Depending on what time(ie not to early) you go it should be safe ,but have heard of an incident along that route where a chap was trying to catch up to the bunch in the early morning(ie when it was still dark) and got attacked.
That's bad news we use that road every morning riding around Marine drive. I must agree however never to ride that stretch of road past the Walmer township alone as there have been many attacks on both cyclists and runners.
That's really bad news as many of us ride that route early in the morning before work and it is quite dark. I also get nervous to ride past Walmer township when the group from Walmer is on the small side.
Hahaa....wow luckily I followed your advice and stuck with the 12/25. People attacking left right and center so yah it was a hard day in the saddle ,but not as tough as the steak race IMO.
Jip I also enjoyed the new route. Just managed to cling onto Anriette's wheel at the finish Lots of climbs and after my training ride this morning I can feel it in the legs Only thing I suggest is that they get winningtime to time the race as Im not to confident about getting the correct results.wisecrack2010-05-03 03:30:58
Hmmm...talk about making assumptions Easy way to find out who was on the scene is to go to the station commander of kabega SAPS lay a complaint and let them check on the vehicle tracking system(most SAPS vehicles is fitted with them) who stood off there at the time of the incident. Surely the nephew would be able to point out the officers?
I usually find that when I'm starting a hill and the chain is in the first or second biggest cog at the back and I then shift from the large ring in the front to the small one my chain comes off ,but that is not the correct way of shifting so I try not to do it
