  1. It does look lekker and only a 15 minute ride from my place too Got nothing on 3T though. enjoy it.
  2. Same day as the trailseeker in the same vicinity. Area is gonna be full of baaiks.
  3. I'm sure I heard someone say "there's no more unrideable concrete climb" somewhere.... Are any parts of the marathon route available to the public prior to the event? Wouldn't mind a ride out there beforehand.
  4. So that one girl with the mo would take the "females with facial hairy" category across all age-groups, I take it?
  5. ya, chop. No more roadie stints for me. I wonder if i should frame my old one
  6. Awesome! the climbing was fantastic and felt a lot more agile on the descents. Much easier lighter / easier to catch when i went over the bars (case of BBB - body before bike).
  7. thank goodness you're a laaitjie. A couple more years on you and I wouldv'e dropped a spot
  8. I nearly finished first in MY category in MY starting group on 29er hardtails. They should sub-categorize based on wheel size and ds/ht too.
  9. Sheesh, well ridden then dude. I wanted to have a 34t x 11-36 for this one, but wasn't enough time to get it done before Saturday. I am very very grateful for it. Managed to get up concrete strips in 32(front)x34, but needed granny (24x36) to keep my feet in the cleats for Greek & Bliksem (almost). Gonna stick to my 3x10 for a few more months Very lekker race, really enjoyed it. Went over the handlebars once at the 34km descent and lost my line in some traffic 10m before the top of Bliksem which ended in an ungraceful lateral dismount. First marathon @ VG, and I was WAY too optimistic and unfit to think I could do it in around the 4h mark, am happy with 4h54. The 10 minute intervals worked great, loved the lack of congestion on the ride. And the floating bridges were awesome! saw some footage of some swimmers last night... wouldn't have minded a bit of cooling down at the old floating bridge near the start of the River trail.
  10. overstating the obvious here, but... if you have a long commute in, you'll have a long commute home, regardless of how lis you are for it.
  11. *mini rant* A mate of mine looking to buy a bike just sent me an ad for a bike that he found: http://www.gumtree.co.za/cp-sports-bicycles-fitness-in-randburg/specialized-price-drop-522472695 Then I found this. https://www.bikehub.co.za/classifieds/60788-2008-specialized-hardrock-price-drop/ Surely you'd sell equipment to a cycling community in the know at a better price than to the general public? There's a sense of familiarity here, and I'd definitely take this approach. Was a little surprised to see the difference. Or maybe hubbers in general just negotiate / knock down prices more than on general classifieds?
  12. dankie. that's the one.
  13. I've just spent the last 15 minutes trying to find the recent thread about the classifieds here being overpriced. Still can't find it, was there an active thread like that recently, or should I just go home early? :cursing:
  14. The 2nd one is always open. The first one is part of the Redstone series, I've ridden sections of it, but there's 1 or 2 gates that get locked. (you can get through a hole in the fence and get a mate to pass your bike over though  ). Park @ home of the chicken pie. There's some pretty sweet single track along the R512 to Nikita, and then a dirt road into Broederstroom. My next mission is to climb that big hill by the swiss restuarant and pop out at the bottom of the start of concrete strips @ vg
  15. or the magalies monster. But that's way west of harties. There's the redstone area, here's a segment of the race, but there's a lekker route into broederstroom, hook a right at the 4-way just before ale house and climb up along the krokodil river to come back down by the wimpy. http://www.strava.com/segments/5256241 *edit* Here's the climb http://www.strava.com/segments/3839560
  16. not a pic. still makes me want to ride.
  17. Just stumbled across this site... looks like you might be able to pick up some stage races at a bargain, if the organizers are listing them.... http://www.bidnstay.co.za/auctions/uncategorized/6-day-cycling-adventure-langeberg-to-the-coast-4-10-october-2013/
  18. No vehicles on single track
  19. sjoe. at least I'll have company. Take.beers.with.
  20. No, just a steering wheel. 29er.
  21. You have no idea how fast you're going when the airbag deploys.
  22. Sheesh - Mike / Karma... would've thought you okes would be in A. mons D half marathon.
