  1. it's bit of a mess at the moment with all the trees that have blown over after the heavy winds last week. A 2 hour ride on Sat took 2hrs40mins due to it. Wonder when the trail will be cleared - I imagine it will take some time..
  2. and feedback: First ride on the SC TBc - words cannot describe!!! This bike just wants to go, and fast!!! Puts any bike I've ever ridden in the hurt locker...
  3. Tallboy Carbon wins!! BTW, that Anthem 29er can hit singletrack and steep downhill very well!!! Let's see what the TBc can do...
  4. What frame to go for?? Take all parts as a constant and the frames in question as the decider??? Riding: Stage races, marathons, hitting singletrack and downhill sections at super speed. Previous frame: Giant Anthem X 29er Aluminium. Built weight: 11.9KG's
  5. Does "Armstrong" not maybe include the one that went to the moon???
  6. Top quality race. The 65km was a BEAUTY!!! Thank You to the race organizers for an unforgettable day!!!
  7. Weather looks very uncertain at this stage. Come rain or shine, it's gonna be SWEEEEEEEET!!!!
  8. 33mm rain predicted in Ceres for Sat on YR.NO... Phillip's Creek is gonna be a jol!!! Can't Wait
  9. Funny one this. I've just come off a Gobi XM - numbness after 50km plus rides was unplayable!!! Put the Henge 143mm on. First week of riding, my upper legs and ass also gave me hell. Thought about it a bit. Due to my sitbones now being on top of vs next to the saddle, this places more effort/ strain back to my glute and upper leg muscles - where it should be. After the first week of bearing the initial upper leg/ glute strain, it's like I'm on cloud nine - no numbness during long rides anymore at all and the legs, glutes have adapted. I agree though, don't mess with settings before a big stage race unless the pain is unbearable. still reckon you must give the Henge a try..
  10. Try the Spec. Henge 143mm.
  11. Got the Crests on my Anthem x 29er with Hope Pro 2's - I weigh 90KG's Hit rocky sections, drop-offs and downhill with them very hard - they are still as true as the day I put them on.
  12. Simple one: Weight of an ave sedan motor vehicle = 1500KG's Weight of an ave rider and bike = 80KG's (variations here a negligible in this example) ave sedan hits ave rider (riding 3 abreast) = rider usually does not live to tell the tale on how the laws of physics felt that took place on him. Conclusion: DO NOT RIDE 3 ABREAST IF YOU CARE FOR YOUR OWN, YOUR FAMILY'S AND THE POOR DRIVER THAT MAY END UP HITTING YOU OR ONCOMING TRAFFIC'S LIVES. Cyclists do have right of way on roads, but common guys let's please wake up and stop being so damn foolish!!!
  13. LBS's will always over-rate the difficulty - less business for them. If you follow the procedure (many on the net for different brands) it's very easy. 9/10 times you will get a better result than having it done at a shop, as you are taking your time and care with the job. VNB make sure you use the correct fluid for the brake. ie there is a big difference between DOT 5.1 oil and say 5wt oil - you can stuff up systems by getting this wrong...
  14. From my many many episodes of CSI watching: I have seen the gates - ride there often. upon first analysis, the following was indicative: There was no petechial haemorrhaging. One could however see in the gravel 4x tyre indentations on the cable way side of the gates - this to me would indicate a 4x4 vehicle was used to cause the damage and the gates were pulled/ towed towards the cable way side. Let us know if the pond-scum are caught and we can tow them barefoot on the downhill jeeptracks!!!
  15. Guys, Simple one here. Phone your bank and let them confirm funds are in and available for you to use. Do this with any sale: family, friends and strangers - it's a business principle that needs to be followed, or your fingers WILL get burnt at some stage in life!!!
  16. You are seriously pissing on a few okes batteries now boet! Add something constructive or please f$k%off back to the tar or Sunday afternoon boulle. (no offence roadies, I have a soft spot in my heart for you guys..)
  17. You guys must READ and UNDERSTAND before typing - this is what kandui is getting at. Opening up a constructive platform for Sanparks to understand our needs. They have simply never understood how to get hikers and MTB'rs to use the same trails - kanduis work is trying to rectify this.
  18. Furthermore: Okes, stop being a bunch of Bitches!!! At least guys are trying to better the Sport of MTB and not just simply "free-riding" like most and take on okes like SanParks and build trails etc. I take my hat off to anyone who does anything to promote and better MTB, build trails etc. You will find the okes bitching on the hub and not doing anything constructive are probably the same ones dragging their back wheels down singletracks!!!
  19. Are 'The Glen' trails legal?
  20. I pay himm the levy, big tree, small tree, little tree, levetree.
  21. Thorns are not an issue on this race. Expect mud though!!! TP +/- 1.8bar. Be careful to go too low with non-tubeless for risk of snakebites..
  22. Reality is that it is not as accurate as a Powertap. So what!?! - to me okes only want to know "actual power" for their "om die braai-vuur" bragging rights. If you can track "improvement" in power - ie. you are getting fitter and stronger over a period for <R1000, the PowerCal makes good sense.
  23. It's true, only when you hit the deck and flatten a helmet one day will you realise its worth. DO NOT SKIMP on a helmet and always wear the damn thing, even if you're just cruising around the block. Remark from my surgeon was that I would have most likely been dead if it wasn't for the Bell Sweep XC on my kop at the time! - thanked Bell and upgraded to the Volt.
  24. Same question here.. Keen to ride this area again in the evenings after work.
