  1. When you see them, say nice bike. No need to express resentment because of their cycling ability on their machines. They are good for the cycling industry and keep a lot of the bike shops we all use open for business. Maybe they will improve as cyclists, or sell their machines at some point. Either way, its great to have them on the road and at the races.

    Frame weight

trek 1500 58cm Frame/headset and fork - 2kg (incl derailleur hanger/seat collar/steerer/water cage bolts) Weighed it when I bought the frame. I am Very happy - not worried about the weight (since its not the lightest, but its sure is solid)
  3. The wheels on the truck could have resistance from alignment problems i.e a fraction of a degree off. when the wheel is released from the truck 1) It has less rolling resistance from aligment issue 2) its rotational force is only applied to itself, and not absorbed and used by the object it was attached to. I think of it this way. If I spin a wheel up (the wheel on its own) to 120km and drop it to the ground , it will leave a nice black line and shoot off for distance x. If I spin up the same single wheel, but this time it is attached to car and drop it to the ground, it might only move the whole car a little bit, when the wheel spinning at 120km attached to the car touches the ground.
  4. 1) Pull in at the start 2) When the start signal is given, pedal 3) When someone hands u a medal at the end - stop peddling On a serious note: Make sure u have a carb rich meal the nigh before. For breakfast, eat what has worked for you for other races/training. Feed during the ride. I think u have enough energy on board for about 1h40m - so u need to fuel during the ride to keep the engine turning over. When u get to the n14 - be prepared for some wind, and a longish uphill drag from the bottom of the hill just past the garage. Also depending on your start time, be careful of the slower riders who have a tendancy to weave. Anyway enjoy the race - I am looking forward to a lekka beer at the end.
  5. This makes me mad. The punishment when they catch this guy should suit the crime.
  6. If you can, try claim from the RAF They should be able to compensate you for medical (up to 160,000k) http://www.raf.co.za/
  7. Have you thought of TREK ?
  8. If you feel a need for speed, kyalami has track days (zwartkops too), so you can really open her up !

    CWC Cycles

Hi All, Do you chaps remember the wheel saga from cwc cycles? Well, in that thread https://www.bikehub.co.za/forum_posts.asp?TID=34897&KW=raid&PN=8 and i quote directly ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- TAKE NOTE. Only wheels without the serail number has been taken away. We have many other wheels in our shop with serail numbers on it. Now the good news for all the cyclists and my supporters out there. You guys have never seen a prices like the ones you are going to see soon. I will also make sure that you will get the best prices on wheels as well as on other stuff that we import direct. Watch our specials next week. Hier kom GROOT Chrismas specials!!! Remember that we do garuntee all the stock that we sell. Thanks for your support! Chris Willemse Jnr" -------------------------------------------------------------------------- I have just noticed that in fact the prices have increased on the web site by around 10%
  13. If I eft it can take up to two days for it to process to the "receivers" bank account. I bank with Nedbank. Its a protection mechanism. Same bank 1 day Diff bank two days. I say give STm the benefit till Thursday.
  14. If I can get a grey parallel import - then I would go for it if it was cheaper. For the same product made by the same people. WHats gonna happen after you moer off the bike ? Its broken anyway. I dont believe monopolies are the correct way of a free market economy. How can a single point of entry own the market. In SA most of us have been suckered into thinking that its the right thing. Each day we are happy to pay more since its not a "parrallel" import, and it has the backup. Bru we are in africa - if you are not looking after yourself, no one else will. mudda2008-10-16 12:35:40
  15. My Thoughts are with Ben. Terrible Accident.

  17. I see that hifi corp has a warranty on its "parallel" imports - labeled instore as hifi corp import "We support both local and international suppliers. Products bearing this icon are 100% guaranteed by Hi-Fi Corporation and not by the authorised SA distributors, who are under no obligation to honour the manufactuers warranty or provide after sales service. " found on the web site http://www.hificorporation.co.za/ Now - this is actually what a free market is about. Pricing should competitive. If you are too expensive, then market forces will cause you to drop your price to be competitive. If there is price collusion, the fines must be heavy. Sasol has experienced this first hand.

    supercycling

I liked the techinal stuff with JB - that was cool - please bring it back. a product comparison would also be cool - like new dura ace vs the red goodie or what ever else can be compared. Maybe once a week a weight review of various components.
  19. That was a comforatable saddle. Sniff I suppose if u multiply my weight by the force exerted by rough terrain - no amount of weight loss will help.
  20. This is what it should look like http://i211.photobucket.com/albums/bb195/mudda007/Picture046.jpg This is what mine looks like after the last MTB ride!!! http://i211.photobucket.com/albums/bb195/mudda007/Picture045.jpg I managed +- 5km after that - before having to call in the support crew - LOL
  21. Thanks to Sammajoor, think bike, and all who made it possible. It was a great ride - The think bike team were really great - some excellent traffic control and safety. The ride started out cold - almost like winter, but warmed up to a nice temp later. Respect to all there - u guys rock.
  22. Map to start http://www.grandcentralmotors.co.za/Map.aspx
  23. When I was around 18 - I had a massive car accident in which I fractured my back. My vertebre was basically a triangle instead of a rectangle(t7) The doc was insistant that I have surgery - I refused. I do get the odd pain, but it goes away. I think I have just learnt to live with it. For me - I try avoid surgery at all cost. I had a bike fall earlier this year - I managed to hurt my hand in such a way that there was allways pain - much like a pulled nerve. A friend of mine had a similar injury from a different cause around the same time. She went in for surgery and had it sorted - mine took around 4-6 months to totally heal. I guess it depends if u r in a hurry or not ?
  24. If you are looking for comfort - then a soft tail will really be good. You will be able to all the rides with a hard tail. As far as components go - I would say lx or xt. Size - u will have to feel the fit on the bike. If it feels right - it will work for you. There are 2nd hand bargins out there - but finding the size that fits you best is the problem. With a new bike, you can try different size frames of the same model. Brands are probably all good, have a look at the warranty you get (which I think will only apply to new bikes)
  25. Hi All, What are our olympic chances ? Good/Bad ? mudda2008-08-17 07:24:07
