My youngest walked sleepily into the kitchen one Sunday morning. "Morning," I greeted. "What up, f***mother," he greeted back, using Chappie's line. We killed ourselves laughing.

Depends on how you define Oscar-worthy...I annoyed The Star Tonight's full-time movie critic when I reviewed Straight Outta Benoni for the paper. I gave it 12 out of 10, and lamented that it didn't get an Academy nod. For best foreign language film.

Hugh Jackman and that mullet and the Aussie rules shorts...There was just so much wrong with that film.

Of course it could be argued that their statement was art. A continuation of the parody they are, that kinda thing... A group that has appropriated all they are moaning about being appropriated themselves. It must be art. It was in the Indy. Did you hear about the "Let's Get it On" ripoff claims?

Did you see the hiding they took for making those claims?

I love Blade Runner. When Scott's director's cut came out, I thought, I soooo preferred the original.

An oldie, but I forgot how good it is. Picked this up in a bargain bin over the weekend. Struck me that it's almost a Taxi Driver-type film with Hoskins' character almost a bumbling but lovable Brit Travis Bickle.

They get aligned after you've had a few at the yard...

Anyhows, back on topic...sorta...here's something from a ride today. Among those commemorated in Benoni's Walk of Fame is a bowler known more for being blind than blind drunk... It's mostly about sport... Charlize is there too, but even she is flanked by sports peeps: Andre Watson and Kobus Wiese.

Years ago, an old family friend of my ex-wife's died and they had a bowls day in his memory. They day started by scattering his ashes on the main green. My kids were very little then...they thought that looked like fun and tore off after the family as they did their solemn farewell... Well, the place was in stitches. Old Tommy would have killed himself laughing, his friends said. Which I thought an odd thing to say, considering... I can't remember who told my boys what it was that they spread over that green...
