  1. I know mr Ross-Marsh is going with us to SBR on sunday but we are stating at 8h30. I was with him when he did the Strava lap and also his first time at SBR. A power ride it was. He knows about the extra section now. When I looked on strava it looked like the section ended going down the 1 way to the parking lot.. this seems dangerous. Not sure if there is a full loop section also ?
  2. I'm a skinny 98Kg's and are running ZTR Crest Wheels from a good wheel builder and no problems in almost 2 years
  3. We are also in Plett. Lovely riding there. Send me a pm with your contact details we are planning some nice rides.
  4. For the Epic you need something strong and reliable with extra spokes should you need it for a repair. Johan can measure and supply you the correct ones. If the wheel has been built properly you should never break a spoke unless you hit a rock (which there are LOADS of at the epic) You are only 90Kg. I'm 97 and are using ZTR Crest with DT swiss 240 hubs and they have been very good and this is on a 29er. Custom wheels are the way to go in my opinion.
  5. thanks for the info
  6. This might be a dumb question. but can I used my championchip (which i seem to have about 5 of) at the 94.7 ? The winningtime one has dissapeared. Or does anyone know if it can be bought on raceday Many thanks !
  7. Fizik Aliante Gamma XM works for me - How Do I know - 97Kg and no saddle sores at the epic The Fizik Gobi is the most uncomfortable saddle I have ever used - Just shows you .. different strokes ..
  8. Same story different year
  9. Lovely photo !
  10. I have the Fizik Aliante XM and have finally found a saddle that works very well for me. Use it on my MTB and Road bike. If you do 45 hours at the epic and no saddle sores then you know you have the right saddle. Highly Recommended
  11. That is the reason I'm not there this year. Too many push a bike sections last time I did it and too many Sewage for my liking. Went out for a lovely time overdue breakfast with the family
  12. It's a myth to replace the cassette every time you replace the chain. If the chain was replaced in time you can easily use 5 chains with 1 cassette on a road bike.
  13. +1 always good service from there
  14. A Thomson Seatpost never looked that good !
  15. Biggest drawback on the Garmin is Battery Life compared to the Polar. If you are doing a Multi day event and don't have access to charge your Garmin it is useless.
  16. I can vouch for the Chris king wheelset. Recently serviced the hub with the Chris King tool. Opening it all up and cleaning it in under 30 mIns. It feels super smooth again.
  17. Looks like we're going to be busy ! Hoping for good weather
  18. Hehe I know this is by far the cheapest option. Definitely going under 90 before the Attekwas comes up in Jan. Already down from 118
  19. Ok So lets say I get a Sram Force groupset and a 1500g wheelset. How much weight would my bike lose from it's current 9Kg ?
  20. Desmond, What are the drawbacks of riding Tubular wheels ? Punctures etc etc ? thanks
  21. Hi, I currently have a Specialized Tarmac full carbon Road bike that weighs in at 9Kg (I think way too much for this bike) 105 Components (2007) and a Bontrager Aero xlite wheelset (1850g) without skewers and tyres. I weigh 96Kg and would like to get another lighter yet strong enough wheelset. Any recommendations ? looked at Easton EA90 Aero's but don't really have experience on road wheelsets. Would changing the groupset bet more beneficial or is that not so important? Can the experienced road guys give some recommendations. Thanks
  22. I must be Honest this ride felt pretty damn hard to me. They really mean it when they say you pedal all the way. We had a sidewall cut on day one and another puncture.. Slime tubes recommended. Lovely route with about 750M of climbing on day 1.. so not really flat and 450 on day 2.. Day 2 almost felt harder than day 1. At the end of the day we had smiles over the line and lots of fun. Under 10 hours of Riding and training. GREAT WEEKEND !
  23. Unless your Chuck Norris
  24. All Contador did today was show his true Colour's He's a great talent that knows how to ride his bike ... there it ends.. Nothing more..
