  1. Did somebody say WTF?
  2. You accuse them of a lack of imagination. I suggest you do a little homework on just how imaginative these farmers are. If this entry procedure was actually as problematic as those who fail to score claim, they would solve it - which, even with their lack of imagination, they did in a big way with the Adventure. Hey, are these he same unimaginative bumpkins who built a second, parallel singletrack, so the capable riders could have fun while the roadies made idjits of themselves? I don't get the need for them to make a plan here, to be honest. Why should they bust a gut to make it accessible to the people who cant get an entry, at the expense of those that can, and possibly at the expense of doing what Farmer Glen and his mates do best, put on a damned good event? I think the way they run it now works just fine - sometime we just have to accept we can't have everything we want. PS - patiently on the waiting list. Have been for a while. not holding my breath.
  3. So you can talk to the Hobbits?
  4. Even Shrek softened to one eventually.
  5. Just so long as you are happy you are not trying to justify your decision, I am happy:) I am also happy to stay here and make a go of it. I have lived in other countries - and, yes, for long periods, not just as an awestruck newbie. Everywhere has its pluses, and its minuses. For me, the biggest plus is that this is my home, and that means something to me. That outweighs an awful lot of negative stuff, for me. And that is my decision. You would also be amazed at how many people are coming back, having found the septic tank, in particular to educate their children in schools that actually teach discipline, and in a country with a future. I fully accept that there are problems here - but there are problems everywhere. Yes, before you ask, I have been a victim of violent crime, I know what the wrong end of a gun looks like. Guess what - I have looked down a barrel in South Africa, and in the US - where the grass is greener for some. Crime is a reality around the world - I think it was one of the Movistar pros who was flung off a cliff, so the nasties could nick his bike, late last year. Was that in South Africa? Some places, given, are less violent, but you can comfortably find incidents to prove either side of the argument anywhere in the world. Now, just as you are demanding the respect you deserve for making the only logical decision YOU could make, give those of us giving it a go here the same respect for the decisions we have made, pretty please. I really did mean it when I said I hope your grass stays green, life is too short to wish ill on others.
  6. There is not one thing, other than your mates, that you miss? Seriously? Not one? Nice blinkers. What gives you the right to tell anybody to get out? You did, you are happy with that decision, and should be happy to share the pros of doing so (the cons, I am sure, lie on the other side of the blinkers). You can encourage others to make the same decision you did - I do admire your bravery, I don't know if I could up and leave - for sure, but why, pray, do I NEED to leave? Just enjoy your little patch of green grass, and leave us to make the most of a wonderful country. Make sure it isn't over the septic tank
  7. Looks like more just arrived.
  8. A Camelbak for a nine-minute time trial? Sounds like essential equipment to me. They must nail any rider, for breaking any rule. No this-is-worse-than-that. You breaka da rule, dey break your ball. Sorry, balls. My bad.
  9. How much for the couch?
  10. I need to ask a direct question then: Mr Bornman, is it possible for a layman to accurately detect a difference in performance like this? If not, we can happily agree to agree, and leave it at that. If so, my only likely theory is that the tightening of the skewer is compressing the bearings somewhat - which I would think unlikely with modern sealed-bearing units. Back in the old days, we would set cup-'n-cone bearings slightly loose, so they tightened up just perfick.
  11. Enter Mr Bornman, stage left...
  12. Maybe Garmin should climb off their high horse for a second and realise they are going to get hammered by the likes of Bryton because their service sucks, and their products are average, at best. If Bryton can come along and 'copy' your stuff, sell it cheaper, make it work better and make for happier customers... do the maths, Garmin. Garmin's marketing budgets will keep them in the game, unfortunately, just like Polar.
  13. Munchauzen, you say? I didn't see that one coming.
  14. Priceless. You may want to correct his designation in the context of his twitter tantrum yesterday: https://community.bikehub.co.za/topic/101469-some-action-on-twitter-earlier
  15. More Jock Boyer, from what I understand. With a lot of help from Ritchey, indeed, but Jock is the guy spending the time in Rwanda getting things done.
  16. When is this happening?

  18. All of them? Even the ones who 'cheated' and bullsh*t their way into $, but couldn't break 3 hours?
  19. If Satan ever loses his hair, there'll be hell toupee.
  20. This would explain its absence from the shops: I am sad to inform you that the publishing of TopCycle magazine has beed temporarily suspended. I have been trying to find a suitable financial partner in order to capitalise on the existing momentum, and have been unsuccessful thus far. The magazine remains on my radar. Thank you all for the support you gave the TopCycle team last year during the start-up phase, and I would like to think that we can call on you when the magazine gets going again. Existing momentum?
  21. Serial number?
  22. So what I thought was dassie roadkill was actually a merkin? Ewww.
