  1. Look at the second technical document. Will provide all answers. http://bike.shimano.com/publish/content/global_cycle/en/us/index/products/mountain/slx_with_dyna-sys/product.-code-FD-M660-10.-type-.fd_mountain.html SI-5KV0A-003-ENG_v1_m56577569830765729.pdf
  2. Hey, that was my favourite 26er combo! Barro Mountain not available in 29er though
  3. I use a 680mm low rise bar on my Tallboy. It feels just right. Have a look at the bars specified on OEM 29er bikes, should be a good indication.
  4. Any news on yesterday's stage yet?
  5. http://www.cyclingnews.co.za/Pages/Default.asp?More=Jacques%20on%20the%20come-back%20trail&FeatureID=4112&SectionID=3 "If Jacques Rossouw (Itech Connect) should win the MTN Ride Crater Cruise ultra-marathon mountain-bike race in Parys tomorrow, he should thank his wife, Johanna. She is the one who convinced him to resume his career as a mountain-bike professional. The 30-year old Rossouw retired from active racing about seven years ago. But everything changed when his wife, while surfing the internet, realized that her husband used to be one of South Africa’s best young mountain bikers. “Why don’t you race anymore,” she asked him. That one question turned out to be the turning point in his cycling career. With her encouragement and that of his friend and former boss, Shan Wilson, Rossouw began to train seriously again. He even resigned his job with the blessing of his wife. “I guess I am back in professional cycling for another six years,” said Rossouw."
  6. When I started mtb in 2004 Jacques was the best and my 1st mtb hero, then in 2005 he disapeared off the radar completely untill recently. He is back in form and won the Isuzu 3 towers convincingly with teammate Brandon Steward. Really happy to see you back Jacques!
  7. Will play with the limit screws and see how it goes. Yes, complete drive train is new except for the controls (shifters) which is still 3 speed front derailer shifters. I use the old centre shift for the new low ring and the old high shift for the new high ring.
  8. Nope. No cables running under the BB. Why?
  9. Thanks, although static chain length is fine (some tension when running small-small and more than enough play when running big-big), you made me think of other thing: It's a dual suspension and while standing, there may be some pedal-bob that may effect chain tension, length and angle.
  10. Not sure I understand. It does not cause problems while shifting, only when standing and giving it stick.
  11. Re the front derailer: It is clear of the chain, but perhaps I should try to set it closer to it as to prevent the chain from coming off. Just worried about the possible chain-rubbing-against-the-derailer sound. Re the chainrings: Good question; it is the Aerozine double crankset. According to the suppliers, it is for both 9 and 10 speed as the only difference between 9 and 10 speed is the chain width. It shifts perfectly though. Think this may be the issue?
  12. I have a new 10sp mtb chain, new crank with double mtb chainrings and a new 10sp cassette. The chain "skips" on the chainring when applying high torque when in the big chainring (39 teeth), especially when I am in the 3 or 4 smallest rings of the cassette. It sometimes "skips" off the chainring. It's a horrible sound and feeling when suddenly there is nothing to support your weight. Almost lost a test ticket and I fear I might be damaging my drivetrain too. Any suggestions or reasons why this happens? PS: All was ok with my tripple cranset.
  13. Please take this piece of advise to heart: Never use sealant with any Kenda tyre, not even UST ones!! Chances are great you will end up looking like this pretty soon while staring at the massive bulges due to delamination of the inner layers of the tyre.
  14. Both legs?
  15. Good choise and congratulations! But where is the pitchas??
  16. I might be missing something here, but I can't see any benefit here except a minute weight saving benefit. The important thing about the OEM double chainring cranks is their centralized position in relation to the cassette. So by just removing the big blade and replacing the remaining ones with slightly bigger ones defeats the object in my opinion.
  17. Thanks @BigBen and @Caad4! It is the Carbon. Frame with shock (love that shock) and headset weighs 2.44kg (size L). Complete bike as it stands there is 12.2kg. There is lots of room for weight saving, but I am happy with it just like it is. I am also amazed at how solid that carbon feels and sounds. Santa came early this year
  18. A lot happened for me since Friday. I had a closer look at the Tallboy and it said: buy me! So I did just that on Saturday morning and build it the afternoon. Rode it on Sunday and I am truly amazed.
  19. Bought the frame on Saturday. Love the ride.
  20. Bet you don't drive a BMW then. My dream bike (adhering to all your requirements above) would be the French brand Lapierre. Awesome looking bikes, awesome quality. They are still to bring out a dually though.
  21. Jip, that's the 26" version. Replaces the Marathon.
