  1. I have a new 10sp mtb chain, new crank with double mtb chainrings and a new 10sp cassette. The chain "skips" on the chainring when applying high torque when in the big chainring (39 teeth), especially when I am in the 3 or 4 smallest rings of the cassette. It sometimes "skips" off the chainring. It's a horrible sound and feeling when suddenly there is nothing to support your weight. Almost lost a test ticket and I fear I might be damaging my drivetrain too. Any suggestions or reasons why this happens? PS: All was ok with my tripple cranset.
  2. Please take this piece of advise to heart: Never use sealant with any Kenda tyre, not even UST ones!! Chances are great you will end up looking like this pretty soon while staring at the massive bulges due to delamination of the inner layers of the tyre.
  3. Both legs?
  4. Good choise and congratulations! But where is the pitchas??
  5. I might be missing something here, but I can't see any benefit here except a minute weight saving benefit. The important thing about the OEM double chainring cranks is their centralized position in relation to the cassette. So by just removing the big blade and replacing the remaining ones with slightly bigger ones defeats the object in my opinion.
  6. Thanks @BigBen and @Caad4! It is the Carbon. Frame with shock (love that shock) and headset weighs 2.44kg (size L). Complete bike as it stands there is 12.2kg. There is lots of room for weight saving, but I am happy with it just like it is. I am also amazed at how solid that carbon feels and sounds. Santa came early this year
  7. A lot happened for me since Friday. I had a closer look at the Tallboy and it said: buy me! So I did just that on Saturday morning and build it the afternoon. Rode it on Sunday and I am truly amazed.
  8. Bought the frame on Saturday. Love the ride.
  9. Bet you don't drive a BMW then. My dream bike (adhering to all your requirements above) would be the French brand Lapierre. Awesome looking bikes, awesome quality. They are still to bring out a dually though.
  10. Jip, that's the 26" version. Replaces the Marathon.

  12. I see that. Will find out more and let you know. I do know there were some updates made after the race as updates (team type entries, latecomers, etc) could not be done during the race period. Also, the manual timekeeping had to be matched with the electronic one as to double check the results before publishing. What might have happened in your case, is that the electronic timing missed a lap and has now been rectified, but as I said, i'll check for you.
  13. Great to hear you all enjoyed it! Results are out: http://www.lifeministriesschool.co.za/downloads/2011mtbresults.pdf Also official photos will be uploaded today (go to Gallery): http://www.od-event-photographers.co.za/
  14. Some tips if you are going to buy a frame only: The head tube length of the new frame may be longer than your current bike and thus you may run out of fork steerer tube lenght. Make sure both have tapered head tube (or both square). BB type to be the same athough there are some adaptors available. Some makes (Niner is one) recommend only 2x10 cranks.
  15. All riders are in for a real treat this year. Lots of new twisty singletrack, wood bridges, banks, handbuild wood pumptrack section, floating bridge, etc. The first open road section has been removed. There will be plenty space to overtake, but it will be tough in the twisty singletrack portion (and impossible on the floating bride, but the bridge isn't that long). The bridge should last, way more people goes over one with the sani2C. We are building the bridge this afternoon (tonight? ) It is more pricy, complicated and a mission than you might think. I take my hat off to Farmer Glen. See you all there! I will be the guy with the wrist brace who will be sulking because he can't ride.
  16. Imho it is not about the amount of power transferred that increases, but the pressure on the point loads of the feet that decreases.
  17. Also been riding my road bike with mtb shoes. I do think there will be a small advantage riding with road shoes and cleats though (stiffer soles for better power transfer and bigger contact area of cleats), but not enough unless you are not an extremely competitive road racer.
  18. My vote for the gheyest comment of the day
  19. +1
  20. Really? I do not see religeous people on this thread (or any other thread) starting religous debate or give religous imput unless "challenged" otherwise. I do not wish to debate religion, but know this: Atheism is a religion too; you have to BELIEVE that there is no God.
  21. Took your advise. Had 2 long runs this weekend and well....AWESOME!
  22. Never seen such neat joint welds before. Almost looks like a carbon joint.
