  1. Please don't start dissecting the origins of Contermans...
  2. Not two days ago I was way down South and 'I miss riding up to the Mast, I wonder when it will open again' popped up in conversation #holding thumbs
  3. Unless you have tried to ride one if those hideous monstrosities everyone rides through the Netherlands, you don't know what people will buy. If Spezthalised wants to fill a gap, let them. I just want a new 26er
  4. Gees, so much anger. After I had a Fat biker gap me up a hill on the 100 Miler, having a guy on a Humming bike come past would just be the last straw hope Spez never brings out those 4 wheel electric shopping carts next. But hope they make some money out of it, so they can bring back a trusty 26er for me next.
  5. There was a fellow with a Reign at Hoogekraal this afternoon - he arrived as I was leaving. But it must have been an older one cos it didn't look anything like that - bloody lovely looking bike, really wish I had cash and the talent to use it properly.
  6. All I have is a local Watt bike to measure... Can go at 3W/kg for ages, but push it just to 3.2 and I fall part. Bloody marginal increases.
  7. Went back through the thread and see you are one of the actual builders. I gotta complement on the way you have done pretty much the whole trail on a level that is hard enough to have a real jol, but that relative beginners can do most of it. Other than the steep climbs on the start of the purple single track when I was glaring into the sun and couldn't see a thing and one slightly dodgy right hand switchback on purple where a rut caught me, I didn't need to put a foot down. Reminded me very much of my favourite Grabouw trails mixed with a bit of the scarier Tygerberg trails, which means for me it is just right. My Garmin map looks almost nothing like the maps on the site though, so look forward to the updated maps cos I can't remember where I may have missed turn offs.
  8. Well done to the trail builders. Did my first ride there this Am and loved it. Best bit is that we only did 22km (purple, some red and green) so there must be more to find!
  9. Running over kerbs with my bike in my one hand, not paying or enough attention to the ground. Flew like an ostrich. Thankfully a nice lady pointed out my glasses were about to go
  10. Gees, went ass over kettle, landed straight on my elbow and wrenched my ankle. And that was running to my starting shoot when I tripped over some black metal thing on the ground in the dark. But otherwise, a lovely day out. Hope everyone stayed safe.
  11. Edit: will be about 520m and 43km. Original route is 1100m. Looked at Garmon download of last year to end of blue route and back.
  12. Don't worry, Slow, us taking u up on your idea would be the same as us saying Karooryder was lazy and prematurely judgmental. But we are nice here so we would'nt say it.
  13. I pay by the meters of climbing... It better be exactly 675.23m!
  14. I missed his one. but the traffic on eastern boulevard has me FURIOUS! I better not call
  15. I don't know Slowbee personally, but I swear there was just a Terri on the radio espousing his exact views... Hmmm... Call me Sherlock!
  16. Couple of people on here should feel like full boxes
  17. Nah, now I only use long stem tubes that fit my fricken bomb adaptor! 2 min!
  18. I have experienced them as totally insane during last year's 99er when I had a puncture and ended up in H group. And that is 3000
  19. I don't think anyone disagrees with anything you have said, and I agree that people who have spent a lot of money from out of town, or country, would feel really disappointed. The problem you have here is not one of planning though. There has been work started in Sea Point a week ago on things like the start finish, television coverage, the works. It isn't the route that is the problem, but a multitude of other issues. If they moved it to Stellies on a whim, there'd be more people complaining of transport, lack of parking, dangerous roads, and an underwhelming experience after the ride. I am surprised they didn't cancel it. Perhaps a different question is why there was no 'event insurance' that could offer refunds to people who have suffered financial loss. (other than travel insurance). Look what happened in that race in Jhb with rolling road closures, when it was a farce with just a group of pro's. The other options of doing an out and back past Blouberg would involve national N-roads, or otherwise small back roads that would be unsafe for masses. Or I think!
  20. An aside: wonder if we can ride without our chips. Gees don't want 100% seeding if I chill with my mates.
  21. Actually, I don't disagree with you at all. (sssshhhh... Don't tell anyone) And I have already decided to drop back and ride with my friends who have all started riding this year. Gonna be fun! (Ps. Finished my course of antibiotics today... Sort of happy, cos I know I was going to hurt myself on sunday)
