  2. When I was around 18 - I had a massive car accident in which I fractured my back. My vertebre was basically a triangle instead of a rectangle(t7) The doc was insistant that I have surgery - I refused. I do get the odd pain, but it goes away. I think I have just learnt to live with it. For me - I try avoid surgery at all cost. I had a bike fall earlier this year - I managed to hurt my hand in such a way that there was allways pain - much like a pulled nerve. A friend of mine had a similar injury from a different cause around the same time. She went in for surgery and had it sorted - mine took around 4-6 months to totally heal. I guess it depends if u r in a hurry or not ?
  3. If you are looking for comfort - then a soft tail will really be good. You will be able to all the rides with a hard tail. As far as components go - I would say lx or xt. Size - u will have to feel the fit on the bike. If it feels right - it will work for you. There are 2nd hand bargins out there - but finding the size that fits you best is the problem. With a new bike, you can try different size frames of the same model. Brands are probably all good, have a look at the warranty you get (which I think will only apply to new bikes)
  4. Hi All, What are our olympic chances ? Good/Bad ? mudda2008-08-17 07:24:07
  5. Lol the rider!!!!! Damn right I weigh in at a heavy 80kg depending on the amount of beers i had on the weekend
  6. Yes - the diameter is right. Its a tight fit. I tried the insulation tape idea, but the fit is so tight - it sheers off before i get a chance to tighten it. both are aluminium. I installed a longer bolt - to prevent bottom out. Some good ideas - I will give them a try. I will be able to mechanics goodies since my brother owns a garage - panel beating and mechanical ,hence the spot weld idea. Thanks Chaps - hopefully I will not be on downhill bike seat position for much longer!!
  7. Hi Chaps, This has been bugging me for a while - almost every ride I go on with my mtb - the seat keeps slipping down. This happens on both my mountain bikes. I changed the quick release on both to solid clamps - I thought that would fix the problem good. But it just keeps on happening. I am at wits end. I need a solid solution - at this point I am thinking about getting a spot weld on the seatpost so that it will not be able to drop below the level of the weld. I see on the net - some chaps bolt another clamp onto the seatpost so that it cant drop below that level. O yes - i have tightend the post very tight - it does not help.
  8. U cant be a mountain biker until u have blikseemed off the bike If you have not yet blikseemed off the bike - your turn is coming
  9. soft tail = comfort hard tail = light and no loss of power transfer due to rear shock. Although the newish soft tails are pretty light. (but cost)

  14. My condolences to family, friends and loved ones affected.
  15. the problem is not the question, it is the way in which it was asked. U might have asked the question: Yo dude, where is your helmet ? U should have asked the question in this way: Yo retard, where the f^&$ is your helmet ?
  16. Insurance will pay. The number of claims does not matter. Thats the reason for insurance.
  17. Handling compromised ? I have two mtb bikes - one with tubeless and one with with tubes the tube setup has slime and tyre liners - the handling is not compromised at all. The biggest diff is the tyre pressure - tubeless I can run much lower tyre pressure and hence - much better grip on the rough stuff. The best setup? Tubeless with slime.
  18. Some china man will copy it.
  19. aggggg no man - i had popcorn
  20. Ethics: A couple of tests Mom test - if your mom knew about it, what would she think ? TV Test - If it was broadcast on tv, what would the audience think ? Golden rule test - if the roles were reversed - would you react the same ? majority test - does it server the few or the many smell test - a gut feel about what is right or wrong There are of course personal ethical duties too - duty to foster trust - duty to act with integrity - duty to be truthful - duty to do justice - Justice demands that those who perform services are rightfully paid Something that is ethical may not be legal, and something legal may not be ethical. The best of course is to be both ethical and legal
