  1. After the great 1st race on Saturday, I might follow this series. Thinking about doing the 50km, but not too sure about the route profile and difficulty. With my current level of fitness etc it should probably take me around 3:30 to 4 hours. It would probably not be a bad idea to do it, as I cant think of a better wake-up call than to suffer a bit I'm in my 3rd month of slowly picking up my training, did the 30km with relative ease, but I need to put time in the saddle to build endurance.
  2. www.waterpoint.co.za They were up late yesterday already!
  3. Ok, so as part of my new fitness, training and diet regime, I got myself a MTB with these rims on (26", alloy double wall disc, pin joint, eyelets, 28h front and 32h rear). Had my first race for the year over the weekend (USN Cup, 30km). While washing the bike afterwards I saw the max rider weight is 90kg's, I'm already down 3 from December but still 9kg above the limit. Am I stuck and have to get other rims, or would they be ok? I dont do hectic riding, a race once/twice per month, dirt road long rides the other weekends and IDT during the week. Groenkloof also in between if time permits.
  4. @Tevez, dunno what size bike your mate's looking at but mine was the 2nd last 19", he better hurry along!
  5. Thanks guys, reflectors are gone, plastic ring to be chucked this week. Had a super race yesterday at USN Cup. ride was so comfy and had much more control over the bike and handling was superb. I'm very happy with my new baby, and very privileged to be able to get her.

  20. Sounds good! Will only be doing the 30km though They changed things this year, 2nd race is at Voortrekker Mon on 18Feb....gonna be a tough one
  21. Hmmm maybe I will check this out... Currently use CleanGreen, pour it straight into chain cleaner gadget, works well...
  22. Who entered for this one? Will be my first race of 2012, looking forward to it! What's the route profile like? I assume its not too hectic?
  23. I started at 37. Got a brand new mtb for 4k, coil (shitey) shock, only shifters are Alivio, rest is deore with mechanical disk brakes. Helmet bougt at Games for R150, OLYMPIC shoes for R450 and so it goes on. still has all the original components, I ride at Groenkloof and Voortrekker Mon, have done Karoo to Coast and various other hectic and not so hectic races. Admittedly its not te greatest biki, but i enjoy riding it and getting out there. I guess its just a matter of priotities, in my case its saving as much as possible now to actually put down a substantial deposit on a home, and giving my son the best possible care. What I really want to say is that you can enjoy the sport without costing you an arm and a leg. If you buy an entry level bike, dont plan to upgrade, ride it until it falls apart and then get a better one. I'll go for new bike next year some time. but welcome, you wont regret it for one single moment
