  1. 77km to go. Break @2:30 (thanks dstv for screening it on supersport 8)
  2. Imo player fatigue also has a role to play. NZ has a good system for developing more than 15 top players, and managing them well through the year. I hope HM takes a developing team on the year end tour.
  3. D/L has no place in t20 cricket - what fool would try to predict an outcome of 20 overs after 5 have been bowled? Total BS imo. Secondly, knock-out matches should never be decided by mathematics - either share the spoils or award the team that did best in the group stages.
  4. Cool! It looks like Zipps are the fastest then, when comparing apples.
  5. Enve 3.4 was the worst of the lot. The Enve 6.7 was the best, but it has a deeper rim at the back than the other wheels. I wonder how Zipp 808s would compare - perhaps Enve knows, but does not want to show?
  6. Is there a serial number on the BB?
  7. First Aus choked, and today NZ had a meltdown against spin. We are looking waaaay more classy than other teams not from Asia. Regardless of what hapens, I think we gave it a good bash already. The next two games will be a massive challenge, facing India on the slow turner that sunk Australia, and after that SL/Pak/Wi.
  8. Great win by SA - plus they are building lots of guts by "anti-choking" several times in a row. Could this be the end of that era? Super result yesterday, to win despite bowling second. Winning the toss was probably worth 30runs. For once our batting fired, and we had enough runs. Our team is loaded with batting super stars, of which very few have fired so far. Two of them fired yesterday, when that happens I think we will win 90% of the time. If 3 or 4 fire, we will be unbeatable. A superb bowling effort with the wet ball from the bowling unit - even Dale struggled with gripping the ball, Tahir was outstanding. (The no-ball against Morkel was a shocker, poor not to check with the 3d ump first. ) I hope we can play without a dew factor from here on in. Imo they have the right team combination now, just do a streight swap of Faf for Behardien (lucky he did not bat yesterday)
  9. X-ray doesnt work for detecting cracks in carbon. The best technique is flash thermography afik, but that is seriously expensive. My problem with that is then you have a 30k bike that you ride only 10 to 20 days in the year - not good imo. Secondly, you wont generate more power on a heavy bike, you will just climb a hill slightly slower. I do not see how that will translate into a training benefit. At your weight, a steel or carbon frame will be the best option, these frames are stronger than aluminium in general. Several of my big riding buddies have broken their alu frames.
  10. On a climb, power to weight ratio is the dominant factor that influence speed. On a flat, it is power to drag ratio. (I hope we do not see deep section mtb wheels and aero tubes soon, though)
  11. Imo the shape of the DA7900 shifters has the worst ergonomics of the 3, plus that was Shimano's first try at routing the shift cables along the bar - it was a good try, but not great. Go Red with a crank from an independant manufacturer - something you can polish the paint off from, like FSA.
  12. I agree with drilling a hole at the crack tip for stress relief. The problem with welding on the head tube is that the bottom bearing of the head set may not fit after welding. The bearing seat is a machined surface, and a bit if filler material here, or warping, will mess up the fit. If you want to have it welded, consider leaving the bearing in during welding.
  13. It is not so easy to get the batting order just right. We need to get some big hits in in the powerplay, but it does not help to los 3 wickets getting there. Perhaps: Open with Faf & QdK? Bowling in T20 is hard. Morkel is too inconsistent for me, and Tsotsobe have not bowled well for a while now, plus he needs some movement to be effective - similar to Philander in a way, more bounce but less control. But who to replace them with?
  14. Another chapter of the legend. Surely one of our greatest bowlers ever. Im glad NZ played the last over so badly - striker should have pushed a single and got Taylor on strike first or second ball. Dare I say "the c-word"? (applied to the other team this time!)
  15. It can be welded, to look nice. It cannot be welded not to break again - it will simply break again at the weld. The heat treatment used to make the aluminium strong is different from the standard stress relief that most engineering works do on mild steel. Imo the best option would be to rivet it together using a sheet of strong alu to both sides, something like 2024 or 6082T6, perhaps bend a little lip on the sheet, and chamfer the corners. There should be a sheet metal worker at most places that do maintenance on ligt aircraft.
  16. South Africa has more to offer on a mtb than on a road bike. We have dirt rides that are truly awesome, but few/no road rides in that league.
  17. And without the SRM? (just kidding)
  18. Road crankset & bb price? Does the bb come in Italian thread?
  19. Best option sounds like a 2x10 or 2x11(I suspect Shimano will launch them later this year). For a heavy rider that likes to power on the flats, 1x11 is not a good idea imo.
  20. Froome dropped out of Tirreno with a back problem, Porte also then dropped out due to illness, now this. Are these retirements related, I wonder?
  21. I would also like to know, if other than a 42. I used a 22 front, 32 rear ratio on the Mamba. If I did not have a gear ratio in that order, I would have walked.
  22. Instead of saving 500 odd grams on the drive, I decided to spend the money on a dietician, to lose 500 grams of body mass. I have spen R800 so far, and lost about 7kg. On a serious note, for me aa funrider, 1x is a downgrade from 2x up front. I think the new Shimano XTR will be 2x11, that sounds like rhe right thing to me.
  23. Wrong flag, needs to be the Chinese one
  24. The frame is a beaut, gold gruppo is too much bling for me. (if I could photoshop I would be tempted to turn all the gold on one of those pics into matt carbon black, for a masterpiece )
  25. C60 looks awesome, but so does the C59 with art decor paint. I wonder if there would be some good deals on those doing the rounds? (even a good price would probably still be expensive relative to the going rate for other top end road frames)
