  1. hijack : Did you get an Epic entry yet, Onetime?
  2. Giant Anthem
  3. Alternate SSI intervals (10-12min) x 3 @ 70 - 80% Max hr. with LT intervals (2min) x 10 @ 80 - 90% Max Hr on alternate days. I did this last year combined with sprints and LSD rides (4-6hrs) and had a great Epic.
  4. Something you smoke?
  5. I agree bunch on road = 50% of MTB effort, but if you ride a T/T on the road around 75% v.s MTB ride of same intensity.
  6. Erm, aren't there are different types of Ariones (different rails)?
  7. Actually I had to replace my strap after suffering the same problem. That reminds me I must go and fetch said strap from LBS.
  8. A very soft one with springs!!!!!! Actually I like the Fizik Arione. Use them on both my road bike and MTB bike.

    I'm so unfit

Thanks velo, you made me feel much better. I'm going to stop crying now and crawl to the kitchen to make myself some more coffee.
  10. So today, after 1 month of not riding I headed for Suikerbos and proceeded to die. Took me 2h50 for one clockwise loop and when I sat at the coffee shop afterwards I had to keep jumping up to ward off the cramps. How could I get so unfit in one month? Life sucks!
  11. Actually it's a little tender, I'll rest till the weekend, then try again.
  12. mrmed's bio - If I were a girl, I'd have won a couple of races already. *waits for the snarky comments*
  13. Actually, couldn't somebody organise Wednesday night crits, based on ability and not on age? I think the Americans do this?
  14. Nope, it all happened so quickly. I couldn't believe the force didn't break my leg.
  15. I wasn't planning on riding today, but when I woke up my ankle was feeling ok, so I decided to have a road ride. I was just past Tarlton on the R24, battling into the wind, when bang, my foot came flying out of the pedal and my shoe. I had been hit by one on those trucks that carry glass (the bottom of the frame hit me). Anyway as you can imagine, I pulled and sat down. The truck slowed down, the passenger looked out of the window and then they drove of at speed. I tried to flag down passing motorists to give chase, but it took around 20 cars (10 minutes) before someone stopped (The cars just drove around me while I was standing in the road!). Anyway, I wasn't hurt, my bike was fine, so I cable tied my shoe together and rode home. Here's a picture of what's left of my shoe.
  16. So, can Richard sue him for being negligent and falling off the see-saw?
  17. He's involved with the M&B club' date=' and I think they had a logo on the warning signs. Which means they may have sponsored the signs warning the dude not to ride the thing. He sure as hell didn't build and erect it himself! [/quote'] And even if he did, that @sshole (and now that he has instituted legal action, he is one) rode over it knowing full well the consequences of his actions. Actually, we need a lawyer type to draw up a petition an all sign it. Tomorrow, when I've cooled off, I'll write a letter of support and if he needs support in court he can use my wife as a witness (she fell off it and broke her ankle) to testifly each and every person that rode over that obstacle understood and accepted the risk involved.
  18. My granny is my most used gear on my bike! I think people just take it off for the ahhhhhh effect. Walking may be the same speed as riding, but you still have to get off your bike and more difficult get back on on a steep section and this costs time.
  19. There's a shop in Hyde Park, near Fourno's and Stax
  20. I'm sueing too! My better half fell of there and broke her ankle. How much do you think I'm going to get from her, for pain and suffering as I had to push her home (uphill) back to our house in Milpark. Actually, I'm sure the family will finally see it was an accident and there was no ill intent on the part of the builders. I've ridden those see-saws, plenty, and they are / were perfectly safe. Even if the see-saw didn't come down, it would be perfectly easy to ramp off the edge without any problems. In my opinion, the Spruit would be nicer without cyclists putting up man made obstacles / crossings. I like the fact that the river crossings change with the seasons and enjoy the challenge of finding a new line. Almost every race has a portage section and as far as I'm concerned if you can't ride an obstacle / section, pick up your damn bike and carry it over. To the family of the person that was hurt, I'm sorry you feel the way you do, but he made a decision to do what he did without anyone forcing him to do so.
  21. You guys may as well tar the Spruit.
  22. I get all my bits and pieces from my friend Faried @ Westdene Cycles.
  23. I've got one and I works great. Paid around R450-00 for it.
  24. Actually through a mutual friend I know HR is telling the truth. I wish I had the discipline he has.
  25. Hmmmmm, that's quite a statement
