  1. Another link: http://www.bikemag.com/gear/preview-gt-zaskar-100-9r-pro/
  2. I see that. Will find out more and let you know. I do know there were some updates made after the race as updates (team type entries, latecomers, etc) could not be done during the race period. Also, the manual timekeeping had to be matched with the electronic one as to double check the results before publishing. What might have happened in your case, is that the electronic timing missed a lap and has now been rectified, but as I said, i'll check for you.
  3. Great to hear you all enjoyed it! Results are out: http://www.lifeministriesschool.co.za/downloads/2011mtbresults.pdf Also official photos will be uploaded today (go to Gallery): http://www.od-event-photographers.co.za/
  4. Some tips if you are going to buy a frame only: The head tube length of the new frame may be longer than your current bike and thus you may run out of fork steerer tube lenght. Make sure both have tapered head tube (or both square). BB type to be the same athough there are some adaptors available. Some makes (Niner is one) recommend only 2x10 cranks.
  5. All riders are in for a real treat this year. Lots of new twisty singletrack, wood bridges, banks, handbuild wood pumptrack section, floating bridge, etc. The first open road section has been removed. There will be plenty space to overtake, but it will be tough in the twisty singletrack portion (and impossible on the floating bride, but the bridge isn't that long). The bridge should last, way more people goes over one with the sani2C. We are building the bridge this afternoon (tonight? ) It is more pricy, complicated and a mission than you might think. I take my hat off to Farmer Glen. See you all there! I will be the guy with the wrist brace who will be sulking because he can't ride.
  6. Imho it is not about the amount of power transferred that increases, but the pressure on the point loads of the feet that decreases.
  7. Also been riding my road bike with mtb shoes. I do think there will be a small advantage riding with road shoes and cleats though (stiffer soles for better power transfer and bigger contact area of cleats), but not enough unless you are not an extremely competitive road racer.
  8. My vote for the gheyest comment of the day
  9. +1
  10. Really? I do not see religeous people on this thread (or any other thread) starting religous debate or give religous imput unless "challenged" otherwise. I do not wish to debate religion, but know this: Atheism is a religion too; you have to BELIEVE that there is no God.
  11. Took your advise. Had 2 long runs this weekend and well....AWESOME!
  12. Never seen such neat joint welds before. Almost looks like a carbon joint.
  13. This may be a good time to reveal that I am your long lost brother. Now go tell mommy we need two!
  14. Myself and some friends had some cramping issues when racing. Since using Rehidrate it has stopped. Period. I do not use it to replace the energy drink, just to prevent cramps. So one sachet before the race and one about halve way through. Magic stuff!!! PS: I do not know what the "Sport" version does differently, but it works too. Try the Blackberry, it tastes great!
  15. Wayne: "Caddy, do you think I will get there with a 5 iron?" Caddy: "Yes sir, eventually" Wayne: "Caddy, you are the worst caddy ever!" Caddy: "Impossible sir, that will be too much of a coincidence." My problem with golf is that I stand too close to the ball...after I hit it. Enjoy your round tomorrow.
  16. Very few guys have your skills @Iron. Having said that, what you suggest above is true. Are we to deny others who do not have your skills a fun ride?
  17. I spotted a 2011 Merida 96 Carbon 3000D in Rosslyn yesterday (Industrial area in North Western extreme of Pretoria). It was ridden by a guy with an eye cap in jeans and tekkies. He rapidly dashed off when he realized I am interested in his ride.
  18. @Camerons: I Value your opinion and advise and I agree that cycling fitness does help a little for running. But only a little. I am a pretty fit cyclist, but I find it tough to do 5min/km on the run, even on just a 10km run. If I did not cycle at all, I am sure I would not be able to run 2km. So yes, some help there. I must agree more with @Dangle, @Agteros, @etc, though. I have seen some runners joining us on the odd cycle and then keeping up pretty well. I cannot imagine any of our group of non-running cyclist doing the same with the runners group on an odd run.
  19. Thanks guys. Some great advise here. I am not a complete running novice. Been running about twice a month and did some adventure races recently (hence the broken wrist ) Did a 30km trail run this weekend and I'm pretty stukkend today. I just never ran as my only training, nor Have I been off the bike for an extended period. Think I will take the advise of taking it easy to start off with. Good to hear running may even make one a stronger cyclist! And it's cheap!
  20. What do I have to rub? Before or after the run? Thanks for the advise guys.
  21. Broke my wrist and thus off the bike for some weeks. What I like about cycling is the outdoors factor. I am not an indoor trainer kind of person, so this is not an option for me for to keep fit. Does a 3hr base ride equate to a 3hr slow run, or can I run shorter for the same result? Any further suggestion, ie hill running or intervals welcome please.
  22. Stunning. All it needs is a set of pink Hope mono brake discs.
  23. Works fine, just make sure you use a cage that grips the bottle very tight, like the Specialized cages. There are various types of fixing units onto the seatpost available too.
  24. Short answer is no. Sorry.
  25. Mine is 2 years and going strong. No issues. Ceramic bearings great. Replacement chairings well priced and durable too.
