  1. Kinky - I've got a JoeBlow And it pomps quite nicely, thank you very much.
  2. Westdene is my LBS and I must say I always get a good deal without having to ask. At the end of the day if the guys know you they will take the time to come and chat. But you're right the youngsters don't take much interest. I always deal with Stuart or Faried.
  3. I climbed 60m over 600m 12 times this morning and I'm stuffed. I hate Jaco! You guys are machines!
  4. Hey Attie, where is that "hill"? I often go to Taiwan, but never take my bike! I normally go to Taichung and Tainan.
  5. I think the hills coming back towards Johannesburg along Robert Broom are the hardest, but that's probably becuase they come at the end of my ride. Doreen is hard, but it's very short. Breedtsnek is probably the hardest MTB climb around.
  6. No, you'll just fall off it! mrmed2007-11-20 03:36:43
  7. BG owes me a kiss and I've made arrangements to go to Breedtsnek and torture my legs on those climbs. Anyone want to come with and do some "hill" repeats?
  8. Hijack! - Nice to meet you at the Expo, shaunh

    mtb pedals

I'm using 520's and they've never missed a beat (forgive the pun). In our riding group we call egg beaters, "wrist breakers" because everyone that has tried them has broken something (on their body) on their first ride with them. The only negative effect of 520's is the ability to clip in muddy conditions where wrist breakers probably have the upper hand.
  10. Hey BG, I want your chain guard. I'm still picking my flesh out of my big ring and that incident was 6 months ago!
  11. Met shaunh at the Expo yesterday. He's such a super guy. Guys and gals, dig deep into those long pockets.
  12. Snowboarding hurts. I'm sure my snowboarding trip in February will save me the pain of having to do the Epic. I break something every second year and I didn't go this year!
  13. Thanks MuXmAn and Thug, looks like it's repeats for me .
  14. I set mine to a level that is slightly easier. On an IDT there is no time to rest, so I rather increase my cadence during the intervals than increase the load. I find if I increase the load I don't want to exercise as long (could be a mental issue). I'm not sure this is the correct thing to do, it's just what I do. mrmed2007-11-11 10:58:20
  15. We went out to Breetsnek (???) today for a training ride (supposed to be a rest week) and I must say I was a little dissappointed. I'm not saying it didn't hurt because it did, especially my butt, but I was expecting 2000m+ of climbing but we only did 970m in 60km. The one side is 244m in 4.5km and the other 345m in 4.1km. Did we miss something? We thought about riding up "the monster" but some people told us that the local farmer enjoys shooting a MTB'ers on his land! Is there somewhere else (LOCAL!!!!!) with longer climbs? If not, we'll have to do these 2 a couple of times to get the climbing training in. mrmed2007-11-11 10:50:37
  16. There's a seminar on exactly this at the HPC at Pretoria University on 10th November 2007. If you PM me I can send you the details.
  17. Saturday MTB - 5hrs from Milpark ,down the Braam Spruit to Northern Farm and end in Midrand for my Epic partner's daughter's 1st birthday. Sunday - LSD road ride 5hrs. No idea where, but suikerbossie sounds good after I've seen the Epic profiles this week!
  18. 82km with 1800m climbing is very similar to the Mazda marathons, Giants Castle, etc. I'm sure we'll survive, because in Sabie, what goes up must come down!

    Entry fees

I think entry fees are at a respectable level for all one day races and that licence fees are also at a reasonable level. Just the seeding index must cost a lot of money to keep updated (even if it is always late, but that is another story) . When it comes to MTB stage races they're a little steeper, but when Sani2C sells out in two hours at R 5200 - 00 per team, are the organisers not entitled to make a profit? I think everyone is just so used to low entry fees and not paying licence fees that this is just someting to rant and rave about.
  20. Barloworld signed Chris and Daryll! http://www.teambarloworld.com/
  21. Is anyone doing the Hill2Hill this weekend in KZN, or has anyone done the Hill2Hill?
  22. I'm very worried. Did the D2D yesterday, 114km, 1250m climbing on the road and it hurt, now I've got to look forward to 2000m and 85km on dirt and then the biggie 3000m and 120km+ at the Epic. I need my head read! On that note, anyone doing the Hill2Hill this weekend?
