  1. You've all got it wrong. A real man will take the fastest, easiest route to get it sorted so he can go ride his bike. Which is what I'm going to do in a little while.
  2. Don't see how that could get you kicked off the hub. It really is plain and simple - wear a helmet. They can save you from serious injury, like in this video I posted the other night: https://www.bikehub.co.za/forum_posts.asp?TID=45959
  3. Went to the hardware store to buy a pipe cutter, told the guy I need it to cut 1 pipe, he looked at me like I was a complete nutcase. Told me they can cut it in house. Luckily I had it in the car, so 2 minutes later I have a nicely cut seat post, total cost = 0. Sschweeeet! The cutter would have cost over R200.
  4. It's a PRO aluminium post, so I doubt the pipe cutter can do any damage. Guess there's only 1 way to find out. I'll let you all know after my possibly seat-less Trials ride this afternoon!
  5. Serious question. Have a new seatpost, need to chop it in half cause they only had looooong ones in stock. I know the minimum insert needs to stay the same, so I'll allow for that. Now, I have a normal hand saw. Will this do the job, or should I rather go out and get a pipe cutter?
  6. I'm actually thinking of going SS on the Trials bike. Although there you run a 22/18 ratio. Definitely not geared for speed!
  7. Yes! I joined last year. Plenty of nice rides and not very race-snake orientated, which I think is what makes it so nice. Also go riding in more unusual places, like the CBD, Chicken Pie trail etc.

    my fixie

yup' date=' it's very cool? am considering getting that cartoon down as a tattoo[/quote'] I know tastes differ and whatnot, but please don't. I'm serious, just don't.
  9. Event info updated. Was great riding this past Sunday. The unicycle guys are crazy!
  10. I've only got those knee/shin pads that I want to sell so I can get shin-only pads. The 4X4's are overkill for trials. I think I was a fullface helmet at the bike park. Maybe have a look?
  11. Wow! That new bike has made you all hardcore now! I've got those 661 4X4 knee/shin pads that I actually want to sell. They're great protection (tried and tested that myself ), but complete overkill for trials. Not a lot of people stock protective gear, since it's mainly downhillers that use the stuff. Knee/shin pads are a good start, as well as elbows and wrist guards. I've also heard that compression suits work very well at avoiding injury while being comfortable. A full face will protect your face if things go really wrong. Try to get a MTB specific one instead of MotoX, since it should be lighter. Now, the above is for if you're planning on taking serious falls at speed. Are you planning that, or just want to start riding more gnarly stuff? Not sure where you'll find anything more gnarly.
  12. with napalm? That reminds me, I still need to wage war against my uninvited guests. Wonder if my napalm order has been delivered to the post office yet...
  13. Even the Superman tattoo? ok' date=' there is one bit that ain't sore. [/quote'] You had me worried there for a second!
  14. Even the Superman tattoo?

  16. No, Punt scored a pomp and I got tired. Well, not that badly - I was saving my energy for the Trials ride this afternoon, and THAT made me tired. I'll try my best to score a pomp tonight though. Should I let you know how that went?

  18. Good point!
  19. I love winter riding! Sleep till 8/9, then off to the nearest bike park/route and do a 2/3 hour without dieing from the heat. Or even better - sleep till 12, go riding from 1 till 5. Awesome! Also, take up MTBing and watch lost of videos on youtube. That always keeps me motivated - especially for trials riding.
  20. Show whoever did it that we're not afraid of threats! Post the pics! PS - Mrs Hog said you'll die a slow and painful death if you post any for her. I would take this one seriously. I'm scared of that woman. nah' date=' she seemed sweet. [/quote'] You don't know what goes on in this house man!

  22. Nice seeing everyone again, Mrs Hog also enjoyed it even though she suffered a bit. She wants to start riding every weekend, so I suppose that's a good sign. Almost time to get going for my afternoon Trials ride, YAY!
  23. cool. will be nice to meet her. Careful though, she's not a morning person, she'll be tired after the 6km ride, and she's been known to get violent with drunk east-randers hitting on her.
  24. I think in some countries we'd be legally allowed to stone you in public for not knowing! And by stoning you I mean pulling out the Dark side of the moon album, some dodgy smelling green stuff, and some Jelly Tots. Can't get stoned without Jelly Tots!
