  1. I have been lurking and reading some of the post on this thread and just want to say thanks to everyone's contribution and especially V12man for his assistance in upgrading our java experience
  2. 400W at 95Kg... Hmm that would be pretty good
  3. Nice hard day out there. Glad I was selected to start in the B batch to not overcook the start. Been looking forward to do this to try and get the suffer meter ready for the rainbow challenge. I must agree felt more technical than the Monster to me
  4. Dankie .. Sal maar moet begin hard werk om onder 95 te kom Clarens was korter maar verseker moeiliker vir my
  5. My first 80km monster. Enjoyed the ride with the technical bits it had on offer. Happy to take the buffalo category and certainly looking forward to next years one
  6. Also check if you are sitting correctly on your saddle and that it supports you without sliding forward and wanting to push yourself back. I found that my saddle angle was slightly forward causing me to push myself back.
  7. PercyZn was it you that finished with me just under 5 today? There was a guy on a single speed with me at the end. I should maybe rephrase proper mountainbiking as a proper mtb endurance test. You are right the Tar was alot. did it in 2011 last and couldn't remember that amount of tar VanGaalens is by far more "Proper" than this ride but not more "Endurance" Great result for you !
  8. Looking forward to hopefully a great ride ! Proper Mountainbiking
  9. There are a few named segments at Groenies. Check out Strava.com to get more details. A very long standing one since i started riding - Milkshake rocks - Get a milkshake if you can ride the whole thing without putting your foot down.
  10. Sad day indeed ! Colin thanks for keeping me company at the Attekwas
  11. We are also going to France again this year. Awesome Holiday with great food and riding ! We stay in Le deux Alpes at a place called Chalet Mounier http://www.chalet-mounier.com/en/. It's a ski resort with some nice climbs available to ride very close by. You can do road biking and loads of downhill if you feel like it. This hotel comes highly recommended for location food and facilities ! borg d'oisans (Where alpe d'huez is located) is just down the road and we cycle down there when we want to go do some nice climbing routes. We go just after the tour goes past there to avoid the masses of people but the vibe is great ! you can rent a bike in Borg from http://www.cyclesetsports.com/en/ for much cheaper than taking your own bike in and they have Pinarello's Specialized and Cannondales.. Speak to Dan Here is one of the rides we did http://app.strava.com/activities/15700043 Hope this helps
  12. Haha nice Suffer score ! well done
  13. Did not do the event today but can honestly say that It has some of the best Singletrack around ! Another chance on the 30th. About 10km before Sedgefield coming from Plett. There is a Signboard Karatara / Ruigetevlei Turn right and follow that road until you drive into a T junction turn right 50m Venue on your left.
  14. That ride had a good mixture of riding including Dirt road technical climbing and descending with some beautiful forrest sections. If you want to be more singeltrack specific you can go do the Red route at Harkerville forrest. Awesome riding and it should keep most people busy for at least 1h30. The event that is taking place tomorrow and the 30th in Karatara has got some of the best trails I have done this year ! Unbelievable singletrack !
  15. It was Epic with Awesome scenery especially on top of Spitskop. We did the shorter loop .. some other Ysters did 144km That day
  16. why not ride in the day. There is PLENTY to ride there. check out this ride we did earlier this week. http://app.strava.com/activities/32627593
  17. Great Riding and Company. Mtb year end function completed
  18. Time Atac. Bullet proof - even I could not destroy them completely Easy to clip in and out of - Stays cleated when needed Been through a couple of Sabie Mud fests and never had problems Generous float to save your knees
  19. I'm also a light and nimble 98Kg's and did the epic on a Fizik Aliante XM saddle. No Saddle sore problems. I have the Phenom here and can hardly ride 1 hour on it Different strokes
  20. Test riding is important. My wife was heart set on a cannondale scalpel 2 and ended up buying the epic expert 29. The main difference was that she felt more comfortable on the Epic Geometry. Same price same weight.
  21. Are you running the same crankarm length on the MTB and the Roadbike ?
