Hope you have many happy and exciting km's on it.
  18. need a partner HR?
  19. My Giant (or any other Giant) is sooooooo not other. And you Cannondale riders are starting to sound like Zanu PF, we need all the help we can get!
  20. If I had to vote (and I'm not going to) for one of these, I'd go with Cannondale, but my Giant Anthem ROCKS!
  21. Push them through the tyre with your "pokey thing" , then take the tyre off, clean it out, put new sealant in and re-inflate the wheel. Trust me, I'm right, they're wrong.
  22. Do not, I repeat do NOT leave the thorns in. The heads break off and the first time you get a sidewall cut, or big hole, you can't plug and have to put a tube in, those sharp pointy things will make your tube look like swiss cheese. Believe me when I say it's no fun trying to get those little bits out, in a race, while your hands are full of goo!
  23. I'm riding Pythons and my DS bike weighs 11kg.
