  1. Fox 34 stepcast or elite are great .Also have an Ohlins 34 .All are 120mm travel .Ohlins is heavier and half the price but any time as good as fox and can be tuned better than fox imo
  2. I vote for Peter Sagan

    Transbaviaans 2022

IT is HYPOthermia ,not Hyper. In 2012 i rode Cape Pioneer Trek and at least halve of the week it was raining constantly .The temperatures were never really low ,but the chill factor on a bike accentuates the cold to such an extent that i could not change gears or use brakes properly .It is just silly and dangerous to continue if you are ill prepared .Kudos,s to the finishers .Riding in extreme heat it just as stupid . I have snow skied a few times .No amount of warm clothing helps if they become wet .Then you go home
  4. If they open the feedlot doors ,they call it free range .Plenty videos on the scam
  5. Fabric scoop better than spez phenom for me .Monton is really good for the price .Assos still the best
  6. Warranty replacement from Cannondale if it does not creek😄
  7. I once asked a bicycle shop in Amsterdam if they have Shimano XTR drivetrain in stock .The shop assistant wanted to know for which pro team am i riding 😄
  8. I have spent 5 weeks in Europe recently .It is competitive ,people work hard and everybody chips in to make it work .BEE has NO status there and they will hardly notice Qhubeka for more than a second .In fact i think sponsors shy away from it ,especially the way the migrant crisis is developing over there .They don,t want to be associated with anything not done on merit alone .There are hundreds of exciting young cyclists that want to make their mark .If your team goes over there and kicks some ass the old fashion way ,you will be noticed !and attract sponsors also
  9. EV,s and cycling is an excellent match .Tesla is not big on sponsorship and they do well in Europe already .I think such a team will be very much welcomed in the highest stakes of bike racing .Tesla is a household name in all European cities ,but they need something to push them further in that market
  10. Get a 32 oval
  11. Recently in Spain for two weeks ,the only Land cruiser i saw was the police vehicles and they were the basic TX type Prado. Major farming in France and Spain and the go to transport is a form of Van .I did not see even one double cab bakkie in France or Spain
  12. Same here .I have enough cycling gear ,bikes to last the rest of my life .
  13. People forget that cash is king .By having cash on hand i paid for two Europe trips by using the Rand /euro/dollar exchange difference and timing in the last two years
  14. Just come back from Spain .South Africa is as expensive or more than Spain and they are paying R38 /l for petrol .Buffelsdrift is struggling to keep afloat .Heavy rains in summer and now everywhere things are quite .If we don,t support these bikeparks they will be closing soon
  15. I have and ride a set of the previous generation Arch rims with the cracks .It does not seem to make any difference in the performance of the rim .There are small cracks and they stay that way
  16. Yes it does .But before wider rims we all rode narrower ones also, like 22mm ,and they also worked. For me the biggest difference was going wider rim and tire on road bike wheels
  17. Variety ! .I never back down when it comes to the technical bits ,but i also know my limits and stay away from jumps .I love Magalies monster for the challenge and technical stuff up and down ,but i also like a lekke road race or gravel riding .I have all the equipment and use different bikes for their purpose .If i had to choose it will be XC mountain bike riding .My next adventure will be the e bike thing
  18. At Magalies monster there were quiet a few e bike riders .The only gripe i have is on technical climbs where most normal bike riders are walking already and the e biker wants to pass instead of pushing his heavy bike .Not the way to make new friends ! ,but it is something we have to get use to i reckon
  19. Once again the mother of marathon events was hard as always but always satisfying .The unprepared bled !For the prepared it was a tough day out .Weather and scenery could not have been better
  20. iLIKE ASICS AND NEW BALANCE
  21. I have had a few expensive name brands and none of them lasted and worked well .Then i bought one of those cheap plastic jobs that cost the same as two coffees .If you keep it clean and by that i mean don,t keep it on your bike exposed to the elements ,it works fine .Even if you give it away in race ,it is so cheap to replace .Raleigh or Ryder brand
  22. Bad sealant .No name shop sealant essentially cost me my cape epic medal last year. On a rainy day the valve started leaking and after two tubes our time buffer was gone and we just missed cut off .The sealant was plenty but was the same consistency as milk .Did not even make my fingers sticky .Stans, Ryder and tyrejuice is fine .Don't use other crap
  23. They don,t spend that much on food ,believe me !
  24. I had no surprises from riders i followed .The well prepared made it , the under prepared did not .With under prepared i mean a very fit roadie /spinning bike rider that had not done a trail seeker even . Could not ride the downhills fast to make up time after the climbs and fell plenty times .The mentioned last lion rode with us last year .He was already carrying more weight than he should have. Another friend got a free entry a week before the start ,but he has an athletic background and was already fit .Their team made it in good time .The only thing i would change about the whole event is to have a Solo category
  25. The way i see it this year is that there were guys i know that obtained an entry that would have not been interested in the past because of the difficulty to get such an entry .They could ,would not have prepared like i did in the past due to very few pre events during the year .When the heat hit day one,i knew they would be in trouble and they did not make it past halfway of day two and three .The riders that have pedigree ,having years of mtbing under their belt and have done many stage races also suffered ,but managed to grind the first three stages away and made it to the end .The start this year exposed bad prep very early, where in the past it happened only later .The few times that i have been caught on a mtb in extreme heat have not been pleasant and there is nothing that can really prepare you for that .Last year the queen stage was stage five and the back markers got caught in a rainstorm halfway on the mountain .Average speed drops and things got messy and really difficult
