  1. Hmm, maybe, but I think the white jersey is also secure now, the Polka jersey maybe but Rolland looks like a spotty Giraffe in it anyway, not very flattering, but we will see.
  2. Yah, I do much the same Big H, maybe as you get older you just mellow a bit,...... I dunno, but I seldom argue with anyone anymore, usually I find it easier to just walk away from unpleasant situations. ....but that said, theres no excuse for been rude to a client, even though I think many test the extreme limits of any shop owners patience and moral reserve, theres still no excuse for it.
  3. Fair enough, I hear what you say.
  4. Why you say that dips?, Wither one likes their business model or not, the fact is they are an extremely successful operation and no one can take that away from them.
  5. Oh, Indeed, you dont reach their level without knowing exactly who your target market is, no one in the industry has the stocking levels they have and no other retailer in the industry has as many stores in Gauteng, so clearly they know exactly who their market is, and that market is happy to support them.
  6. I think it works both ways quite frankly. Some years ago I purchased a Uvex helmet from a well known shop, I think it was 1500 bucks or something, cant remember, anyway, a year or so later I damaged it, but I liked the fit and so went back to the same store, they told me they dont sell them anymore and they didnt know who did. I forgot about it and bought another brand, then one day I was strolling through Princess crossing and I saw literally hundreds of Uvex helmets in the store, I went in and asked how much,.... R850.00 was the answer. So yah, works both ways I think. Personally I dont buy much so seldom visit any stores, I service my bike twice a year and whatever parts need replacing gets done then, other than that I just buy tyres and tubes, but my impression is that if you want something Cajees will have it, on the shelf, and you could walk out with it, I dont know much about pricing but they appear to carry an inordinate amount of stock and that has cost implications, so its a trade off in my opinion, order it maybe a little cheaper and wait, or walk in, pay a bit more and walk out with the goods, or at least, thats the way I see it.
  7. Maybe, I dunno, seeing one guy ride away from the all worlds best, not just some of the best, all of the best, like they were taking a coffee break is just quite astonishing, frankly I cant see anyone competing now, Chris, Porte and even the team are just too good. Its a matter of saving your position now, the race is won.
  8. Well, as much as I hate to say it, it looks much like its all over bar the shouting. Unless something dramatic happens to Chris, the rest are just riding to hold position. I have kinda lost a bit of interest now unfortunately.
  9. Hmm, I dont think it will be that dramatic a stage, Froome still has a reasonable lead and he is still to show any weakness on the climbs. I recon Valverde will try and take the stage win, Froome wont chase him and I dont believe 'Berto will either unless Chris cracks, but I doubt this so he should have a reasonably free run. My feeling is 'Berto will do just enough to move up into 2nd position, its a one day at a time affair and I think Mollema is the weakest of the big GC contenders in the mountains, I recon under pressure he will lose time, but we will have to see. I still say watch for an alliance between the Movistar and Saxo riders, - 'Berto wont chase Valverde intentionally, but will be looking for an alliance on Alp dHuez on Thursday in return. Sky has no friends and they wont make any soon, unfortunately thats the curse of been the leader.
  10. Yah, I said so last week already, LA was a master at winning the tour, irrespective of his past, his formula was flawless and he never took the jersey so early, if he did get it by default, he dumped it as soon as possible, Chris was in the unenviable situation of having to defend the jersey as he had such a big lead, to give it away would have been crazy, but its taken its toll, no doubt.
  11. Well, you know I am an unashamed 'Berto fan, I think the guy is pure class, never complains, never down, never rude, always upbeat and positive and just gets on with doing his best and making every race he enters exciting. My cynical mind says Valverde and 'Berto will form an alliance, Valverde has nothing left to ride for except a stage win in the mountains, 'Berto and Saxo will help, Stage to Valverde, Time to 'Berto, - its a win / win for both teams and riders and 'Berto has helped many other riders to stage wins before, if Valverde doesn't help for a stage win, he may as well go home now and recover for the Vuelta, athletes of his caliber dont ride for 25th spot.
  12. Yah, hope so, but Berto is an old tour campaigner, he has seen it all before so I dont think he will make that mistake, today is a stage for the breakaway, so my guess is you wont see 'Berto or Saxo the whole day, unless he sees a chance for more time they will have an active rest day.
  13. No its not, I understand its often difficult to call on the roll, but I think Phil needs new glasses. Anyway, Pan flat again today, not too many gonna vote against Marcel getting a 4th I think. Cav seems to have lost a bit of speed recently, or maybe its just Marcel is faster.? Hmm.
  14. Indeed it is, but afterwards, please let us know what the medical specialist suggests, hopefully its a positive outcome.
  15. Well, pan flat stage today, so guess it will be a day for Cav to seek another win. I'll PVR it and watch the last 5 kilometers.
  16. I personally think only a neuro surgeon can advise you correctly and I would never consider even contemplating advice from an internet forum. Although where I think discussing it with other people who have experienced similar issues does help, if only to know you are not alone. My experience was similar, my lumbar discs deteriorated to such a degree I could no longer even depress the clutch in my car my legs had become so weak. Just like you, I tried everything before undergoing surgery, nothing helped, mechanically I was impaired and no amount of manipulation, Physio etc was going to change that. After the fusion it was a long road to recovery, but I can say now I am 99%recovered, my leg strength is back to normal, I run I ride, I swim, I hike and so far there is nothing I have found I cant do, and best of all its pain free. A few years ago the degeneration caused me to undergo a cervical fusion, again it was a complete and utter success, sure there are some precautions I take now and I wont be bungee jumping for example anytime in the future, but in general both procedures were a great success. There is light at the end of the tunnel even though you may not think so now, I would discuss your particular problem with a neuro surgeon who you feel comfortable with and take it from there. Good luck.
  17. - Ha, Ha, yeah, but only on a weekday,.... weekends are far worse.!
  18. Wither Cav was Right or not I think his behavior at the event is indefensible, screaming and performing in the bus, hiding microphones, been totally disrespectful to the event and just acting like a petulant spoilt teenager is unbecoming of a professional athlete. I dont buy this b*******t that he is a nice guy and thats what top sprinters do,.. well as far as I know no one else does it and anyway he is a grown man not a teenage girl and he should learn to express himself in manner appropriate to that position.
  19. Julien Simon is a great sprinter if they can stay away, I think the others will try shell him as quick as possible though to have a chance of staying clear or winning the stage, with him in the break there is no way anyone else is gonna win and its unlikely its gonna stay away either.
  20. Yeah, but its all just a Crapshoot really, its the future, no one knows, its just a case of looking at the odds and rolling the dice, sometimes ya win, some times ya lose. ......but I enjoy the speculation immensely.
  21. Yeah, I do agree, I posted it somewhere else but its as Dan Martin said "Everybody in the tour will have bad days, the one who has the least number will win." That pretty much sums it up for me.

  23. I guess a mad chase for the sprinters. Nothing in the way of hills so to speak, just a short 4 cat climb of about 1 km which I doubt will worry anyone and its straight to the finish, with the TT tomorrow I think the GC contenders will be dozing in the sun and saving some energy.
