  1. Any reason why you are going with the bush instead of the bearing? I've given up on the hubs since I serviced them to the point where it felt like I'm wearing the hub out just stripping and rebuilding. I love my mavics but this is one reason I will never buy them again.
  2. Get the Hub Doctor replacement and never look back. It replaces the crap nylon bush with a proper sealed bearing.
  3. I've asked some people riding on the hiking trail at Groenkloof to refrain from doing it on more than one occasion and was told to either f off or mind my own business. People using Groenkloof are in general very tolerant but it only takes one nasty incident (there are families with older people and small children on the hiking trails) for the situation to escalate. MTbers using the hiking trails fall in the same category than those who ride wrong way around or make their own trail because the existing is too long or too difficult. That category is called idiots.
  4. I think I might live close to you but can only do Wednesdays and weekends
  5. Been using Cateye strada for quite a while now and it does have issues. It stops working completely when I have my lights on. Obviuously EMI from the power cables. One of mine sometimes behave erratic but I'm not sure why. I have a feeling it is when I have the GPS activated but I have not tested this yet.
  6. Yes it is unless of course somebody has moved pretoria to another province
  7. Sounds suspect. If, and it is a very big IF, it really happened I would bet on one of the following scenarios: a) This happened outside the actually fenced area (Christina or Eeufees) B) It happened in the Fountains side where the Gautrain construction is taking place. Did somebody approach CL about this? If they have this in their newsletter then surely they must have details?
  8. and by then you have removed the tape with your head
  9. The marshall (a lady) did actually warn us as we came though but not very loud, just a quiet 'watch your head'. I agree maybe some sort of visual danger sign might be better. and ysterkas sorry for you but the rules state quite clearly you must complete the course on your own steam, swim or cycle Moes seker moer koud gewees het
  10. There are very clear route markers and it is even colour coded to indicate single track (blue), jeep track (green) and advanced (black). The advanced only consist of 2 sections at the moment but the whole track is very nice and the loop can be ridden on about 70% single track if you want to.
  11. The proposed fine of 10%, 10% of what?
  12. So why is everybody so aggressive about this? You want, you buy. You don't want, you don't buy. Not rockets science (pun intended) Now the 'models' that are showing of the garments, that's a different story. En ek dog ek is dun! Can anybody say POWER to WEIGHT ratio.
  13. Interesting little story that happened some time ago in the motorcycle industry just to illustrate what is possible and what is not- a few years ago some guys with money figured that the bike shops were ripping people of so they started what is called parallel import of bikes. This is the exact same product from the exact same factory but not imported via the official agent (not grey import). They started selling at prices WAY below 'official' bike shops. So guess what? Yes the official imported approached all the retail shops and insurance houses with the following: - No insurance if the vehicle was not imported by an official importer - To buy any parts from a retailer the VIN number must be provided. If it is not on the 'official' list no parts and/or no repair. Bottom line was that they were trying to stamp out the competition. Did it work? HELL NO! The demand for fair prices were just to great and the outsiders were not prepared to lay down so they upped the stakes witb factory warrantees etc. There are still some retail shops (most notibally kawa) who stick to their no parallel import rule but in general other don't give a **** any more. So the conclusion - Yes it is possible for the 'official' guys to try and put the screws on and YES it is possible for the outsider to give them the middle finger if they have the support.
  14. Oh an just because your LBS is not on the list does not mean they don't join in, it just means that they have not been implicated yet.
  15. You can move some of the spacers to be above the the stem or you can shorted the steerer. Above is fine because cutting the steerer should be a last resort. If you ever needed more length you're screwed.

    EPIC BIKE

sorry but I disagree with the spares by the sh*tload. Except if it breaks why would you need extra cables? To break a cable it must be very old or installed badly. I've seen guys take extra deraileurs, cables, chains, rings, cassettes etc. As brussel says, if you take care of your stuff and use it properly there is no reason it won't last 8 days. You get guys who stand on the pedals and then shift and look around in amazement when the chain gives. Duh if you treat your equipment like that then you will break a hammer as well. Stuff do break but a sudden failure is the exception, something usually crackled or popped before it snapped. BTW we are not talking about pros but the everyday rider.
  17. most can be set to auto or manual
  18. Where can I purchase one of these boards? http://www.mtncycling.co.za/News/TopNewsItemsPerCommission.aspx?cname=Number%20Boards or at race registration where they use SAS
  19. It keeps on scracthing itself? Oh TWITCHY not ITCHY. Basically its the concept where something respond very fast, almost too fast, to any input i.e. a bump, a rock etc. Too responsive can be as bad, if not worse, than unresponsive.
  20. Was going to ask the same question. These look like somethng confiscated during a raid in maximum security section of Pollsmoor prison
  21. IS there another kind? Roag MTN national seeding index Spectrumsport does the timing and that will be used for seeding. Seeding will be the national seeding system via SAS. This is why you need the SAS board.
  22. So when do you use the wine? Before, during or after
