  1. I just got an sms that the event has been cancelled! The tmpd can no longer support the race.
  2. lower rolling resitance due to 1) Smooth surface 2) Higher tyre pressure This means less effort for the same speed, or more speed for the same effort. Wheel sucking in a bunch probably means much less use of the slicks.
  3. Do I need to bring a Mountain Bike ?
  4. When u come off the n14 and turn left towards avianto, two or three riders on the other side of the pavement, they went right over. 4 or 5 riders were assisting them. The ambulance was on its way and passed us about two minutes later. lots of roasties.
  5. Is that a joe blow pro ?
  6. What about riding the dome2dome ? it will seed u. If you dont have a history of races, then it wont matter much where u start, just enjoy the ride!
  7. For me it was easy to enter.
  8. Cyclists will allways be going on the shorter route, for what ever reason. (Could even be as a result of valid technical/health reasons). They are probably just thinking about getting back to base in one piece. The answer to the problem has been discussed before. Two sets of timing mats. The computer system can then correlate the entires and DQ those with no match. Problem solved.
  9. IDT makes a lot of noise. I use mine about twice a year, when I cannot get out on the road or dirt. Spinning at a class takes the boredom away from cycling on a trainer, if u get a good class, with good music. I have not yet tried rollers, but it sounds like they could be fun.
  10. Has anyone sent their polars for a new battery ? It has to go to the agents. They say it takes two weeks. I left mine at a watch shop who sent mine about two weeks ago to the agents, and am still waiting to get it back. What were you quoted ? I was told R225 for a new battery + waterproof It Seems hectic.
  11. Such sad news. RIP
  12. You need 1) Cassette 2) 9 speed Shifters 3) 9 speed Chain
  13. JD bug by far the best I have bought. I got one for my 4 year old. I wish I got it when she was 2 They learn to balance really quickly!

  15. The front end of my trek 4300 washed out on a tight turn. I jumped off the bike and landed on top of it, with my feet. It has a nice cleat scratch in the frame, where I landed. No bend, or dent at all. I have no problem riding it hard again. Which I have done on many times after. If I hard a carbon mtb, I would be a bit worried if the same incident happend. I am not sure if my thinking is justified ? Take the magalies monster, there are some serious drop off's. Would you goooi it down there on a carbon frame after a hectic fall ?
  16. Did you hear that Brian Mitchell Aus story ? It goes like this, he and a mate were in Aus, and after a round of drinking decided to leave the pub. Some oke was tuning him and his mate. Brian's mate was much bigger than him. They went outside and the Aussie said , he will take the little guy. LOL, the little guy was much more dangerous. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brian_Mitchell_(boxer)

  18. I dont mind if some cyclists take the shorter route. What erks me, if they take the shorter route and race for position against riders in the longer route.
  19. Maybe its cause none of the riders are on drugs anymore ? mudda2009-07-19 04:50:23

    CYCLING accident

The company: is that an insurance company or the company of the driver of the car that hit you ? If its not insured, then you should be able to claim back from the third party (i.e. the driver or the company). IF this is the case, then you will need to pursue a legal route. Which means talking to the legal experts. They will know who is liable. If the bike is insured, then the policy wording will state for what you will be covered for.
  21. ?Suppose that every day, ten men go out for beer and the bill for all ten comes to $100. If they paid their bill the way we pay our taxes, it would go something like this: The first four men (the poorest) would pay nothing. The fifth would pay $1. The sixth would pay $3. The seventh would pay $7. The eighth would pay $12. The ninth would pay $18. The tenth man (the richest) would pay $59. So, that?s what they decided to do. The ten men drank in the bar every day and seemed quite happy with the arrangement, until on day, the owner threw them a curve. ?Since you are all such good customers,? he said, ?I?m going to reduce the cost of your daily bee r by $20.? Drinks for the ten now cost just $80. The group still wanted to pay their bill the way we pay our taxes so the first four men were unaffected. They would still drink for free. But what about the other six men ? the paying customers? How could they divide the $20 windfall so that everyone would get his ?fair share?? They realized that $20 divided by six is $3.33. But if they subtracted that from everybody?s share, then the fifth man and the sixth man would each end up being paid to drink his beer. So, the bar owner suggested that it would be fair to reduce each man?s bill by roughly the same percent, and he proceeded to work out the amounts each should pay. And so: The fifth man, like the first four, now paid nothing (100% savings). The sixth now paid $2 instead of $3 (33%savings). The seventh now pay $5 instead of $7 (28%savings). The eighth now paid $9 instead of $12 (25% savings). The n inth now paid $14 instead of $18 (22% savings). The tenth now paid $49 instead of $59 (16% savings). Each of the six was better off than before. And the first four continued to drink for free. But once outside the restaurant, the men began to compare their savings. ?I only got a dollar out of the $20,?declared the sixth man. He pointed to the tenth man,? but he got $10!? ?Yeah, that?s right,? exclaimed the fifth man. ?I only saved a dollar, too. It?s unfair that he got TEN times more than I!? ?That?s true!!? shouted the seventh man. ?Why should he get $10 back when I got only two? The wealthy get all the breaks!? ?Wait a minute,? yelled the first four men in unison. ?We didn?t get anything at all. The system exploits the poor!? The nine men surrounded the tenth and beat him up. The next night the tenth man didn?t show up for drinks, so the nine sat down and had beers without him. B ut when it came time to pay the bill, they discovered something important. They didn?t have enough money between all of them for even half of the bill!
  22. I have bought from them too, excellent service. I would recommend them.
  23. There are only so many tips, new undiscovered ones do not come every month. To keep the show and magazine going, they have to recycle. The challenge for them is to attract new readers, while maintaining their existing reader/viewer base. This happens in all magazines, not just cycling. Mens Health. Cosmo, etc, etc
  24. Its not called the monster for nothing. You have to tame that monster.
  25. They probably budgeted for the expense from the sponsor, but the final distribution never arrived at the supplier. Somewhere in the chain it broke down. I have seen that happen. It comes from management, or mis-management. Probably someone pocketed it. Try taking it up with the sponsor, rather than the team.
