  1. Maybe she was worried you would spell the riders' names wrong? I presume you have spoken to her bosses before posting your rant here? I would love to hear Adele's side of the story before making up my mind who owes whom what here. Beyond that, which I think we will be unlikely to be educated on here anytime soon, if she has commissioned you, and you have laid out cash, then the decent thing to do would be to reimburse you. But, I think you might have mucked that up now, by opening your big yap here, so decency will be replaced by something legal, and you ain't going to see a cent. Threatening to call in a lawyer was a good, and justified move. Boasting about it here, before you have, not so clever. Oh, and I am sure the other cycling mag editors will have read this by now. They just love a writer with attitude, who isn't afraid of making them look bad.
  2. Like when you put dirty things like derailleurs and suspension forks on? Of course it gets heavy
  3. Just as well the MTN muppets did bugger all at SA's after Daryl, I don't think I could cope with an alleged cycle journo spelling Eddy Merckx's name wrong again. I must say, it was kinda cool to see some coverage in the Weekend Argus - down here on holiday, do you guys always get cycling coverage, we get nothing up north.
  4. I hope you encouraged him to stay and watch Darren win? A great example of getting on with the job at hand, rather than getting mixed up in nonsense you can't control.
  5. Diddums didn't win? Shamepies.
  6. One of them definitely was.
  7. Have you ever seen the one of the guy riding along a thin ledge with like a gazillion feet of drop if he gets it wrong? AMAZING. Must I post it for you?
  8. Then Don't Buy One.
  9. One of the things Christoph Sauser said about it was that it was a little but faster, but he felt he didn't need to concentrate nearly as much on the 29er in the technical stuff. For Freedom Challenge, from what I have heard, you will appreciate every bit of help the bike can give on not taking a tumble, the more tired you get. My 2c: 29er waaaay superior.
  10.
  11. It is something that is rare on this websight.
  12. So you haven't actually ridden one, then? For a period of time, not just off the back of your friend's X5 and around the car park? Can you spell Luddite?
  13. Oooh. Where's the popcorn? Remember the last time one of their riders used a non-team bottle?
  14. Why would a 26" bike be better here?
  15. Very true. Trek has won 17 of the last 11 Tours de France, and their bikes are k*k.
  16. We are not in Europe. In SA, the law says wear a helmet, Mr Liggett should have the decency to respect our laws, as a visitor to our country. Chop.
  17. Chuck had cancer?
  18. Somebody call the competition comission!
  19. I have a better idea: how about we use the Hub for talking about cycling, and somewhere else for buying and selling stuff. It was, and would be, a better place for it.
  20. Big H Normally, your gruff old-fartedness is fun and adds value to discussions on the hub. This time, however, you have got it wrong. And should really apologise. If I have managed to accurately judge your character via this wonderfully anonymous forum, then I suspect you will see you made a mistake, I know you are a good enough man to admit it and put it right!
  21. I thought Frankie say relax?
  22. I have read both threads - this is still irresponsible parenting, in my opinion. "But he wants to do it!" Sure, he does. Every kid wants to do what dad does. Two-hour-plus mountain bike races cannot be good for him, long term, surely? And a four hour ride aged eight or nine, even without the stress of it being a race/event, is bordering on abusive, again, just my opinion. Why does virtually every sporting code restrict participation at junior levels if there are not inherent developmental issues - even adults cyclists have problems with bone density, for example, and this laaitie's bones haven't even had a chance to finish growing properly yet. I really, really hope Carlo is still riding bikes happily and healthily in ten years time, I would love to be proved wrong this time!
  23. You might not get as far as the coffee shop: NOTJUSTINAFRICA
